- Mass air flow cleaning diagnostic is about determining if your mass air flow sensor needs cleaning even before it starts giving problem. Mass air flow sensor detects air volume and relay this data to the car computer which in turn measure the fuel to be injected in the cylinder. With this quick and easy check you can detect faults before it happens with your mass air flow sensor. Ensure that you use mass air flow sensor cleaner and be sure to remove the trottle body if you need to clean your mass air flow sensor (this depends on your car air intake design and where your mass air flow sensor is located).
Do not hold the mass air flow sensor cleaner too close to the sensor when spraying the cleaner. Keep it at a distance but ensure that the spray adequately covers the sensor then wait for a few minutes for the sensor to dry before reconnecting the sensor.

This engine doesn't have a Mass Airflow (MAf) sensor as it seems. Usually it's located right after the air filter, but before the throttle. What is after the throttle is Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor, which is the scenario in this case.

Sheldock is the mass air flow sensor connected to the throttlebody because I am not seeing any. Electrical device between the air filter and the throttle body
I removed the filter assembly. Then without it, i started the engine for a minute or two. Can it damage the engine by any means? Let's say rings, because after that it started give blue smoke

mine was the sensor, so i cleaned it, as well as i cleaned throttle.

You can use the MAF sensor cleaner as long as it helps to dissolve the tough grease that lodges on the throttle body and valve.
You may need to use a piece of cloth to help rub away the grease because it can be stubborn.
Ensure that you remove the throttle body before you spray anything to clean it.
A carburetor cleaner would be the best solution though.

Once you have engine racing even at idle it means that you have a air leak after your throttle body.
Is this the 1000cc 1KR-FE engine? I have a weird acceleration (car shakes /chokes in first gear) and some forums recommended cleaning the MAF but it seems this model doesn't have one(2007 ) or i didn't find it:)
My 1000cc 1kR-FE has a Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor. This is located between the throttle body and intake connection to cylinder head.
1. If your vehicle displays a engine check light then you need to scan the ECU for error codes.
2. With no engine check light then your electrical system is in tack and you need not to trouble it.
With no engine check light and the experience you are having then something needs cleaning.
I would suggest start cleaning you fuel system.
Did u check the spark plugs? My plug seals are gone

Shel Dock my car makes clicking sound whiles accelerating when weather is hot and it gives out puff smoke after going downhill and accelerating right after. It's a Toyota vitz with 4 cylinders
Thank you for this question. I am presently experiencing the smoke problem when going down-hill as you describe. The clicking sound may be as a result of the same smoke problem. Just a question though? Do you have oil consumption issues?
I am having oil consumption issues and I am preparing myself to have a rings change for the pistons. If your oil rings are not working properly the result is the smoke issue you mentioned earlier.
@@ShelDockToyotaVitz I am not experiencing the smoke when going downhill I do experience the smoke right after I get to the end of the downhill and hit on the gas pedal to accelerate again and there is a puff smoke with the clicking noise with loss of engine power... And yes I am having a little bit of oil consumption. My car doesn't have all these symptoms continuously and car seems to run perfect during start ups and starts to show all these signs after and hour or two drive
For my vehicle I don't experience the lost of power as you describe but just as you describe the smoke condition I have the same problem. Does this lost of power continues or its just after the puff of smoke?
@@ShelDockToyotaVitz No it doesn't continue after the puff smoke but rather you will feel the low of power during the clicking sound together with the smoke and also during the clicking sound alone
I notice that most Toyota vehicles in front of me at the base of the hill when they accelerate gives off white smoke like a puff. I also know that white smoke is given off when enough water vapor is present in the combustion chamber. This water vapor can come from the coolant if you have a bad head gasket however, my coolant is oil base and i am not loosing coolant. My explanation since other vehicles experiencing the same thing is that when going down hill water vapor gather in the intake system and when you accelerate at the base of the hill this water vapor is pulled into the combustion chamber then burn and gives off the white smoke.
If oil is being burnt the exhaust will give off a grey to dark smoke.

Am mainly specialized in Toyota vitz but I know that all these vehicles though have different design they all operates the same.
Procedure I used in my videos related to engine vibration should be similar to solving vibration in other engines.

What part of the engine did you clean.
If the trottle body cylinder and valve is not properly cleaned high idle rpm may occur.

Where's the mass air flow sensor location?
A maf sensor is located between the air filter and the trottle body. A map sensor is located after the trottle body to where the intake connects to the cylinder head. A vehicle has only one of these sensors.

Bro I am having a problem with my 2011 vitz. After engine swap 1kr engine. The car keep reving up and down on its own
Have you done a scan on the vehicle to see if any faults come up?

I use the same trick on my wife, shove my finger around if it comes out dirty I use my special plunger cleaning tool
