    I gotta say I really like the OG straw lid! The small handle is great for holding the bottle with my middle finger and thumb when I drink from it, and I already use a paracord as a larger handle, which extends so conveniently with the shoulder strap. Having an extra, smaller handle with the new straw lid would kinda get in the way and be redundant. Therefore, from my perspective it's still not the ideal lid and the OG is still quite worthy.

      Good point! For sure, adding a paracord handle solves the main issue we have with the OG straw lid.

    The second option looks like the only one that actually has deals in it that can be taken completely out each time easily.
    I hate gaskets that are way up in the top and hard to get out with the need of some extra things like a toothpick or something. These cups really need to start taking into mind that gaskets need taken out after every single use and washed or they grow mold and with them way up in the top in a skinny area that's hard to get to, most people probably won't clean them each time.

      I completely agree and HATE hard to reach gaskets! I currently have a Takeya spout bottle and you can tell they actually thought about this problem so it is much easier to clean. I also noticed, the standard mouth flex straw cap (not pictured in this video) looks way easier to clean than the wide mouth one shown here because it doesn't have a hard to reach gasket. I'm considering buying the standard mouth bottle at the moment...or a Takeya straw bottle.

      Yea, that's something I need to start highlighting this feature more in videos. Adding a little pull-tab to the large gaskets so they're easier to pop out helps so much, and it's such a small change. There are a few brands like Takeya that Monica mentioned, but there aren't as many as you'd hope to see with that extra design feature. Out of all the brands I have, I think the only ones with a pull-tab on the large gasket are Takeya, Klean Kanteen's older loop cap (non-insulated bottle), and EcoVessel.

    So helpful, thank you! I was trying to explain to my husband why I dislike the original straw lid and wanted to try the new flex straw lid, and this info was exactly what I was looking for!

      @@bottlepro3252 it is 150% a game changer. I’m the person that needs a straw to drink more water, so I hadn’t used my Hydro Flasks in a while because I disliked the original straw lid so much. And I’m the type of person who frequently tries to carry too many things at once, so the original lid was frequently painful to my fingers. I now have a flex straw lid for both my standard and wide mouth bottles and I love using them again.

    Is it just me or is the Flex Straw much, much harder to flip up than the original straw lid?

    • @bottlepro3252
      @bottlepro3252  Рік тому +7

      Yea, it does take a little more effort to flip it open, but that's mostly a by-product of how the new Flex Straw locks into the closed position better than the old straw lid design. So in our opinion, it's still a good change all-things-considered.

    • @bottlepro3252

      Yea, that's one of the few downsides we forgot to mention in the video. There are some 3rd party lids out there that now that have an extra piece that covers the spout when it's closed. The extra piece also lets you pull the spout up without having to touch the spout with your hand. Here's a link to one of the Amazon listings if you'd like to check it out as an alternative! amzn.to/3JZeo7s

    I decided to get the Wide Mouth Flex Chug Cap which isn’t listed here. I use it on my bottle for the gym. My 32oz HF came with the straw, which is hard to get more water to come thru.

      Yea, that Flex Chug came out after we posted this video. We have a separate video review about the Flex Chug. We didn't like it at first, but it's grown on us some as we used it more and more. We're planning to do an updated video that reviews all of the current lids (hoping to have that done within a month!).

    does the flex straw leak at all? i tend to throw my bottles in my bags with my laptop and they never stay right side up - leaking has been a huge issue in the past so am trying to avoid!

    • @bottlepro3252
      @bottlepro3252  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Mia! We can't say for 100% sure that it won't leak since there's always a chance a seal could be defective or get worn out over time. And because it's a new product that we're still testing out.
      That being said, we tested the Flex Straw lid quite a bit, and it hasn't leaked for us yet! The spout "snaps" shut a lot more clearly, so there's less of a chance that you'll think it's closed when it's actually a little open (which is a problem we had with the original straw lid). Also, the air hole is built into the thick red silicone insert, and it seems like that insert creates a much better seal around the air hole peg compared to the original straw lid.

    Greetings, Nice video. I have coldest water bottle flip 40oz and i want to buy hydro flask wide mouth lids. Will they fit?
    I Saw several video cirkul lid cap both fit on hydroflask bottle and coldest bottle.
    But I want to make sure from expert bottle review from you.
    Thanks in advance for the answers

    • @bottlepro3252
      @bottlepro3252  9 місяців тому

      Thanks for the question! I don't have a Coldest bottle yet, so I haven't tested this out personally (hoping to get one of those bottles in 2024). So I'm probably seeing the same results on Google searches that you are, and from a few posts and reviews I saw on Amazon, I think it should fit on a Hydro Flask OK. I just can't say for 100% since I haven't tested it personally.
      Sorry I don't have a more certain answer, but hopefully someone else can comment below if they have tried it out themselves to confirm for sure!

    I have older hydroflasks that came with older style lids that tended to be leaky, so I’d love to get new lids if they are compatible with the older hydroflasks. Can you confirm whether these new lids will work with them? I want mine to be absolutely leak proof so am only interested in the first one you mention.

    • @bottlepro3252
      @bottlepro3252  Рік тому

      Hi there! To our knowledge Hydro Flask hasn't changed their threads or cap size in a long time, if ever. That being said, we don't have a super-old Hydro Flask to test this out for sure, so we can't say 100%. But if you're looking for a leak-free option, we definitely recommend the Flex Cap (1st one mentioned in the video). The Flex Cap has a simpler design and just has one o-ring in the cap to worry about, and all the others have more possible ways for the cap to leak a little if certain seals or areas wear out or get damaged over time. Hope this helps!

    I just purchased one of your splash guards for my 32oz Hydro Flask in white, but I would prefer it in black. If not black, then I would prefer yellow. I noticed in a few of your videos that there is a black version. Is it possible for me to receive that color variation instead?
    I attempted to email via the contact section on your website, but nothing happened when selecting "Submit"

    Can the Flex Straw lid be used without the straw? I'd like the flip option, but be able to sip from my 40 oz bottle.

    • @bottlepro3252
      @bottlepro3252  Рік тому +2

      We wouldn't recommend using either of the straw lids that way. If you take the straw out, then you'd have to tilt the bottle upside down to take a drink. If you tilt it too much, water would come out the air hole and probably drip on your face.

    Are we suppose to re-use the straws that comes with it and can i use other straws in future?

    • @bottlepro3252
      @bottlepro3252  Рік тому +1

      The straws last a long time (years) if you wash them consistently, so you can reuse them a lot. Exactly how long they'll last depends on a few factors, like how often you use your bottle. how often and thoroughly you clean the straws, and if you're drinking plain water or flavored water. Whenever in doubt, just replace it. There are quite a few listings on Amazon for replacement Hydro Flask straws that are really inexpensive. Hope this helps!

    i know the original straw lid is not leakproof but can i still put my hydroflask on the pool?

    • @bottlepro3252
      @bottlepro3252  2 роки тому +1

      Like would water from the pool get in your bottle? Probably not, at least not a lot. But we'd still recommend avoiding using your Hydro Flask in the pool or getting it in contact with pool water. We're not 100% sure, but it's possible that chemicals in the water, like chorine, might affect the silicone seals and wear them out more.
