  • Kurtis Musewicz’s experience presents a fireworks caution. On June 23, 2017, in Tacoma’s “Firecracker Alley,” the teen found a discarded shell, lit the fuse and suffered severe injuries, including the loss of four fingers on his left hand. He received emergency care at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Here he describes the experience. The video includes comments from Dr. Monica Vavilala, a UW Medicine trauma specialist.
