    Awesome video I’m probably going to go buy two idler pulleys providing my tensioner isn’t worn I hate the rattle noise!

    Great video 👍 , do you think it's a good idea to replace the idler pulley and tensioner pulley and a new belt all at same time ?

      If I had over 100,000klm would do the whole lot, you could possibly leave the idler pulley to a later date as they seam to last. Genuine ford tensioner can be gotten on eBay for a good price

    Hey Phil. I have just taken my BT50 to Mazda as (to me) it sounds like the tappets are noisy - from inside the cab. Mazda don’t know what it is yet and want to do a compression test tomorrow. Would this sound like loud tappets?

      Take the belt off and run the engine for a little bit to see if the noise goes, that’s how I work out that it was the tensioner making the noise.

      @@philsrandomstuff2392 it’s at the Mazda so I’m going to ring in the morning. It might also be the lifters as I’ve read that when the oil is old and it’s cold the lifters need to be bled. It was already booked in for its service and it’s bloody cold here. 👍

    thanks for the vid Phil, appreciate the effort. Since im living in Myanmar and there are very few experts, without bothering the creators of these videos with my questions, where would you guys go to get some info and help when your Mazda bt50 or ford ranger t6 (like mine) run into problems? Thanks again.

    Thanks for sharing, would you have the part number for the pully please?

    • @philsrandomstuff2392

      You can by a Gates brand (gates part number 39421) for around $170AUD or just the pulley Dayco part number EP257 for a round $70 each. A genuine ford tensioner assy is around $400. If you have over 100,000klms on the tensioner replace the whole tensioner as it will be worn in the pivot and start eating belts cheers Phil

    Any chance you have a video with the engine running with the noise?

    I got this same thing, does it make a rattle sound when it's cold, when accelerating? I thought it might be my injectors.. mine is walking of the back of the 2nd wheel

    • @philsrandomstuff2392
      @philsrandomstuff2392  2 роки тому

      Yes it is definitely more noticeable when cold and accelerating. If it’s walking off the wheel than your tensioner is worn out in it’s pivot and your about to start shredding the belt. The Gates one is good quality and priced well

    Might be a stupid question but why does it rattle when cold and not when warm

    • @philsrandomstuff2392
      @philsrandomstuff2392  Рік тому

      It does rattle all the time it’s just more noticeable when engine is first started. The 3.2 will also have lifter rattle sound when it’s started at very low temperatures

    Its not that, its the whole tensioner sitting at an angle that makes the belt squeek

    • @philsrandomstuff2392
      @philsrandomstuff2392  Рік тому

      This is true. When the tensioner is worn out, it’ll sit in an angle, but brand-new the bearings in mine rattled after 30,000 km. Repacking the bearings with grease stopped the rattle for a little while. Anyway I’m on my third tensioner at 130,000 km.
