If you have the githyanki silver sword of the inquisitor and if you give it to Lae'zel there is a high chance of stunning Ansur thanks to its Githyanki wielder abilities. Managed to defeat ansur without ever getting hit thanks to this
Found out you can do this fight at lvl 8 with my Paladin/Bard, Shadowheart, Lae-Zel and Gale. Only needed my tav plus Shadowheart. Just smiteing and guiding bolts take significant damage to it. Gale just hasened to give my tav extra attacks. Lae-zel did nothing and died. Killed it on second turn. I was playing on Balanced. I feel like higher difficulty my build would not be able to defeat him.
Haste is too OP. I don't use it because it makes everything too easy. As if it wasn't enough that your fighter has 3 attacks in a row and on top of that you can also use Action Surge.
There was a bug back then that allowed infinite spell castings if you were half mindflayer. Everyone has heroes feast and aid I think at 6th level. You can do this now, but perhaps cast a lower level of aid.
This is a hidden area under the Wrym Crossing prison. Most players (including myself) find it after saving Duke Ravenguard. He tells you about Ansur and gives you a book tell you where he's at. You gotta go to the prison and basically there are two torches you gotta activate using a lighting attack/spell (I just used shocking grasp cantrip). After you activate it a door opens and you are in the dungeon. You have to solve a couple puzzles (only one mandatory fight before Ansur) and then you get to him. You get a very powerful legendary greatsword (probably the best in the game) for killing Ansur, and in the back of the room is also a legendary helmet.
Fighter has 3 attacks per attack action starting level 11. You can get 2 extra attack actions with haste and action surge. If you crit during any of these attacks, you get an extra single attack via the great weapon master feat. This is especially likely if you got a source of advantage.
@@TheGraveyardWatchdog that makes it easier then i didnt get hit once by the dragon maybe if i let him live to use his skill, the elementals were annoying tho
It was very hard with 16’ish AC and lvl 9 team. It came down to the wire, no spells left, he was charging up, half my team was hiding at the entrance way and I had to rush them in, one of them couldn’t reach. The other three attacked with everything, just barely killed him. Everyone had like single digit hp 😂 it was epic
For these kind of fight 9999 explosive barrels do come in handy
I love that maneuver

Bro thank u i forgot i had like 50 barrels
And that is exactly one we did as well, and our asses still nearly got ripped asunder
"He is with you, he is within you, he is you" part is so freaking cool

So I got lucky with a bug where Ansur just sits still for every turn. Was a nice freebie smile😊

To be fair, level 8 is a pretty tough spot to fight this boss! I did this boss last because I missed him initially. Was level 12 😂

I mean the fight is already pretty easy with how much power act 3 gives you. I didn't even prebuff that much.

Where did you find the scroll with that spell on it?
Not sure where you can find a scroll, but is a spell that you can get at level 11 with sorcerer and (im not sure) wizard
