I made this for dinner today it was amazing fast simple and taste delicious I will be making it more often for my family thank you so much for the recipe and I love your videos
sorry to be offtopic but does someone know a way to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the login password. I love any tips you can give me.
@Knox Zavier Thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and im trying it out atm. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
soaking dal before cooking helps to remove some of the anti-nutritional factors present in pulses (these anti-nutritional factors, which not allow the protein to be digested properly, are destroyed by soaking)
This looks delicious and I can't wait to try it. I just wondered if you wanted to double the ingredients how long you would cook this for? Presumably you would also have to double the amount of water? Thanks.
followed this recipe to the tea and had to continue adding water whilst my dahl barely cooked. I'm annoyed, I don't know if the recipe you gave had too little water or if I did something wrong with the pressure cooker but either way I had to throw the dahl away bc it had burnt at the bottom.
@@KravingsFoodAdventures it was an instant pot, but im wondering now if it was either bc i didnt scrape the bottom of the pot after saute setting or if it was bc i initially set it on low pressure as i thought that was what it showed in the video 🤔 im new to the instant pot so maybe it was user error, im gonna try soaking the lentils and then adding more water next time i think x
@@turtleshell0 Hmmm, usually an Instant Pot creates a lot of steam, that's why I don't add that much water if I want it thick, but if it's burning, please add more water!
What is the measure on the chana dal please? I can't see where you tell us how much to add after adding the cup of water. I can't wait to try this. Thank you!
Boy did you ever answer my wishes for a good answer re: "What will be for dinner?" I was sick on Valentine's Day and the following day, we got an elk on a special landowner's tag and I had to help my husband butcher and hang it. So much work and I was still so weak. As an aside, please don't fret about the delay in sending the lovely prizes you are sharing with us. You are a busy woman and had a time of not feeling your best also. We are just very grateful. Hi friend! I love hearing from you but I’ve noticed that you’re not subscribed to my channel - please consider subscribing so you don’t miss out on all the great recipes. Also you will be helping me get to my next milestone of 50,000 subscribers!
I'm pretty sure you can ... I've seen some videos out already ... it's on my bucket list ... but I don't know if it will replace my traditional method ... maybe for a quick weeknight recipe!
This looks *delicious*, Karen! Do you know how it holds up to being frozen? I'm trying to plan freezer meals for hubby, and I just know he'd love this dish. :)
I've never once asked you to buy the Instant pot - this is not a sponsored video, nor have I received any money to promote this. There are many merits that I think I should share with my viewers, however, I also have regular pressure cookers that I still use as well. So if you didn't get the recipe in this video that I tried so hard to communicate, I guess I failed.
Oh the joy of Indian food . Nothing quite like it 🙌🏼
Right???
Great recipe, kill the music
Sorry about that!
One way that I choose a channel to subscribe is when they write down the recipe in the description without go to other web sites or follow links

@@KravingsFoodAdventures no need to apologize ! Food was soooo good regardless
Are you using yellow split peas or chickpeas?
Yellow split peas - Chana Dhal, not Chickpeas or Garbanzo beans
Made this twice and it was delicious. We greatly enjoyed it. Thanks so much for this fab recipe.
So welcome!

This is true - Instant Pot often talks about not needing to soak the pulses, but I agree it's better to.
horrible loud music

I've just had a look and most places say the ratio should be 1 cup of dahl to 3 cups of water?
I'm very sorry to hear this? Did you use an Instant Pot or a pressure cooker?

Hi Miss Liz, it's 1 cup Chana Dal. Since I used the Instant Pot, I didn't soak it. Enjoy!
Thank you so much!
I would like to mix and match daals with this same technique in the instapot, is it possible?
Absolutely, I have many recipes using different types of Dhal, all cooked in the Instant Pot.

I usually cook on high pressure!
I’m tempted to try this recipe in my Ninja foodi. Thanks for recipe
Hope you enjoy!!!
i am cooking chana dall - its now over 5 hours but dall is still like rock ?
You cooked it for 5 hours? Or it's sitting for 5 hours. Chana Dhal alwyas has a tendency to thicken, just add water, heat and loosen it.

How long do you pressure cook is soaked overnight?
You can soak overnight, but usually 30 - 60 mins is good. In the Instant Pot though, no soaking is really necessary.
@@KravingsFoodAdventures you didn’t answer the question. The question is how long do we pressure cook IF the Dal was soaked prior to pressure cooking.
