    this was performed beautifully and I'm so impressed by the use of the different instruments. the choir sounded sweet!

    The HX-1 was also a dream when I was a kid. My family could barely afford the MC-200 that my mother still has. I picked this instrument up second-hand about 10 years ago.

  • @anlynes
    @anlynes  16 років тому +3

    It's a bit hard to say how long it took to arrange. I tinkered with it a few years ago but never got into it. After about three years, I picked it up again. I spent about 25 hours in Jan 08 to re-learn the song, add some personal touches, do the orchestration, program the HX-1 and shoot the video.

  • @anlynes

    That may indeed be true. The feeling he manages to convey is quite amazing.

    There's actually no score for this arrangement. I started with a copy of "My Heart Will Go On" for Piano/Vocal/Guitar
    published by IMP (International Music Publications Limited), England
    (Order Ref: 6105A) and messed around with it. If you need notes and chords fast, try the sheetmusicdirect web site.

  • @anlynes
    @anlynes  16 років тому +2

    Thanks for this and the other comments. The choir is a mixture of an FM vocal from the HX-1 and an AWM vocal from the AVS-10. The FM vocal is dominant. The HX-1 does not have an in-built AWM vocal.

  • @anlynes
    @anlynes  16 років тому +8

    Actually I waited 10 years and picked it up second-hand for less than 20% of its original value. That was 11 years ago.

  • @corgiluver26

    I could listen to this every day and not get bored of it :). For those of you saying that it's fake and stuff, you should actually TRY playing some type of organ and see that you can play all that at the same time, and not just assume that it's fake.

    Pan Flute
    AWM + FM Vocal
    Oboe
    AWM + FM Strings
    Pan Flute
    Oboe
    AWM Strings + Heavy FM Strings + AWM Vocal
    Horn
    Lead Vocal

    Great eyesight! The original drive in my MDR died over a year ago. I sourced a modified floppy drive as a replacement. It works OK, but the connector on the replacement is in a different location. The original drive cable isn't long enough for it all to fit back together. It's on my "To Do" list to finish fashioning a replacement cable.

    This is officially a "Yamaha Electone HX System 1", commonly called an HX-1. It was released back in 1987 and cost around 20,000USD at the time. It now sells for less than 1000USD in the US and other parts of the world, if you can find one.

    You'll notice a line of 16 buttons between the two keyboards. This is called the registration memory. Each button is able to store and retrieve every setting on the instrument. I've programmed the onboard sequencer to select the appropriate registration at the appropriate time. If you watch closely, there are 4 registration changes between 3.22 and 3.32 as I transition from the flute, through to the oboe and choir, and finally the strings.

    Hi. I happened on your comment by chance after a long absence from UA-cam. Yes, this Electone arrangement is mine, but it's based on the sheet music listed in the notes above. The voice expander (AVS-10) adds 12 extra AWM sounds to the HX. The FX20 is only 3-4 years older than the HX. I have an FS70 as well, which is a spinet version of the FX20. Registrations are being changed by the on board sequencer, although the HX has a knee lever and two foot switches as well.

    The shaker is being played by the HX-1. With this machine, you create a number of 1 and 2 bar rhythm patterns using a selection of percussion instruments. If controlling the drums manually, a 2 bar pattern will repeat over and over until you either choose another 2 bar pattern or 1 bar fill. You can also sequence the different patterns to produce a complete drum performance, as I've done here.
    The shaker is a 2 bar 8-beat pattern where odd beats are slightly louder than even beats.
