@@Lightwish4K that was I believe 5090 hitting that 27fps with path tracing but without frame generation they were showing at the stage so gpu would need to be at least 5-10 times faster rt performance than 5090 to get to spot where you don't need frame generation for smooth path traced gaming
As a guy who played on top gaming PCs in his entire life but had to make a transition to console because of family, work, kids, not having enough time to play to justify the investment anymore, and this transition ended up having a PS5 Pro... This video really reminded me of how awesome high end PC gaming is as I play this game on PS5 Pro atm and was praising how good it is looking on PS5 Pro, it can't be compared even even remotely close this quality, fuck me I am playing it like a fucking muddy graphics compared to this beauty. Don't get me wrong I like my PS5 Pro, but this, this is what PC gaming is, and was for me... Although, that power draw caught my attention, while paying on a 32" 4k HDR 1000 oled monitor + ps5 pro draws less than 4090 alone.
As an RTX 4090 owner (Asus 4090 TUF), you can use MSI Afterburner to reduce your max power draw to ~75-80% of the 450 watts (so around 370 watts or so) and your fps aren’t affected by more than 1-2 fps at 4K max settings on UE5 titles and you notice the heat output difference 😉😅😂🤣. For UE5 titles I run my game at 4K DLSS Quality at high settings (not ultra / max) to keep a smoother fps frametime with less stutters as well ✊💪

They include them for 'future hardware' as they did in 'Kingdom Come Deliverance' I remember the impossible settings there which destroyed my 2080, then I got the 3090 and then the 4090: 90 fps, butter smooth at maxed out ....
I haven't played since launch but I found the most demanding was actually when the Taken start invading the town. Setting is sundown and the path behind the lodge leading up to the elderly residence hits hard. I was running DLSS quality for the entire game till that section and I had to drop to balanced just to keep it above 60
Seeing a 4090 have an average of mid-20s fps with path tracing is wild. Just goes to show how expensive it is, and how demanding this game is especially in the woods.
Alan Wake 2 has high-quality, multilayered textures and geometry, along with a bunch of other high-fidelity effects that make it even more demanding. It becomes especially demanding when you switch on path tracing, where multiple rays are shot per pixel. When the light bounces from one object to another, the GPU has to do millions and millions of calculations, and that requires tonnes of processing power. All of those amazing visuals do cost a lot of processing power, and this is the point that people don't understand. They just say the same old BS every time. People need to stop mistaking AW2 for being badly optimised. It's just super demanding. Examples of badly optimised games are Jedi Survivor, Star Citizen, Hogwarts Legacy, and Cities Skylines 2. Those games are a stuttering nightmare with a bunch of other problems, such as constant FPS fluctuation, inconsistent GPU/CPU load, shader compilation, traversal stutters, etc. Alan Wake 2 doesn't have any of those problems.
I wouldn’t say this game is very well optimized though, considering it still drops below 60 fps without any form of ray tracing enabled on a 4090. This GPU is literally 50+ teraflops of sheer power, Alan Wake 2 has no business being that demanding without ray tracing, even at 4K
@@yancgc5098 The game uses software RT when you switch off hardware RT. The software RT is baked into the Northlight Engine that AW2 uses. There's no way to switch it off, which means there isn't a way to purely rasterize the game, unfortunately. If there was an option to switch off software RT to purely rasterize the game, it would have run much better and still looked nearly as good. Software RT is less demanding than hardware RT, but it's still significantly more demanding than rasterized lighting. Alan Wake 2 is always using RT. Either in software or hardware.
@@yancgc5098Telling us how much a 4080 costs or how much power it's supposed to have isn't a metric you can then use to assess whether a developer has optimized their game or not. You sound like someone who doesn't know what they're talking about when you attempt to do so.

Why no frame gen?? It is much smoother with. And ... disable ray reconstruction ... will destroy yours even more as it is native path tracing denoising. Plus: the new 5090 is coming out with multiple stage frame gen. It will handle the maxed out here easy with more than 100 fps. ... I know I play this game maxed out with no overclock and native PT full and I get 40 to 60 fps even with motion blur and lens destortion. It is totally playable, I played thru twice, trust me, only, of course, I do always have the Frame Gen on, great vid here though :)
The path tracing requirements is insane. But if you play on raster only settings, the optimization not so bad. Right now I’m playing 1st time with undervolted RX 7800 XT. After 10+ hours i can say that on ultra 1440p without upscale it’s completely playable, 45-70 fps and looks better than many UE5 titles. Only in serious fights especially in the forest I m thinking about turn on upscale.
this is so overboard haha, good video. I personally would never but this sort of gpu i enjoy companies like AMD who are sightly more ethical practices but yeah, good vid.
I would recommend you to make a good graphics and performance comparison video of Alan Wake 2, Resident Evil 4, and Silent Hill 2. These three games are very similar in gameplay. It would make for a great video.
You should start testing games with War Thunder as well. The game is very demanding on max graphics and very forgiving at minimum. Plus, they added Ray Tracing now
I'd like to see this same video again, but with a 4070 super. All the resolutions, all ray tracing/path tracing on and off. I'm happy on the upper-middle end for GPUs, lol I get that the xx80s are more future proof, but if I can get a stable 4k 60 with at least high settings and the ray tracing/lumen/nanite then I'm happy
Kryzzp I have a video recommendation. You never made a video about DLDSR. Maybe test DLDSR on a 1080p/1440p monitor and try using DLSS/FSR to see if there are any improvements.
How are the .1% lows in Alan Wake 2? Been thinking about picking it up but I always worry about stutter. Frametime is looking pretty decent in this video.
Can I ask you what program you're using to show the stats in the left hand corner while playing? I'm using Afterburner, but somehow it's never working properly with me. Thank you.
If your setup can't run games at 4K native, it's always better to use DLSS Quality than lowering the native resolution, defenitely better. And in addition, you barely can tell the diference in quality.
And people are laughing at consoles for not having native res + 60 fps in games, when even a 2000$ GPU can't do it lol. Try the Glorious Model O wireless. 19k dpi, 1000Hz with 1 ms "latency". It's super damn good and very cheap!
The 4090 does 4k native Ultra with Pathtracing at 30 to 40FPS The Pro upscales from 864p to 4k at 30FPS, with light raytracing and medium settings. The 4090 is a monster, and tech always evolves. We 4090 owners understand that. Do you?
@@ehenningsen so, now 30 fps is fine for a 5000$+ PC, but it's a joke for a 400-700$ console which is a complete plug-and-play package, and you'll use it for 10+ years? 😂
@ColdFear6666 First, you can get a 4090 PC for $3000 easy. Next, this is a comparison only - since PS fanboys keep making these ridiculous claims that the Pro is better than the 4090. Since we are comparing the two, i am going by the "quality" mode of the pro. And since you asked if it is "acceptable" for a game to run 4k natively at Ultra with Pathtracing at 30-40FPS, i can resoundingly say yes. Tech keeps advancing, which is a good thing. This is what we want to see. The 4090 has been out for 2 years, and the 5090 is about to be released. The moment this stops happening is the moment tech speculation and advancement is dead.
Alan wake 2 is a masterpiece, but its just so insanly demanding, but it does look incrediable, Play with 7900 xtx so i cant touch those pathtracing and raytracing features, but its still looks very good.
To be honest, once I focus on the objective in the game, I don't see much difference between RT Off and Path Tracing... except for abysmally low fps, extreme room temperature and my PC launching into space. This is good for people who only turn on the game to see how beautiful it is and then refund after 5 minutes of walking with 15 fps.
this just proves that dlss is usefull and makes sense. people can complain all they want for Nvidia charging a premium to have it, but there it is the reason why.
i think i hit the lottery with my 4090 i just wish i was able to keep it cool, it auto clocks to 3000mhz ( not doing any manual tweeking or overclock manuallly just all out of the box ) when is 60c or under, but when i dont have my ac in my room on , it runs at 71c or so and runs at about 2800mhz . i also the the 4090 strix

Bro you are crazy. You are the guy who tests crazy resolutions like 16k right?
damn i saw your power usage spike to 162. these ue5 titles are crazy
23:43 Lighting looks gorgeous with 28 FPS. RDR 2 is laughing from 2018 😅
You should try lossless scaling with rtx 4090 and other gpus too at 4k and 8k
Alan wake 2, the game to test your 5090 😅
Man, how come your GPU temps are so low!!! Can you tell me the strategy?????
Set a 1 to 1 fan curve!
Example:
45°C -> 45%
69°C -> 69%
And so on
It keeps things very cool and it isn't loud 🙂
69°c - 69% =nice 😎
@@zWORMzGaming Mine is ranging in the 80s when gaming, 🥵
How are the .1% lows in Alan Wake 2? Been thinking about picking it up but I always worry about stutter. Frametime is looking pretty decent in this video.
You are whit Reflex on?
Can I ask you what program you're using to show the stats in the left hand corner while playing? I'm using Afterburner, but somehow it's never working properly with me. Thank you.
Did you find the answer? I would like to know.
happy see you my friend u always in the best
Byyye... byyye... oooptimiiized...
Yes please make more video with ultrawide resolution 3440x1440p 🙏🙏
Logitech g305 lightspeed . I can't say anything bad about this mouse and I changed alot.
Thanks for the suggestion!
The thing is. Frame gen can be nice... But so many devs are using it as a crutch just like upscaling.
If you're gonna do real time path tracing, you better have all the crutches
If your setup can't run games at 4K native, it's always better to use DLSS Quality than lowering the native resolution, defenitely better. And in addition, you barely can tell the diference in quality.
I can 100% tell the difference.
And people are laughing at consoles for not having native res + 60 fps in games, when even a 2000$ GPU can't do it lol.
Try the Glorious Model O wireless. 19k dpi, 1000Hz with 1 ms "latency". It's super damn good and very cheap!
The 4090 does 4k native Ultra with Pathtracing at 30 to 40FPS
The Pro upscales from 864p to 4k at 30FPS, with light raytracing and medium settings.
The 4090 is a monster, and tech always evolves. We 4090 owners understand that.
Do you?
@@ehenningsen ps 5 pro - 700$, 4090 - 2000$ (and it's gpu only). So your comparison does not make sence "4090 owner"
@kharonblake3841 So? We don't mind spending money.
There is a difference between talk and backing it up.
The 4090 gets 70+ fps at maxed out settings with maxed out path tracing at native 1080?
*The Native Masterrace Wins Again*
Alan wake 2 is a masterpiece, but its just so insanly demanding, but it does look incrediable,
Play with 7900 xtx so i cant touch those pathtracing and raytracing features, but its still looks very good.
Try G703 Lightspeed its a great balance between functionality and comfort
these games are pretty much made for the new gpus in mind
Love your cOntent kryzzppppppppppppppp 🌹🌹🌹🌹
razer cobra pro works really well for me
Your blessed to have 4090
turns out 4090 is a 1080p card for 75 Hz high refrashrate monitors 33:20
this just proves that dlss is usefull and makes sense. people can complain all they want for Nvidia charging a premium to have it, but there it is the reason why.
Is pointless. It just ruins immersion by hallucinating.
i think i hit the lottery with my 4090 i just wish i was able to keep it cool, it auto clocks to 3000mhz ( not doing any manual tweeking or overclock manuallly just all out of the box ) when is 60c or under, but when i dont have my ac in my room on , it runs at 71c or so and runs at about 2800mhz . i also the the 4090 strix
Cant wait to go from 4090 to 5090. Already have the 9800x3d
As if that processor would make a difference in performance🤣🤣🤣
@@onewayplay7437 Every little helps
@@onewayplay7437it will cpu bound in cpu hog games like xplane 12, cities skylines, teardown,

AI is definitely doing a lot of heavy lifitng here but i think its just because the game is that god damn beautiful
It would hilarious if the 5090 ended up struggling in this game too.
color me crazy, but I feel if a $1600 gpu is getting performance like this native with no fg, maybe the game isn't optimized the best.
