Mainz AP dmg output rivals Minotaurs. It’s absolutely bonkers for a T8 CL. The catch is it’s attached to a clumsy and extremely squishy hull with no heal. Moose handled her beautifully and knew when to tap into her AP and when not to. Beautifully played, especially against that Alaska.

Had I've been in that Mainz with a buddy in the Tallinn, I would have charged that Alaska straight away after the Akizuki was sunk, if you charge with two cruisers, both of which have torpedoes, the Alaska wouldn't have time to sink both of them and the DD would have survived (if timed well with the DD's attack,, the cruisers could have been the bait and the DD could have finished it with a torpedo volley). And the Illinois might have survived as well as the other ships could have been tempted to react to the Mainz and Tallinn's attack.
