and it was clear that Stalingrad's Kapitan shipped a massive number of dissidents to the Gulags so the Stalinium armour and the cold dead hand of Stalin were on side during the battle.
If they increased the damage taken from any source by 10% for every 10 seconds you're in contact with the map border, people would learn to stay off the border.

@@jessegd6306 One can never be sure...but in this video, that Stalingrad would have been dead at least one salvo earlier. The idea would just be to mitigate the apparent advantage from border humping. It reduces aim accuracy which in turn reduces damage taken, right? So if the damage taken increases over time on the border, it mitigates that advantage. We wouldn't want it to instantly increase the damage because someone might innocently hit the map border and needs a bit of time to turn around and get off it. But anyone on the border long enough to try to exploit the aim disruption should suffer for it by taking more damage from the shells that do hit. I would like to see it in action.

If wargaming really wanted to keep players from riding the border they would need something more drastic, like disable their guns and nerf concealment as long as they are on the border.
how about after 30 seconds on the border you start losing health at a rate of 1% of your total pool every second. Or your ship floods the entire time you are touching the border? Either would work well and be easy to implement.

Thanks for featuring my game. A small context: the name is still from my old Minecraft days when I started to play wows shortly after the beta (when I joined there were still only 2 lines). So with time I also was able to purchase Stalingrad with steel and didn't buy it with dubloons :)

I must say these russian engineers are miracle workers, with their ability to make a cruiser that has all the strengths and none of the weaknesses of a battleship while also having many of the strengths and none of the weaknesses of a cruiser. Truly a design that could only come from russia.
it has the concealment of a battleship and cruiser lvl citadel armor, it is extremely easy to outflank and extremely easy to burn down. It is also very easy to mitigate its dmg by just angling towards it unlike a battleship w overmatch. Keep thinking stalin is op little 45 percenter

Jingles, sigma is not the same as vertical dispersion. There is an actual value for vertical dispersion, you just can't see it in the game. The game only shows you horizontal dispersion. These two values make up a dispersion ellipse.
The sigma value is the likelihood that any given shell will land near the center of that ellipse.

I like the Ships that hug the line are hard to hit with the aiming assistance and as it is said the Stalingrad gets 5 crits and drops the ship.
Yeah, the second he had an actual broadside and not an angle, he sank it with 5 critadels across 12 shells.
I'm not sure the border is messing up the aim *that* badly.
Its funny how Fridays video has all of us making fun of the Stalingrad who died at the beginning of the battle to a french super battle ship and in todays video, its showing a Stalingrad doing well 😂

Actually you can hit ships at the map border. You only have to take into account, that they don't move forward anymore but go instead sideways because they are scraping a "physical" border. The only difficulty here is to correctly calculate the speed in which they move sideways. Sometimes it is pretty slow because they have already lost most of their engine power and sometimes it is still fast because the effect has not completely slowed them down yet. You also have to aim on the height of the border itself because the ship at the border is held there and can only move at this line.
Nice call out on Michael Mando. Surprised you didn't mention that his likeness was used for the psycho Vaas in Far Cry 3. And of course he did the voice acting. Phenomenal actor.

It was the sub that got the cossack, which is pretty hostile for dds too, I think he was outside radar range when he died and he got torped by the sub - presumably his sonar was down at the time.
Hey Jingles. You CAN actually overmatch a stalin with even 380mm guns, but its only the top part of the bow, like all russian CAs it has an ice breaker that can not be overmatched. It is also therefore extremely unlikely to citadel any of them at anything but long range while doing that.
I find it hard to criticize border humpers. While there are some who do it deliberately, most do it by accident.
Maybe better players can avoid it, but I often find myself in a position where I ac either hump the border, or show broadside and die.
Or maybe I just don't quite have enough space to turn because someone put a great bloody wall in the middle of the ocean.
And once you get on the border, its very hard to get off because it cuts your engine power. So you end up on there longer.

I saw the actual Stalingrad when I was in the U.S.Navy. We shadowed her and another Soviet ship off the cost of Havanna, Cuba for 3 days and nights. As we finally broke away for liberty call in Key West, Florida...our Captain run up the signals A D I O S M F.

He aims way to low on the Stalingrad and gets poor results then aims correctly fire 6 shots and gets 3 citadels. Don't let reality get in the way of a good story Jingles :D.

FYI the sigma value doesn't directly correspond to vertical dispersion as intimated; it affects both horizontal and vertical. The shells all land in an ellipse that is defined by a series of dispersion equations that differ from nation and ship type. This can be thought of as the maximum possible deviation of the shells from the point of aim, and the width of this ellipse is the value given in port. The sigma value relates to the likelihood of the shells landing in the middle of the ellipse knowing that they are dispersed in a Gaussian fashion. So there are two separate variables that define the accuracy - the maximum dispersion and the likelihood of the shells landing towards the middle. In the case of the Stalingrad it has a battle cruiser dispersion ellipse which is bigger than a normal cruiser, but it compensates with a very high likelihood of the shells going where you aim. In practise it means that the majority of shells will land where you aim but occasionally you might see some going very wide because the ellipse is very large.
The majority of American, French and German BBs share the same dispersion equations, with the differences in accuracy being controlled only by sigma. Meanwhile the Japanese BBs get a unique equation which is worse at ranges below about 11km but gets better than the standard one at higher ranges.
The Slava is an extreme version of this where at ranges below 6km it has the worse maximum horizontal dispersion of any tier 10 BB, but the gradient of the equation is very shallow so it barely increases with range, unlike all the other BBs. It doesn't actually get more accurate at range like you hear people say, but it's accuracy degradation is much better than other BBs.
Other Russian BBs also have a unique set of equations that ensure the dispersion ellipse is smaller below about 12km but grows more rapidly above this range. They also have less vertical dispersion in general, so despite the Kremlin's ellipse width (horizontal) being among the largest at range, it has the best vertical dispersion so it makes it easier to hit the waterline if you can aim well.

Fun thing is, Stalingrad is actually quite balanced compared to all bs WG kept introducing as of late
Top effort in a top ship. Thing with XP is if you dont take any caps then you dont get the boost. 340k damage is a feat but mostly rewarded with credits. And all those decorations for being awesome give you......bugger all.
Hehe, when I do play it's on the NA servers and I steam towards the opposing team in a battleship. I'd call that high risk as every bugger else in a BB seems to think they've gone for a weekend in the woods they're camping so much!
Also, Jingles, "a citadel" on the opfor Stalingrad? There was a "3" on the citadel icon. It tells you how many there were you know... :D

years ago i angrily wrote to WG support telling them about the border scumbags, they kindly responded to my ticket: "this is not a bug, this is exactly how we intended the game to work"
while this is extremely annoying in a game which has moved to anything but historically accurate there is still a bit of war on the high seas mindset with it , map is confined but the borders are sort of lucid and represent a temporary relief hang in there like you have escaped beyond the border. what i like to see is a guide on how exactly to shoot on these sliding scumbags and more importantly how to be one of these scumbags. cheers Jingle! outstanding narration.
That enemy Stalingrad didnt use the borderhumping very clever he just sat there full broadside and got punished the first salvo he aimed to low and the other 2 had multiple citadels so in this case all fine.
Jesus, he is going to have to see a chiropractor to fix his back from carrying his whole team like that.
When asked about this game my best description would be a fantasy point and click adventure.

Easy solution to border hugging: every ship hugging the border for more than 30 seconds will get sunk immediatly and the player has to pay 1 billion credits. Problem fixed, if you want to hug the border you can but you will never ever play WOWS again.
A way to stop the border snuggling is make the shipe lose health equal to being on fire or flooding.
