negi haruba went from making a story about a wholesome romcom featuring female quintuplets with a how I met your mother style scenario to making power rangers meets the boys. He's a mad genius.

Honestly aside from the Boys, a reversal of My Hero Academia where All for One is a revolutionary with his rebels against the naive "puppets" of One for All sounds great... Reversals of common tropes and genres does pull an audience if done correctly, just take a look with Overlord.

From my knowlege, there are Power Rangers but romance, Power Rangers but Evil, and Power Rangers but Isekai(The Red Ranger Becomes An Adventurer In Another World). Any other "Power Rangers but" anime/manga I should know about.

Carranger had the Villainess falls in love with Red Ranger plot that the Anime took inspiration from years later.
So I would say do some research on Super Sentai and even Kamen Rider series, there might have been a plot based on the Evil Rangers concept.

both squadron members and ranger means the same thing? You might be confusing it over the common use of each word. Afaik super squadron or super rangers essentially mean the same thing in a lot of cases ahaha

Sentai can be translated into English as like Squadron or Task Force but basically it just means a group of people. It was an old term used in the Japanese military decades ago, as a name for the units like during World War II. So a “Super Sentai” is basically a Super Powered Group of People which was what the heros in Super Sentai are, many people with costumes and powers fighting. Many of the earlier Super Sentai teams were part of some military or heavily funded government secret project which made the usage of a military term like Sentai make so much sense.
Ranger which is an official term used in both Power Rangers and Super Sentai basically refer to the characters and heros. The difference is that you can use ranger as singular and mention one character while Squadron can only be used for talking about a group. Like I can say “This ranger is gonna lose” when a character is getting beaten badly like AbaRed (Dino Thunder Red) getting demolished by AbareKiller (Dino Thunder White). I can also say “Man I really like the Red Rangers who wield swords” which means I am referring to all the rangers and heros who are considered reds across the seasons or I can also say “The Rangers are gonna win” and mean the whole classic 5 rangers + 6th seasonal team fighting the villains. The word Senshi has also been used in Super Sentai to refer to the heros but it basically has the same usage as Rangers.
So basically Squadron is talking about the group and the actual team itself while rangers can mean the group of heros or one singular hero, Squadron has also been rarely used to include members from other teams which is why Red Squadron or Blue Squadron don’t really exist because those are not teams but Red Rangers or Blue Rangers as a term can be used since it’s talking about all these characters.

Power Rangers won’t ever be anime or cartoon because it is against tradition and formula of franchise period.
Power Rangers already has a higher chance to be in other formulas that is not live action because first of all it’s not set in stone that it’s live action and besides they already branched out into comics. Comics that started 8 years ago with numerous lore and different arcs that is entirely different from the main TV show universe which spans 30 years.
Super Sentai has a lesser chance because official Super Sentai anime made by Toei hasn’t happened yet and any manga that we do get isn’t that long, they won’t continue it so it won’t be a long running story that will reach enough pages to be adapted to anime. Like the King-Ohger manga focusing on Rita is the first Reiwa era manga related Sentai thing and came out 6 years after the last manga tie in which involved the Kyurangers (Zords were adapted into Cosmic Fury). Super Sentai hasn’t had many other long running media outside just the tv shows and v-cinemas unlike Power Rangers with their comics that are still going on today even though the TV show is currently on hiatus and Hasbro isn’t doing well or even Kamen Rider who have manga as well but only really 2 series have ones that are long and not just tie ins with like less than 5 chapters.
Being the Kamen Rider Kuuga manga which is a retelling of the story of the show from 2000 and involves Kamen Rider Agito and the Kamen Rider W manga Fuuto Pi which is still ongoing today, the 15th volume came out on the 30th of November. Fuuto Pi also got an anime adaptation in summer of 2022. So Toei’s other property that they pair with Super Sentai has ongoing non live action media that you can access while Super Sentai doesn’t, so sad.
Besides Super Sentai also embraces the Tokusatsu roots more than Power Rangers, in case you don’t know Tokusatsu means and translate to “special effects” and this term is used for live action media like the original Godzilla. This term is a Japanese term and Super Sentai has been a big part of Japanese pop culture so it’s tied to that word to extreme lengths, Power Rangers isn’t bound by this because it’s only considered a Tokusatsu due to using Super Sentai fight footage for 3 decades while not being made in Japan. Power Rangers has no rule that it’s a famous “live action” show because it’s seen as this super long franchise that is apart of a genre that mainly involves special effects in live action. It’s still a Tokusatsu cause of it’s origin but since it’s made in the West it isn’t under those circumstances and plus besides Hasbro wants to detached from it’s Tokusatsu roots and become a generic big block Buster super hero team and stop adapting Super Sentai footage. This hasn’t happened yet and could quite frankly never happen and they in like 2 years keep adapting Super Sentai while having a lot of other non live action media because they can do it while Super Sentai hasn’t.
Thanks for this awesome recommendation i would usually skip power ranger but this has me motivated for fresh new plot.

I actually see what you’re saying and After During My Binge Watching Anime Some of My Favorite Anime Characters from My Favorite Anime Series do Remind of My Favorite Superheroes & Supervillains but it’s Mostly DC and MARVEL and One those Series was Super Crooks and it was Basically a Anime Equivalent of Suicide Squad weather be The Comics,The Movies or The Recent Video Games there’s a Lot More I quite recommend but we’ll be here all day but anyway I will definitely see this series if this suppose be like an Anime Equivalent of The Boys I’ll see it just hope they’ll be an Anime Equivalent of Invincible.

To be honest, the only "The Boys" element in this manga is Red Keeper character trait and how they advertise the war using the media. The "Bad Guys" are bad, evil even and it's totally justified for the Rangers to kill them. But whether or not that excuses the "Heros" basiclly enslaving the foot soldiers is up to debate.

He originally wanted to start off with this series but his then manager convinced him to do QQ in order to ease into getting his work recognized with something more palpable for a general audience.

I'm reminded of the Venjax origin reveal in Power Rangers RPM and one of the Rangers asking "Are we really the good guys?"
Venjix was so cool, Disney leaving that cliff hanger at the end involving him was so shocking because they basically wanted nothing to do with Power Rangers anymore so the year after RPM they didn’t adapt Samurai Sentai Shinkenger and instead aired edited Mighty Morphin episodes in order to waste time so the contract with Toei would end and they would have done minimal effort. So Venjix still being around but not touch upon was surprising. Even more surprising when Hasbro decided to continue that idea in their first Power Rangers season, so they were new to adapting Sentai and decided to go heavy and reference the past. Along with the Sentai which was Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters being 6 years older so Hasbro had to spend more money recreating many suits to match with the older footage and continuing any company’s story. In hindsight there is such a long history in Venjix’s story and it being made and finished in the first place. RPM and Beast Morphers are dope seasons.

1:00 "Sentai" means squadron, not ranger. You're thinking of "senshi" which means "warrior" but it can also be translated to "ranger" or "scout" (like Sailor Moon, aka "Super Sentai for girls before PreCure existed" )
