    hello philip! in rhino 7, rhinosun is missing. where can i find this? Or is there any alternative? thank you!

      @IOANNA KOLAITI - hi, yes I also realized that rhino 7 is a bit different organized but you can still achieve the same result if not better. best I'll do another tutorial on that. but you can open additional menus when right-clicking on the tabs where your layers are and open the sunlight system. but there is more to that.... then in the rendered viewport, shadows need to turned on and the lighting method need to be set to scene lighting. which should be by default. again I best do another tutorial on that. stay tuned.

      @IOANNA KOLAITI - Video to explain the rhinosun in Rhino7, about environmental lighting in the viewport and other options is in the making and will be available next week Thursday Feb 4th :)

      @@PhilippGalvanDesign Hi Philip, thanks for making these tutorials. It seems that RhinoSun is not available in the newer version of Ladybug (I'm using Rhino 6 and Ladybug version 1.10), and your new tutorial (ua-cam.com/video/EQsLhKju0CU/v-deo.html) did not show how to automate views to make a video, could you please explain? Thanks

    • @PhilippGalvanDesign
      @PhilippGalvanDesign  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, the rhino sun control tool was sadly removed in the new Ladybug tools. You can always install both versions parallel if you want.
      I'll have a thought and see if there is an alternative solution.

    Thanks for this tutorial, it's great. Can you share what your display settings were for "rendered" mode? it looks nice and clean.

    • @PhilippGalvanDesign
      @PhilippGalvanDesign  4 місяці тому

      I played with the environment to allow for both sun and skylight. Which gives a more realistic look. The menu is slightly different now. In the viewport settings I used scene lighting not ambient occlusion and I turned on edge lines for surfaces etc... thats all.
      That's all.

    Hi Phillip... really helped a lot... I was trying to animate it acording to your video, but instead of using rendered display mode I set the raytraced so I could get slightly different output ... lets say kind of batch render, but it doesnt work beacuse it did not allow the program to compute the output so the screens are just white... do you have any idea how to solve this... with the raytrace display mode (or render it acording time as batch renderer)

    • @PhilippGalvanDesign
      @PhilippGalvanDesign  2 роки тому

      Sorry, i don't have a solution at them moment but for sure there is. I haven't tried the the raytraced displaymode. does the images come out washed out or just no content?
      if you want to render for example in vray you might want to watch this tutorial: It helped me alot, it's a bit more advanced but quite cool:

      @@PhilippGalvanDesign no its just white space... I suppose that it just because it captures the very first moment of the raytraced mode which needs some time to get ready... I was also trying to get some results with "setonedaysunanimation" which is a bit strange method because it looks like they forget to make this tool complete but I would like to find the way with grasshoper and raytrace display mode... anyway... thanks for a quick response, really apreciate it and thanks for the link... gonna watch it!!

    hello philip. Im trying to generate 50 images over 5 hours using a slider in Grasshopper, but only 5 identical images are produced. it mean each 10 picture are the same. is there any setting that i missed? thank you!

    • @PhilippGalvanDesign
      @PhilippGalvanDesign  5 місяців тому +1

      Hmm well, that's because the sliders don't capture minutes... You would need to modify the script to capture minutes.

    • @PhilippGalvanDesign
      @PhilippGalvanDesign  5 місяців тому

      I think I know the problem now. Watch the video around 10:50. I'm changing the hour slider from integer to float point number to be able to capture minutes. Or let's say fractions of the hours...

      @@PhilippGalvanDesign thx for your response.🙏🏻🌿 I did it. The component (rhino sun) needs hoy andI used (lb calculate hoy) for that. The problem solved by animate minutes slider for per hour. But i should change per hour manually and then animate the minutes. The hour inputs wasnt accept the decimal numbers, and I did it manually as I say.

    Hey Philipp! Thanks a lot for your great tutorials! Very good to follow. I am working with rhino 7 and I've also been following the comments here. Do I get it right, I can still use this tutorial for ladybug also with rhino 7 and the latest ladybug version (1.4)? Whereas "_Set Rhino Sun" now is available there, I am missing the Ladybug tool "EPW STAT" from your tutorial e.g. is there any alternative? Or is the latest version just completely different?
    Greetings

      Hi User01, this was done with Ladybug Legacy Tools. The older version of Ladybug.
      The new version is missing some tools...
      I should do a follow-up video. You can however install the legacy tools together with the current Ladybug tools.

      @@PhilippGalvanDesign Yes! Maybe I just have a more recent version? I downloaded the LadyBug Tools from Grasshopper 1.0.0 and the tools seem a bit different, Do you think I can still follow your instructions? Also, I was wondering if your script was available somewhere? Thank you so much!!

    • @PhilippGalvanDesign
      @PhilippGalvanDesign  4 роки тому +1

      @Marian Ag Bazet. I myself just installed the latest Ladybug tools 1.1.0. It's indeed a bit different.
      Some components might have been dropped entirely. Like the rhino sun controller it seems.
      I will need some time myself to create follow up tutorials.
      However, you can install the older components alongside the new installation if you want to follow along my script.
      The tools can all co-exist in GH. They are on the same download page (food for rhino) called 'legacy plugins'...
      Regarding sharing my ladybug scripts, yes i had the idea but didn't got to work on a good solution like patreon page or similar...
      In future there will be a solution probably early next year...
      Best
      Philipp

    Hi Philipp, thanks for doing these tutorials - I find them very helpful! I have a simple question about the shadow study. When I go into exporting the frames for animation, my objects' preview is in 'wireframe' and I can't get to figure out how to change it to 'rendered'. Do you know where the problem is? Thanks! :)

    • @PhilippGalvanDesign
      @PhilippGalvanDesign  3 роки тому +1

      @Simona U. Hope I can help but not hundred percent sure if I address the right problem. But let's see. Things you can check: Your viewport in rhino need be in rendered display mode in the first place. Then when you export, the same viewport need to be selected. When you right click the slider for exporting the animation a window dialog opens where you can select the viewport. Where it says: 'source and resolution' underneath is 'Viewport' and next to it is a dropdown list with the active viewports.
      Is your object an object in rhino or generated in grasshopper. if the object is in grasshopper you need to bake it first in order to it to appear shaded and create shadows with it.
      If you are in rendered viewport mode but your object is wireframe then you might have set a individual display mode for the object only. you can change that with the command 'SetObjectDisplayMode'
      You might also want to watch one of my other videos on the rendered viewport mode here:
      ua-cam.com/video/EQsLhKju0CU/v-deo.html
      (although this is for rhino7 but pretty much applies to rhino 5 and 6 as well)
      I hope it works but let me know if you are successful or if you need further help.
      cheers
      Philipp

    where can I download Ladybug and some Tools from Ecotect?

    • @PhilippGalvanDesign
      @PhilippGalvanDesign  4 роки тому

      You can find Ladybug here: www.food4rhino.com/
      or here: www.ladybug.tools/ladybug.html (which will lead you to the same download)
      You need to sign up at 'food for rhino' but it's free and there are many more cool plugins to check out.
      Ecotect doesn't exist as standalone software anymore. From my understanding it was assimilated by Autodesk some years ago.
      Nevertheless my next videos will showcase ladybug with what was previously done in ecotect.
      hope that helps
      cheers

    • @PhilippGalvanDesign
      @PhilippGalvanDesign  4 роки тому

      Hi Diego. I'm not 100 percent sure but it should though. Latest version of rhino works on mac what I understood which should have grasshopper integrated. It would be weird if it wouldn't work. Ladybug is written in python so there shouldn't be a problem on this side either.
