A cool detail for those who didn't notice; In the alley scene, they digitally de-aged Matt since he's supposed to be a young Eobard, and you can clearly notice the difference between scenes. Budgetary constraints probably didn't allow them to do the same during the bar scene where his face clearly looks more wrinkled, since that scene is mostly a close up, and as such would require a lot more attention to detail, therefore, be a lot more expensive to edit.
Even before Eobard said he was here to end his existence, Barry would have already known he's the past Thawne that killed his mom since 1) they're both at the exact date of his mother's murder and 2) he still has his own face from before he killed Harrison Wells, and from a narrative perspective, Thawne wearing Wells' face is a way to distinguish him from his time remanents
