You can but those separate and I would recommend, but they won't come with the ice machines. If your drain pump were to stop working, that's a great failsafe to protect your cabinets. Thanks for the comment.
We will be installing ours in the coming days. I'm still unsure on how to plumb in the drain line in a way that would prevent any backups into the ice maker. Our set up has a garbage disposal and a dishwasher already existing. Our ice maker has a drain pump, not a gravity fed drain. Can you give any clarification on how we need to plumb in the drain line correctly?
Hello there, the ice maker in this video is hooked up under a sink with both a garbage disposal and a dishwasher on the same drain line. At first I was concerned about that same issue but haven't had any problems at all, and have had everything running all at once. The ice maker in the video also has a drain pump to push out the extra water. The key is that the sink drain widens out the lower down it goes towards the floor, and I put in a T to connect in below where the dishwasher drain comes in under the garbage disposal. I suspect there is also a feedback preventer in these ice maker units for safety, but you can also see the water flowing one way from the ice maker through the drain tube while the dishwasher is running to verify there isn't an issue. I hope this helps! 🧊
Just make sure you have a nice rise on the drain hose as well. It’s totally within code to hook up to drain that way as long as you connect it before the P-trap not after as this will let stink into your ice maker.

Good info on the install!
Thanks, Install time can be done in about an hour.
What about the safety drain pan in case of a leak?
