Thanks Pete, watching in our pool in WA and basting in 40C. Agree with a few on here, the '8' is a range that only a mother could love as residuals will hit the floor. Only the strong (M's) will survive through the transition taking hold. True iconic drivers cars will be the greatest investments (M2, 3 & 1M).
While I'm not in love with the M8 Comp styling it seems BMW have made a modern car which incites want in me. Sublime review Pete, a masterclass presentation.
Brilliant video review, great content. Very well done Pete and BMW ................. Stunning car. Going to my local BMW dealer this weekend to look, touch and feel for myself. Thanks
That is one of the reasons I started. I'd see trips like this and think how amazing it would be. 4 years of hard work later and I am very fortunate to experience driving cars like this on the most amazing roads 🙏
Wow! What a car PP. I loved every second of your test ride. Your description of the car was spot on. Oh how I love those big powerful tire burning V8's. Wish I was with you in beautiful sunny Spain for at least a week with the car of course. Shalom P.S. I could almost smell the rubber and the exhaust.
I was thoroughly expecting not to like this car but found myself really wanting one. £150k or more likely whatever that comes to monthly on a company car lease isn't really bad value compared to what you'd have to pay for an optioned up Bentley or Aston. I'd have one, but three years down the line when somebody else has paid the depreciation for me. Make a nice car for a grand tour down to the Italian lakes. A very slick video production by the way Pete.
Looks a great car, but as you say that price is a huge factor. Having owned a M car in the past it can be painful when you come to move it on. Those rear seats are like what I had in my M3 and that a surprise considering how big the car is. Lovely roads and some sun, can’t be all bad 😉
Thanks... There's a reason why they held this is Spain. Because if they held this on British roads... it would be an epic fail due to the poor road conditions there. These M8 Competitions are tuned to good mountain roads like these. Everyone who drives these kinds of roads in Europe or in the mountain roads of California just rave about the confidence inspiring awesome performance. Nevertheless, BMW could make the ride softer in comfort mode. There are a few reports of a nice supple ride on the 2024 M8 Competition Gran Coupe in comfort mode. Glad you had a great experience, even if it was three years ago.😊 Gord
Crazy how the exhaust is louder, more crackly and poppy on the M850i. BMW gives you that to make up for the missing 75 horsepower you would have if you got the M8 I guess? And, assumes that since you have 625hp in the M8, you don't car what the exhaust sounds like? My '18 M6 was like that too, quieter than a 650i. Strange, but such a badass beauty the M8 and M850i.
What a truly amazing car! It certainly looks like a fantastic all round package and looks stunning. The sound is awesome, Must try to hear one in person 😉 The scenery and in particular those roads look truly epic 😉👌🏻
BMW designed this car especially for you Pete. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yourself in the passenger seat with Mrs P in the drivers seat ( cos she is the better driver 😁😁😁😁 ) the two dogs in the rear seats barking the correct directions to negotiate ( because ladies occasionally get lost ) 😁😁😁😁😁 Great vid mate, All the kindest Steve.
How old do you have to be before a car like this starts to appeal? Will be tremendous value 2nd hand after the inevitable cliff drop depreciation though.
Hi Ped Yet another very informative video review. Plus points- driving dynamics, attention to detail, interior, sound yes yes🤙🤙. However cannot say I am a fan of the front end styling. Car is too big, and way too expensive.😬😬. Excellent summary Coupe V Convertible, could not agree more.🤗🤗
Looks big, drives big on the motorway, but then when you get to a nice twisty road or a circuit it drives like a small car. The only time you get reminded you are driving a heavy car is on corner entry if you go in a little hot 😂
You've certainly come a long way from 'hire car hit or miss'! One thing that would really put me off buying the M8 and any new BMW M car is that the value will drop like a stone. A few years down the line and this car will probably be great value.
Love Cornwall, love the life, see the sign on the A30 (for me) & you know you home 👍, are you renting?, is this the start of petroleum head head holidays 😂
Ceramic brakes are great, but on current British roads where there is a high chance of damage? I have them on my car, which originally lived in Monaco, and replacement cost for 4 corners not even including labour charges +£16,000. I doubt whether BMW costs would be much cheaper.
Fanastic driving roads. I think price would mean it's on " If I won the lottery car list." though. What was the difference in feel and performance between the two braking modes? Was there a difference in servo assistance? 🤔
The car looks nice but way to big for me. Love the sound!! To be honest I wouldn’t buy one if I had that kind of money I’d buy a Porsche like a 911 turbo S. Great video though sir Pete. I enjoyed the scenery of Spain
Hard to justify spending around £130,000 on this flagship M model when it will be available for half that price in 2-3 years time. Never understood why more convertibles are sold in the UK than any other part of Europe with our weather , i guess we must be a hardy bunch ! :-)
It is possible for it to be too hot for a soft top. My favourite time to drive with the roof down is during the winter on a crisp sunny day with my heated seats on 😂
OH such a good car. Excellent all rounder for a European Ultra Trip. German autobahn, Swiss views, Italian mountain road blasts and this car can do it all. But, BUT, that price. It puts it into a very competitive market that has sports cars that can do cruising better than this cruising car trying to do sports car. It's a really nice car, but I don't think I could pay that price for a BMW.
I don't understand why people are prepared to pay £20,000 extra for some carbon. Would you pay that much money to have carbon photo/picture frames dotted around your house, because that is essentially what it is.
Love the car, but not the price. If you`ve the money to buy this, you certainly would not want to live in the UK. Epic roads in Spain. For miles! Was it a bit scary in rear wheel drive mode?
Certainly a good looking car with the performance to match. However, is it worth the extra £40,000 odd over the M5 Performance which has 2 more doors? It's exterior looks, (It's good. But not gorgeous like an E-Type!) certainly don't justify that extra over the M5. Though the interior does look a notch above it.
Great video, as always , was just wondering if you could do us all a MASSIVE favour ???? Next time your in a "sunny" location, could you perhaps do a short 5 second video of the SUN to remind us poor brits what the damn thing looks like, my neighbours are well into their construction of the ARK !!!!!
Which bit in particular. I like my current set up as it is very quick to put in the car and change angles. Very important for press trip like this as you often have seconds to get cameras in the car. Two issues with the shoot though. First was my main camera (the one I take audio from) came slightly loose on it's mount and was vibrating slightly. I only spotted this at the end of the day when it was too late. The other was I had a passenger and wanted to crop them out so did this in the edit which drops the quality of my face cam slightly 😪
@@PetrolPed image and sound quality are lacking for 2019 youtube standards. People nowdays notice this things, and in an environment like youtube where there is a lot of content availlable, people tend to choose the more professional looking videos. If you want a person who cliked on one of your videos to subscribe to your channel you have to offer them a more professional approach in terms of image quality. I'm not talking about the editing, subjects or your skills as a youtuber, just about the video quality. You need a better camera, because the image is either to bright (overexposed) or too dark (underexposed) and the colors look washed out to. A camera with superior HDR capabilities and a better microphone. Thats' all you need, mate. Good luck with your channel!
So.... The price of three M2's... Which look almost as good and drive better on the road If Liberace were to buy a chest wig chariot, this would be it. Although he would preferred the big Swarkowski 'knob'
I’d rather have an m5 competition and spend the £20000 on modifications. No I wouldn’t , I’d buy a Holden gtsr w1. 640 bhp proper sounding v8 not fake audio and a manual gearbox.💪👌
The engine does not sound very good. Perhaps this is due to the new European sound regulations. I am not saying that loud is better, but this engine is so uninvolving. If manufacturers had not built some truly obnoxious sounding engines that owners woke their neighborhood up with, maybe they would not be facing these regulations. However, I believe that some manufacturers will have a different exhaust for the U.S. that will have a better sound. Sure hope so.
I talked about this at the beginning and did say it sounded good considering the emissions challenges we have in Europe. BMW had a straight pipe M8 and Goodwood this year and believe me it sounded AWESOME 😮👏👏
The M8 doesn’t have rear steering only on the M850i rear steering
*Great times here my friend*
Indeed 👍
Evening pal. Bloody love this. Love love love it.

Lovely your work as always Pete. You lucky lucky man!

Great video Pete, what a lovely car👌😀

best m8 comp video on UA-cam
Thanks 🙏🏻
Does it have rear steering?! I thought not !
How much is this BMw in south African rand?
Multiply by 23.5 to covert GBP to Rand 👍
Those roads ... I want a go! 😍
They were MEGA !!!

Ahhh...those were the days. That was the only way I could get hold of cars to review 😂
i don't know if i missed it but what color is that?
Pete a great vid clip[ as always. To much cash when a 911 soft top would look better and have a better interior.
I think this has a better interior than the 992 👍
For one horrible moment I thought You were reviewing the i8. Phew!!🤣
Are you racer Mr. Justin Bell, the Dodge Viper GTS generation 5 guy?
Great vid fella, but damnnnnnn how much money! Would have to see what I think myself.
Very pricey but a top car to drive. Very clever how it goes from big GT to nimble sports car 😳
Petrol Ped yeah it seems to be a surprisingly versatile beast 👍
Pete. You need to do one of the Petrolhead Tours in Spain epic roads, bring Ruby roadster
Damn right I do. I had no idea Spain had such amazing roads 👏
Love Cornwall, love the life, see the sign on the A30 (for me) & you know you home 👍, are you renting?, is this the start of petroleum head head holidays 😂
Yes we will be renting it out as a holiday let in the new year 👍

Not necessary for most drivers and the standard rotors are HUGE, and that would drop the price a lot 👍
You hooligan! I think you need to do the same intro for every video now!
And the intro to your video will be...😂
Roads look brilliant, probably even better on a Fireblade or R1 😬
Fanastic driving roads. I think price would mean it's on " If I won the lottery car list." though. What was the difference in feel and performance between the two braking modes? Was there a difference in servo assistance? 🤔
My bad but I only drove it in Sport Braking as we were giving it the beans in the mountains 😂
The car looks nice but way to big for me. Love the sound!! To be honest I wouldn’t buy one if I had that kind of money I’d buy a Porsche like a 911 turbo S. Great video though sir Pete. I enjoyed the scenery of Spain
That would be tempting wouldn't it 😬
A fine car Pete and £150,000 which means £89990 in 12 months time or maybe less! Then it becomes a bargain!
Yep 👍

My favourite BMW is the 1M. Small with just the right amount of power.
KangoV is that different to the M1? Jesus wept...
The 1M was a cracking little car. Never been lucky enough to drive one though 😪
Yes it is 👍

The most expensive element of that pack are the carbon ceramic brakes. Brilliant but probably not necessary for most people 🤔
What is the name of the color? Motegi Red???
Aventurine Red I believe
Definitely not motegi red. Either aventurine red or ametrin...
Love the car, but not the price. If you`ve the money to buy this, you certainly would not want to live in the UK. Epic roads in Spain. For miles! Was it a bit scary in rear wheel drive mode?
We drove roads like that for about 100km during the day ! In a straight line 2WD mode was fun. I didn't try it in the corners though 😂😂😂
Love the M8 and it sounds beautiful but the price I don’t like mate.Have to sell a few organs 😂
Get that kidney on EBay 😂
Petrol Ped Going to have too 😂

@@PetrolPed - For insurance and petrol. Good idea. I'd just go for either of the M5's :-))...

👍🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👍🏻
Famous five lol. 2nd!

Hi there 👋
Just so expensive. 911 GT3 money and I know what I’ll take
German car, with options ?. Surely not :)
LOL 😂
they need a badge or something on the outside of the glove box! It is just too plain!
Total garbage for that kinda money! Would get a Hellcat instead and drive on this shit like nothing 🤣🤣🤣
Too big
emonty999 you’re too small
Doesn't feel that way when you drive it 👍
Stupid amount of money
