It was inevitable that someone would do this, and I am not sorry. Total Homestuck reference count so far: 1. Pa is Jade's Grandpa 2. The Babysitter is Rose's Mom 3. Two Lord English toys (action figure and castle) 4. Sufferer plush 5. Crossed blunderbusses over an icon that looks suspiciously like Bec's head 6. Skaianet calendar 7. Baking thing a reference to Jane? Present from Nanna? 8. Portmanteau words for regular game concepts 9. A Manthro Chap 10. A quote from the "what a daring dream" speech 11. Acorn's Shadow is clearly a reference to Detective Pony (either Hussie's own joke or the beloved fanfic continuation, same thing either way), as it is the name of the final chapter, and the description describes Detective Pony perfectly 12. Use of the word "cascade" upon examining Joey's diary reminiscent of the way Scratch used it - also possible that the word "cascade" itself is a reference given that it was used twice 13. Joey uses some of Grandpa's/Jake's antiquated phrases 14. "I believe in you" possible reference to Jake, since Jake is technically Jude's biological father. 15. 413 16. 612 17. 1111 Good GOD. That's almost one reference per minute. That is an absolutely preposterous amount of references to make in such a short amount of time. Just how many are there going to be throughout the REST of the game? If you noticed any I missed, please tell me.
Those diary entries are references to homestuck, just like a lot of other things. April 13th is john's birthday, and June 12th is when we get inteoduced formally to the trolls. Also 1994? So this pre dates homestuck, making this a prequel. Which would make sense, considering roxy is their baby sitter, and she is all grown up later.
bringoutthelegos no, it's like Ainara said, she's "Mom" when she was younger... so it's the pre-scratch world (John, Rose, Dave, and Jade) but before those characters were born
"Oh my God, how many things are there for me to interact with? This is actually going to be a problem, maybe." Well, I was overly thorough and took my sweet time, and it took me nearly 2 hours to get to the title card so ... there's a few things to interact with :x
Bubblegum Timber yeah, but then it only took me another 2 hours to complete the rest of the game ... So I suppose it really lives up to its name as "Act 1"
The mom..? I wished he had said Roxy because she's clearly wearing her pink cat shirt. I know that Hiveswap doesn't completely correlate with homestuck, but still :c
Remember: it's been years since I read any Homestuck, and I only read half of it, so my ability to remember every variant of the original 4's name is gonna be kinda hard. Heck, I barely remember anyone's name from any media, let alone Homestuck.
lots of people got lost during the hiatuses. Some say even Hussie perished in the great pause, his life shattered by several events, and that tumblr infested his corpse.
Esteban Rodríguez Before comprehending it and only reading the first sentence I actually thought that you were lying because your icon looks like Dirk's glasses.
well, from all the channels that im subscribed to, i would never thought that YOU would play this game... well, you'r not one of those impatient idiots that rush an story driven game, so thats an plus... ultra.
You should defiantly go back to HS, it is so worth it. Act 1 is kind of a slog but with it all "complete" it's much easier to go through. The best way to get through act 1 and to get back into it is to honestly watch the "Let's Read" On the voxus youtube channel
ermaigerd single best video game intro ever? Ahh yes, the age where you are old enough to start solving logical puzzles yet just barely young enough to notice supernatural things like giant Joey-eating monsters where it does not matter how poorly you are hiding as long as you are~
AHHH! Roxy was the drunk babysitter! Yep that sounds like her. Edit: But I think the dad was either John or Jake? I don't know but they dropped off stupid mummies so I would think it could be them?? Also Jude, Joey, Jake, John??????
I hate that fandoms have the power to sour a series for people, but having been on DeviantArt around 2007-2009, I saw a LOT of horrifying homestuck troll fandom nonsense and it really turned me off of ever touching the series. Same is kinda true for things like Undertale, Doctor Who, and MLP. While I realize the loudest parts of a fanbase do not necessarily represent the majority, they are still very polarizing to people who are not yet interested in whatever the series is. Regardless, I'm gonna give this series of videos a chance, which is more than I can say for a lot of things.
Ainara My memory is a little off, I guess. I just remember it being when I was active-ish on Deviant Art, which I stopped being active 2012ish. So I just kind of assumed it was shortly after I joined.
Since the game is mostly just text descriptions I decided to play this alone. It would be neat to have her there, but we'd never get anywhere as a result. Or we'd just randomly trade off reading text boxes, which feels like a waste of her time.
+Emerald Tricrafter I'm a huge fan of hussie's earlier works, so I figured I might as well give it a go. Homestuck kinda lost me when the trolls showed up, but I can't say it was a bad move storytelling-wise. Hiveswap is pretty good so far though, so I'mma stick with it.
so what you're trying to tell me is that you wouldn't play the game even though it looks good just because Homestuck fandom had a bad reputation?? I'm sorry but I think that's stupid and I heard that Undertale fandom is far worse than Homestuck fandom anyway.
+Jeff the bot I understand that, bro... Our fandom was bad, everyone knows it, but we were a fun fandom and I hope we end up that way again. Every fandom gets bad or has a bad side
It was inevitable that someone would do this, and I am not sorry.

Karkat Vantas there was a piano in one of the rooms. Joey may have said something along the lines of playing, but not knowing how.
I kno! It prolly takes place after homestuck, or before. Oh, theres also a refrence to the Condesence.
It takes place ages before Homestuck. Homestuck is set in 2009.
What, in this video?
Dude. . . Blue Beauties
Karkat Vantas

bringoutthelegos wait, but isn't roxy also from the post-apocalyptic future?
She's Roxy, but the "Mom" version of Roxy. When Mom was younger.
Ainara oh, ok, pre-scratch, got it
CreepeRave she must've traveled back in time, nor this is an alternate universe.
bringoutthelegos no, it's like Ainara said, she's "Mom" when she was younger... so it's the pre-scratch world (John, Rose, Dave, and Jade) but before those characters were born
I'm watching this and I keep saying "USE THE ITEMS ON DIFFERENT OBJECTS! THE FUNNY COMMENTARY IS FANTASTIC!"
The next few episodes are pretty much consumed by using items on other items. It's kind of nonsense.
18:15
No sir, that is DEFINITELY the mom from homestuck.
I've read/watched/co-read all of Homestuck over the past half-decade.
I hope you eventually get around to finishing it eventually, Wander!
I never thought this game would come out
Love the music in the beginning action scene

Yeees! Hoped someone I was subbed to would begin a playthrough of this, should've expected it to be Wander :P
"Oh my God, how many things are there for me to interact with? This is actually going to be a problem, maybe."
Well, I was overly thorough and took my sweet time, and it took me nearly 2 hours to get to the title card so ... there's a few things to interact with :x
Notty Rainbow... Oh...oh my god.... Seriously?
Bubblegum Timber yeah, but then it only took me another 2 hours to complete the rest of the game ... So I suppose it really lives up to its name as "Act 1"
Yo what? I was not expecting this. Pleasant surprise though.

WanderBots knows Homestuck? My day was just made
HUNGRY HUNGRY HIPPOS MY CHILDHOOD

I should really get back to homestruck, but I kinda lost where I left.
Really nice animations, and they changed by the time she talked to her bro.

Horrible 2012 bucket puns.

2007-2009? But Homestuck started in 2009, and trolls didn't happen in-story until 2010
Ainara My memory is a little off, I guess. I just remember it being when I was active-ish on Deviant Art, which I stopped being active 2012ish. So I just kind of assumed it was shortly after I joined.
Morgan Crabtree I hope my apology on the part of the "fandom" helps.
no it can't be NOOO

Hi ^_^ I love Hiveswap!
Yeah! Someone is playing this game! 😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇
Wait is chell not joining you on this game, seems like something she'd be with you on to make sure you checked everything.
Since the game is mostly just text descriptions I decided to play this alone. It would be neat to have her there, but we'd never get anywhere as a result. Or we'd just randomly trade off reading text boxes, which feels like a waste of her time.
OH SHIIIIIIIIIIIIT BOIIIIIII
AW YEAH
prequel adventure hasn't updated though.
I want to ask if it's even playable without reading the comics... cuz i dunno what's that all about.
I'd say so. Ultimately you'll miss out on a ton of references, but the core content of the game will generally be just as easy to understand.
hi im homestuck
Hi homestuck, I'm male parental figure
do i see a certain someone playing le hiveswap? (I didn't know he knew about it)
+Emerald Tricrafter I'm a huge fan of hussie's earlier works, so I figured I might as well give it a go. Homestuck kinda lost me when the trolls showed up, but I can't say it was a bad move storytelling-wise.

I don't know how to feel about this game, it looks alright but...
It's Homestuck
Jeff the bot ?????
Luna Moonlight. Homestuck's fan base had a bad reputation, it's pretty much undertale before it was a thing
so what you're trying to tell me is that you wouldn't play the game even though it looks good just because Homestuck fandom had a bad reputation?? I'm sorry but I think that's stupid and I heard that Undertale fandom is far worse than Homestuck fandom anyway.
Luna Moonlight. I'm not saying that, I'm just saying it feels weird
+Jeff the bot I understand that, bro... Our fandom was bad, everyone knows it, but we were a fun fandom and I hope we end up that way again. Every fandom gets bad or has a bad side
