- If you haven’t played Dead Space 2 yet you are missing an absolute treat. If you have played it you may be wondering how certain scenes or events work. Maybe how the protagonist makes the seamless transitions through the chapters or even if there are any out of bounds secrets hidden off camera to be found. In this video I’ll be doing my best to show you those things as well as developer tricks and what's happening behind the scenes as we take a look, just how does Dead Space 2 work off camera?

Thank you everyone! It's amazing to post after a full year out and see new and older viewers coming to support the channel. With two part-time jobs and family now, it's tricky to find time to work on content these days, though I will try to upload as much as I can, when I can, even in 'short' format.
Thanks again! Take care and I'll catch you soon.
Your accent. My guess is Burnley Lancashire
Welcome Back. We All Missed You. Your Year Off Was A Good Opportunity For New Games To Come Out. Don't Give Up On Making Videos. Your Videos Truly Make My Day
At 6:16, it’s one of the explosive canisters on the gunship you shoot during the fight, it sits at the origin point until you enter the cutscene, then the canisters appear on the ship. You can actually shoot it out there and it will skip the gunship section and send you flying into ch6. We actually do something similar in the speedrun but we shoot the ship as it appears instead
Wow!
Hey, thank you for this explanation!
I see that you do speedruns - do you have some short-term content? I unfortunately don't have the time to watch an entire run, but I would be interested to watch some compilations, of glitches or facts that are generally interesting about the game, not just for speedruns. Or some highlights.
@@tom_606HQ if you want some shorter content, waifu has some pretty good videos about ds2 that explain some of the tricks
@@radish1972 You know that there are many results if I search on "waifu" on the internet....😅
And I don't even dare searching "waifu dead space".
That's pretty awesome and totally makes sense now you mention it. Thanks for the comment!
As someone who is partially deaf, I really appreciate how well you handle CCs. They're more descriptive than most channels, or at least the ones that even bother to add proper CCs to their videos. Thank you!
I love Slippy's CCs, my hearing is great, but my english is limited, and having subtitles helps a lot!
The amount of effort that goes into each Slippy's video... he deservers a lot more views than he gets.
I do like to spend a fair amount of time going over them, to make sure they're right for anybody who may need them. So it's really great to receive a comment like this to let me know that they're helping out. Thank you!
No offense. But you sound like kinda a prick. Your disability is not other people's problem to "bother" with.
It’s three weeks so you probably won’t see this but I’ll do it anyway. I’m in awe as to how dedicated you are to this. I can’t even find the time and energy to do the dishes but you’ve spent hours just for a few second clip in a video about an old game’s little curiosity detail. That’s dedication right there. I remember a while back you’ve been cynical about the future of the channel and I completely understood because it’s way too much work and only a small demographic of people are interested in such geeky stuff but still here you are even with very little spare time going strong. Some of us can’t even find time to play the game let alone do detail surgery on it. Thanks man looking forward for more
The definition of "fake it till you make", a very important skill to learn in life that even game developers need to utilize to get the job done. Love you Visceral!!
Good stuff! DS2 was an amazing sequel. So many memorable moments. The poor guy up on that solar array station way above Titan who was pretty much all alone (apart from his birds) and forced to endure that AI on there...I remember being genuinely sad after reading his text logs :(
You want to know the one thing that I never understood about that chapter? The entire chapter and story revolves around him being alone, and the elevator offline, but there are dozens to hundreds of necromorphs on the solar array….
Lol interesting eyebrow raise to an otherwise really sad story
@@crf1096 Rather intoxicated as I write this - but my impression on that (which I remember wondering about myself) was that those necromorphs were either the crew who resupplied his particular post and/or people who had fled to his station in an attempt to escape the mayhem below but were already well on their way to becoming infected on their way up.
@@crf1096well, so long as the multiplayer campaigns are canon (of which I'm 99% sure they are), tiedeman sends his security personnel up there to bugger the solar beam that issac just reignited so there's a very real chance that they aren't the first he's sent up there since the outbreak
@@MARKHENSTROM I was rather intoxicated when I played DS2, so I can't remember any story relevancy or connections, just the set pieces, which is probably why I like Dead Space 1 more, it just felt more cohesive
this is a video I've always wanted... I just didn't think anyone would care enough to make a free camera since dead space isn't that popular. Thank you for this video ❤
6:23 What a nice way to hide a Steam key! It looks like you have not edited the video, but the game itself! It looks so perfect that I almost missed it.
Key is obviously already redeem by someone else.
I can confirm it was edited in game. And it was a pain in the ass to do lol.
It'd be cool to find out who redeemed it actually.
I love how this game has continuity where you can see how far you’ve come from the hospital at the far arm of the sprawl at some points.
wait, you can?
The chosen one, he reappeared when we needed him the most.💜
Welcome back slippy slide, been a while since you last uploaded
I massively appreciate your camera work! Also the side by sides of the original and your alternate views really made for some incredible behind the scenes. Killer job!
Its reminiscent of the behind the scenes I saw at Universial Studios Hollywood.
THE KING RETURNS! WELCOME BACK!
He returns!
Yes, he's back!
Yooo welcome back
Wow exactly a year later! Great to see ya posting again. Really enjoyed your look into and insight into the Resi series especially!
Thanks for the support OSW! Glad you enjoyed the video. I guess with RE4 Remake around the corner there could be more Resi content coming soon.
Good to watch one of your vids again!!
Slippy’s long awaited return is finally here and what a return it is! Awesome video, Slippy. Nobody matches your quality!
Thanks as always for the support oddheader, that genuinely means a lot coming from you my friend.
So awesome to see you back! I missed your videos. Please keep doing them.
Litterly just found your channel by a random recommended video.... Subbed straight away. Can't believe UA-cam hasn't suggested you years ago!
I can't lie, I missed you slippy
Woah!!! Welcome back, your absence was felt no doubt
Amazing job man , you must have put a lot of time into this .
It certainly takes quite some time. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks.
So good to see you posting again, Slippy.
Really great video, man. I was quite interested on learning how directors play with the cameras on videogames and this video is incredibly helpful. Awesome work!
It's alive!
I'm so happy you have returned! Hope you are doing well.
just subbed yesterday i love your vids!
Thanks for the sub. Hope you enjoy the future content too!
Wow! Thanks so much for making this video! I've been looking everywhere for this! Dead Space 2 is one of my favorite games of all time and even upon release, I was incredibly impressed with the graphics and technology and always wondered how the game is able to flow seamlessly without having to load all the time. Nice work in showcasing the sneaky developer tricks used in the game. And as far as I know, you've pretty much answered all of my questions in one video from space exploration to chapter loading and even the marker chamber. Thanks again for making this video!
This was a real treat to watch as I was very immersed in Dead space 2 when i played it. Best single player game ever, the lore is too good 👍
Back when games were optimized ! Now AAA studios just throw a lot of high details 3D models with bad LOD and this is how we end with so bad performance. Even with the computers with have today, sometimes using 2D renders at really far distance is a nice technique and the illusion work perfectly.
Wow this game looks really cool from a different angle! Thanks for showing this! This is one of the best games ive seen out of bounds, so cool
Good to see my second favorite boundary break youtuber returning
Second 👀
@@SlippySlideslooks like you have to boundary break his kneecaps
Great stuff, but there was two things I was hoping to see:
-The other patients being attacked in the intro. You can't really stick around since you're in a straightjacket and being chased by instakill necros the whole way.
-The EarthGov firing squad. All you can really see is a wall of riot shields and laser sights. Also, the flood of necromorphs after you cut the power.
Yep these are exactly what I wanted to see but glossed right over. Huge bummer
Earthgov soldiers are INVISIBLE,theres no model for em.Other patients are just behind glass
6:10, its the explosive canisters that are on the ship that you and the tormentor are fighting on.
Yay! You're back!
When I tell you I've been waiting for this video! Thank you so much for posting! LOVE the content and please keep the dead space vids coming!
The return of the King!
Came here to search for RE4R out of camera. Glad to see you back after a whole year
11:29 You could have shown the eye-surgery failing....
Hey Tom, good to see you here. I wasn't sure if the video would get slapped with an age restriction or worse for showing that. So I removed it to be on the safe side. Though I do have plans to show it as a Short or on Twitter etc.
This video needs more recognition!
Now we want a video on Dead Space 3 and Dead Space Remake off camera!
Great video! Man, that eye scene...
But how did you not include anything from Ishimura??
Glad to see you back
Such an awesome video and shows how creative these devs are. Dead Space 2 is one of my favorite games and being able to learn more about the universe, or game itself, is always welcome.
I barely understand half of the wat resource management works
but damn, it's interesting to see.
Was watching the older videos just 2 days ago, love to see you have a new video out! And all the best for you and your family!
Was sad to see you hadn’t posted in a long while but I’m glad you’re doing well and that you’re back. Also glad you’re doing one of my favorite games!
It's been awhile since we had a Slippy Slides video, welcome back.
Thank you! I’ve always wanted to see this from a developer’s perspective. This helped immensely. Pretty much confirmed my suspicions but those pre render video’s were genius along with the elevators.
I said it before and I say it again: this game is a masterpiece and it doesn't need a remake, it's perfect and I played it so many times. Thank you for this interesting video, hope to see more to come 😄😄😄
The first didn't need a remake either
@@idiot_city5444 the first had a big problem with the aiming, it was somehow to slow and unplayable. The remake has tposing enemies 🥶
@@levelupfanatic All the first game needed was a port on the Dead Space 2/3 engine and updates to the textures and lighting system.
Dead Space 2 doesn't need a remake. I personally just want a fourth game and close off the story.
If the DS2 remake is of the same level as the DS1 remake then I definitely want one. DS1 remake was 10/10, resident evil remakes level good
Hope you comeback foreal man!
I love all these creative ways developers play with our perception in cutscenes
6:16 totally a blimp a (wait for it) *SPACE BLIMP* of the 23rd and a half century
wondering why isaac's rig is yellow during the opening scene where he's in a hospital before the outbreak
I’ve been waiting for this!!!
Yay a new slippy slides video
So happy to see you back Slippy!
he bacc
you are back, please make more video
I would to see the necromorphs covering something that Ellie sees and later says they're breaking apart or there's thousands through her perspective.
Highly doubt there would be anything, the player never sees it so the devs wouldnt render anything
Wow, what an eye opening video!
Very, very awesome! Some engineering artisanship went into this
I can’t wait for your Resident Evil 4 remake videos, they are going to be as aswesome as the ones you did for RE2 and RE3 remake
Welcome back Slippy, you've made us whole again.
new game: Take a drink every time the dude says "Whilst"
good that came back with the videos, I hope the next ones
Slippy ! You're finally back !!!
Oh god I forgot about the eye scene haha
6:07 I have in-fact no clue what this mysterious object is, but there might be a chance that it is a left-over from the Severed DLC that has not been ported to PC...
What dlc?
@@Хорошийигровойканал I said it.
Severed DLC. It's a console exclusive
@@tom_606HQ well i need to google that. Doesn't know that i missed some story content due to platform exclusivity. Thanks!
Find sharkhats comment that explains what it is
@@Хорошийигровойканал I heavily recommend checking it out!
But first play Dead Space: Extraction either via Dolphin (Wii Emulator) or RPCS3 (PS3 Emulator)
On Dolphin, it was a bit tricky to config the game to work on kb+mouse, but I got it to work eventually via trial and error.
RPCS3 will work perfectly if you got a controller, or you can try mapping it. RPCS3 is more CPU expensive, Dolphin can even run on a phone!
Dead Space: Extraction is, however, not much like the pervious DS games. Dead Space 2: Severed DLC is much more like a DS game, but it focuses on the story of DS:E, but gameplay-vise, you are re-visiting locations from the main ds2 story retrospectively. (Just location-wise, not story-wise)
Severed DLC is pretty short, but fun none-the-less!
And if you REALLY cannot get enough of Dead Space, you can play Dead Space Mobile (good luck finding that) or Dead Space: Ignition. Ignition is the worst dead space game ever made - you are watching an animation movie and then you play a ,,hacking minigame" and that's it - so play that only if you love the dead space story and cannot get enough of it, regardless the form.
make a "How Does Chief Mendez Work Off Camera Resident Evil 4 Remake" video!
So no looking at the Sprawl after you get to the Ishimura you can tell it's a 2D picture even in game and boy does it look bad but it would of been nice to see up-close.
Slippy’s the man!!
2:50 Next level Harry Potter elevators!!! XD
Also, what about Hoghwars Legacy? Does that make sense to explore? I haven't personally played it so idk.
And, most obviously, yes, we would like to see Dead Space 3 next! 😅
I think that was an explosive canister in that gunship that you do shoot during the fight with it..
finally updated after a year later!you made videos so so good!👍👍👍👍
Good video slippy.
Welcome back good sir!!
I like you Slippy Slides.
He's alive!
I'm interested to see Ori And The Will Of Wisps under the hood & Best of luck ❤
It’s like my dads finally back from the store!
Finally , welcome back :)
6:00 yo dude its metroid's arm cannon! (Before anyone says anything, it was a joke lol)
Awesome video! I’ve watched this on mobile and everything looked so small. I’ve missed tons of details. Have to watch it again on PC 😂
Love this kind of videos. Amazing work!
I really hope EA doesn't remake Dead Space 2. That game is perfect the way it is.
I would love to see the break in scene with all the necromorphs in the government sector
What about out of bounds DS3? Especially when your on the planet, you go down the elevator and soon come across a bared down door with the word Quarantined on it plus you either sound bit or necromorph creature pounding at the door attempting to escape.
Actually it's not surprising at all that the vintage suit has Clarke's head visible as it uses an entirely unique model for the head that ONLY the Vintage Suit has
HE'S BACK!!! HE'S BACK WTF NO WAY
Came across you’re Chanel nice context would you kindly do a bioshock one 😁
Oh this should be good.
Long time no see🥰🥰🥰 I missed your videos.
I always thought the ending scene with Issac flying around the marker was faked in a way somehow, but no it's almost full size real!
Nice Video keep going. Thx for covering my curiosity
So I recently was curious about something but can't find any videos on it. Not sure if you've done one already, but this channel came to mind when thinking of it. What do the gta story mode characters do off screen? I.E. Like what are michael and Franklin doing if I'm tervor, etc?
Upsets me when God of War gets so much praise for the seamless transitions when Dead Space 2 did it first.
Thanks for the reply on your instagram btw bro. I miss your videos so much take care always god bless!!! ☺
