    Which do you think Elden Ring is? Give your own dumb reason.

      If memory serves, dark souls one was heavily inspired by the og Zelda game. I think that's why we have hidden walls and strange keys to use and etc.

      I am not exactly correct. It was just some stuff that was theorized.
      “When I was a student, The Legend of Zelda was truly monumental, so to be perfectly honest, I feel deeply unworthy of the comparison. The Legend of Zelda and Dark Souls are different games belonging to different genres though, and they’re guided by different concepts of game design. They don’t need to aspire to the same ideals. If there are similarities, they probably stem from the fact that The Legend of Zelda became a sort of textbook for 3D action games.”
      But it serves to reason that dark souls and Zelda are so influential at this point, that it isn't exactly possible for either game to free of influence of the other.

      Elden Ring is the Elden Ring of Breath of the Wild and Dark souls. I will not elaborate.

    This is truly one of the questions about two of the games of all time.

    I just found out your channel and just wanted to say: keep up with the great work. Your videos are very well structured and I really like your insights. You won a new subscriber. As for Elden Ring, I'd define it as a "Dark" and "Wild". It's the "Breath of the Souls".

      Thank you, that makes me happy. It would definitely help to share my vids, regardless I'm still gonna keep on making more.

    Elden Ring is BotW of Dark Souls. It is mostly Dark Souls with open world inspired by BotW.
    There is nothing wrong copying good concept from other games to make yours even better. Just adjust it and make it suitable for your game.
    Gaming is so far away from perfection. We are still miles away from games having destructible environment, environment changing past time, perfect environment transition between seasons, fully realized NPC and so on. Developers shouldn't be shy away from improving their games by taking inspiration from each other.
    Sometime you don't have to be an inventor, just be the one to improve the readymade items. Elden Ring itself is a product of Demon Souls + Dark Souls 1,2,3, Bloodborne and Sekiro plus BotW.

    • @dankym
      @dankym  Рік тому

      Absolutely, there’s nothing wrong with copying or adapting ideas. I don’t hate Sonic or Pokemon for being inspired, I love that they’re experimenting. I just don’t like the reception saying they’re just like BOTW. I would love to see more games as open as BOTW, but Elden Ring is the only popular one comparable.
      Heck even though I made fun of the combat in FF7R, I still love it. I love it for a different reason compared to Dark Souls and that’s fine. I wanna see more games that have a good mix of real-time and turn-based combat, just straight up copy the combat system.

    Bro you are the first person to have the exact same Dark Souls experience as me. I fell in love with Hollow Knight and then played Jedi, thought it was great and wanted to try the source. The only difference is I played Bloodborne first, but I also played Dark Souls 1 on switch the first time and experienced the joycon frustration all the same (Playstation with Bloodborne had its own issue with the controller dying and the game not pausing but thats a whole other issue) but man I IRL fornite emoted when you were describing your dark souls experience because it was so similair to mine that I was just like "boy no fucking way doodoodoooooo we are the same person doodooodooodoo we had the same experience dadoodadoddoodaaa!"

    • @dankym
      @dankym  Рік тому

      Lol, that’s crazy to hear. Yea, I didn’t have a Playstation at the time. I actually played Bloodborne this year right before Elden Ring. Was kinda holding out for a remaster or something of the like but it was great regardless.

    I don't really care for breath of the wild and it mainly boils down to the weapon breaking. I'm the hoarder type player with consumables and having every weapon breakable completely ruined exploration. I didn't want to explore, I didn't want to fight. The panic of keeping my items outweighed my curiosity and it just ruined the whole experience. I can respect the game but it's not for me. I think even the simple change of allowing them to be repaired would fix my issue, but as it stands, I cannot play the game and be happy.

    • @dankym
      @dankym  Рік тому +1

      I understand the frustration. You can’t really hoard because there’s limited inventory. There’s limited inventory because of koroks. Then there’s Koroks to make the world more engaging. You’ll always find a better weapon and weapons you might like such as an ice spear will spawn consistently in certain locations.
      But that doesn’t excuse the game from not having a blacksmith or a system that allows for weapons to be repaired and upgraded. I hope the next game will have that system. Heck, even the spin-off action game has it and it’s great.

      @@dankym I can respect 90% of the rest of the game but the one mechanic is just the ultimate deterrent for me. I hope the sequel will change it but if it doesn't then I can accept that

    Don't play breath of the wild for the very first time after playing elden ring because breath of the wild is so boring with nothing to do but the dumbest crap and there's no use to exploring because everything you get breaks instantly

      I wouldn't antagonize them too much. It does help to describe things in ways people are used to. They also got hundreds of articles to write and quotas to meet, so they can't always be original. But some definitely lean into tired ideas way too much.

    Dark souls is so easy I always go through it without hardly ever dying and get way over leveled and it gets even more easy it's seriously the easiest of all from soft games
