I am glad you found it helpful. You will have a great time on the Escarpment, one of the best hikes in the Catskills and just a great backpacking trail all around!

Hello Denniston - On may 26th 1983 John T Grace flew out of Poughkeepsie at 9:12am piloting a flight to Watertown, New York. He flew this Piper PA-28 into foul weather and crashed at Stoppel Point around 9:40am that morning. Researched this on You Tube and thought you may be interested. Thank you for being a great guide.

Very cool you were able to track down the history of that flight! I need to visit some more crash sites for sure!

Christian, thank you for the video. Question please: do you believe a fit, active dog could manage the trail (meaning it's not too rocky/scrambly)? Thanks!

Yes I believe a dog could manage this trail alright. There will be a couple tricky spots but I have seen dogs tackle much more technical terrain. As long as the dog is fit and healthy as your say!

Hey does anyone know if I'd be able to Uber from point to point? I plan on driving to the end, parking and Ubering to the trail head.

Get a shuttle from Smilys taxi service.
