This series is going to be brilliant. I have flown an Extra 200 and a 300LX. The LX was outstanding!!! My wife had her first light aircraft flight in the LX. She was buzzing for a week. Can’t wait to see how your aerobatics go.
I am very happy to see Walter in good health. I often met him in the parking lot in the early 90s. He was waiting for his customers and I wanted to go to my glider. A friendly chat between pilots was always the order of the day.
Love it! Very cool to get a look into the factory! I have #75NG that is currently in the assembly room! It will be my third Extra, I was the second owner of Patty’s 230, 444PW, and then I owned a 300L around the turn of the century. Can’t wait for my new one! Thank you for posting!
Fantastic factory. Glad to also see several of the magnificent EXTRA 400’s. These are Walter Extra’s executive aircraft. I owned serial 25 in the USA for 15 years and enjoyed all of 1000 hours of light. No longer in production. Walter is a genius and fabulous person. Thanks for this great video. Ed Sweeney
This is an incredible video. Walter is the GOAT! Seeing him healthy is awesome! I hope he has many more years to enjoy what he created. They don't make many men like him anymore. They were very tough men who never took no for an answer. A very rare breed.

Thank you Micke for this video. Grat family company honoring German precision heritage. No wonder Germany is such a powerful nation. 3 of my grandparents came from there in mid-20´s last century to my country. See you in the following video (hopefully soon). Grüss Gott mein freund from NE Patagonia, Argentina.
I thought it was a radio controlled Graupner plane 😜 congratulations for the visit and the video. Very interesting. They are incredible planes. Greetings from Tenerife!!
@@MickeLang das wird meine dritte sein! Ich war letzten Dezember in Dinslaken, um die NG zu bestellen. Tolles Flugzeug, tolle Firma ! Mein Bruder hat auch eine 2022 NG.. Wir sind total in der Maschinen verknallt !👍
I am really impressed with the various ways that German Industries are often owned and operated by muti-generational family members. Thereby having the abilities to pass on their knowledge base in allowing a business to prosper. The concept of Made in Germany is still to be regarded with a sense of appreciation of high quality standards. Also appreciated is that the dialogue is spoken in English. Although I think there may be some people, besides myself, who are always learning about the German Language or for that matter any other language, if there were subtitles in German for the dialogue. One does not often learn the technical terms of another language in the ordinary course of learning another language. Although for the German Language, there is the Duden Volume 5 Picture Dictionary book to learn about objects. I am looking forward to the next installment of the YT series.
Amazing video. This airplane has always been in my bucket list and now after seeing the factory even more now! Hope to buy one in the not too distant future.
Hey Micke, this is a great video! Looking forward to the next parts. What engines are used in the Extra planes? Do Extra planes use Jet-A fuel or AVGAS? I miss your ferrying videos. When is the next one coming out?
That’s a very good question but I think this will be difficult because it has to do with the resin and the UV radiation. I would have to dig deeper in this topic to give a correct answer here!
@MickeLang unless they have fully moved the production to DE, some of the parts have been produced in Poland. I have seen photos and they were also mentioned in reports.
AWESOME video, thank you Micke !
My pleasure Luke!🤘🏼
So cool to see him be proud of their products, and smiling when saying "that's they way it should be done".
Not only him, it’s the whole family and company, you will see that especially in part 2😊

I have always loved the Extra but had no idea about the manufacturing. Really interesting. Thanks Micke!
Happy that you liked it! Make sure to watch part 2 which just came out!🙏🏼😬
As an aspiring aeronautical engineer this video is so insightful! Cool to see the inside of the factory. Sehr interessant!
That‘s what I want to achieve with this💪🏼 Thanks for watching!

I’ve got #79 on order. Not chosen my colours yet. 🤔
Love it. Composites absolutely blow my mind. The fact that you can take a bunch of strings and make landing gear out of it is crazy
Yeah right? the fact that it is kind of fabric is insane!
I’m ready for the next thumbs up 👍. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for coming back again Clarence🙏🏼
Großartig, ganz tolle Idee mit der Serie!
Freut mich, danke!😊

Correct😉
You said used to work for a aircraft manufacture. Does that mean you've upgraded from the DA-62?
🙃
Micke you mentioned you worked for a aircraft builder I like to ask how does one get in to aircraft building jobs
I did not work on the production line☝🏼
Could a plane be made with a full carbon look on the outside, unpainted?
That’s a very good question but I think this will be difficult because it has to do with the resin and the UV radiation. I would have to dig deeper in this topic to give a correct answer here!
The BRABUS of the skies. Both companies are only separated by a 12 kilometer drive. Same carbon fibre professionalism... Same dialect talking German.
Yes the quality is insane!
Too bad that they are not mentioning that a lot of their composite parts are made in Poland.
Who says that?
@MickeLang unless they have fully moved the production to DE, some of the parts have been produced in Poland. I have seen photos and they were also mentioned in reports.
