Stopped at mankinholes YHA as a sixteen year old on a collage trip and walked up to stoodly pike and stood on its balcony having no idea what the future would bring and years later stood on that same balcony with my sixteen year old daughter having walked up from Hebden bridge , we also walked from mankinholes to Haworth on that trip and i was hooked on hill walking and wild camping from that moment , all thanks to a tutor named Shaun Theabold of Barnsley tech college who decided a group of council estate teenagers with no outdoors experience could get out on the hills when suitably led by an experienced hill walker and it was the gift that has lasted a lifetime and taken me to so many sumits and provided so many memories.
Hi Liam, me and my missus are working our way through watching all your videos! We love how down to earth and real you are with your content! Really enjoyable to watch and some laughs along the way! Also giving us ideas of new places to visit for long walks/ hikes. Keep up the good work! You’re our favourite wild camping UA-camr! 👍🏻👌
@GoodBlokeOutdoors I grew up in Calderdale and was thinking of walking this in the summer. Fun fact(s): my uncle devised the route and created the CW clover logo. It’s intentionally different to other official long-distance trails in that it’s designed to also take you through the area’s industrial heritage (hence the town sections) as opposed to the usual tour of the wildest / prettiest parts.
Very enjoyable video Liam. Your high spirits and sense of humour make it a pleasure to watch. It is a pity there aren't more UA-cam videos on the Calderdale Way, as I think it is a splendid walk and I have done it many times.
The commitment to setting up the camera, then going back to retrace your steps, then returning for the camera again is unreal. You must cover almost twice the distance you need to all in the name of content. 👍
Enjoyed the video. Not the most scenic but West Yorks has a character of its own. Blisters are a bugger, best plan is, know where they’re likely to be and put plasters on from the walk start.
hah weird seeing someone wander through my neck of the woods. norland moor is always busy used to ride my bike over it a lot, v popular with dog walkers
That's right on my bloody doorstep but never occurred to me to wild camp it. Nicely done lad.. BTW I'm just down the road from you about 2 miles away on the edge of Judy Woods (Halifax Road side)
I always look forward to your new video's. Honest personality, keeping it real and dry humour has me bad laughing....your like an Adrian Edmondson of the hiking world😂. Nice one Liam, thanks for the entertainment 👍
An other belter mate. I was walking round todmorden way the other week. Mankinholes, gaddings dam and stoodley pike. Loved the little why you coming fast man's appearance 😂 Loving watching somebody enjoying his hikes and camps. Keep up the good work pal 👌🏻
I’d never been to any of them areas before mate but enjoyed it. I might go visit Stoodley Pike properly at some point. Glad you enjoyed the vid mate and thanks for watching !
A up Liam, hope your well pal. Just to let you know your videos are getting through some depressing personal times atm, when I though I couldn't carry on, your an inspiration lad let me tell ya. Keep up the good work buddy. Look forward to your uploads. Stay safe mate. Peace out. Rob x
Now then mate i’m really well thank you. Oh man i’m sorry to hear you are going through a bad time atm, but i’m glad you are getting something out of the vids and they are inspiring for you to watch 👍🏼 i’ll keep bashing the vids out buddy. Take it easy pal. X

Brilliant mate. Remember stopping at Mankyholes when i was a nipper wi school. Loved it. Was up around Cragg Vale and Stoodley Pike in lock down, beautiful round there. How come ya didnt go on the CW through Shelf Park to Norwood Green??
Hi mate, I downloaded a online map and just followed that from Stone Chair roundabout so not sure what happened with going through Shelf Park.. thanks for watching 👍🏼
Inspiring lad. I live a stone's throw from Elland so I think I might be buying that guide book me Sen n gettin off on an adventure! Much love n that ✌🏻
Great video Liam, gave me a few laughs 😂. Multi day hikes are better both to do and watch than so called wild camps half a mile from they're car. Well done mate, a great achievement 👌 TFS, cheers Alistair 👍
Absolute banger mate, first watched you a while back now and your recent vids have improved leaps abd bounds,i really look forward to your next vids now, thanks for sharing man, peace out!
Glad people are noticing the improvements! I didn’t realise how much they are looking better until I go back to my first vids, slowly getting there mate! Thanks for watching
I believe the Bird was a starling, they can mimic sounds they hear so maybe it has nested near a police station or similar, but they have similar robotic calls.
I think they are lapwings. We get them in Hale, Halton down by the lighthouse if you ever want a good look at them. Interesting about the starlings, though.
Good video mate, great content and editing on point as usual. That route itself just looks a bit grim to me, i think you would be all over some of the lake district or welsh multi day stuff.
Thanks mate, the route itself was enjoyable but don’t get me wrong it has nothing on the Lake District when it comes to views and such. I’m gonna deffo plan a long distance hike in the Lake District soon. 👍🏼
Thanks buddy glad you enjoyed it, and aye certainly earnt that takeaway after putting in those miles! A dehydrated meal was not gonna cut it 😅 I’ve since been back out in the Soulo and it was good to be back but wouldn’t of fancied carrying close to 3kg on that hike 😅
They used to call them peewits due to the sound they make. They return to the moors in spring to nest after wintering on the coast. Another classic moorland bird that arrives same time is the curlew, you often see them both together ❤
Deffo lapwings them, we have loads on farm they dive bomb my dog to protect their nest cos they nest in the fields, which is bit stupid but yer aggressive buggers
This one is the best vid' so far mate - keep bashing them out - its a pity that this genre of video isnt so popular in comparison with other genre types - wish you could get 100k subscribers mate :)

Aye mate
If those birds fly up then tumble down they're Lapwings with that call. Were they black and white?
Yeah, just googled Lapwings that was them. Sound almost electronic lol.
And if they fly up and come down vertically with their back sides on fire trailing smoke they're grouse lol
