did you just say handhelds designs are a new thing to sony???
🤦♂️ with that grey in his beard he should know better.
Ya I was like wtf psp and psp vita???
Tbf he did say 'of this design', I assume he means in terms of it having a screen in the middle and half a controller on either sid... yeah there's just no defending it 😂

With good connection i can play any game from my ps4 or ps5 library of games. I have used it more than I expected.
I have had mine about 6 months and I love it. I bought simply to play my livingroom ps5 in bed at night and for that purpose it's perfect. I get people that take it out of the house having issues but that doesn't interest me.
Why would I trust someone's opinion as honest when the thumbnail contains obviously fake gameplay?
It's really a case-by-case issue. Ive had a great time with my portal. Im lucky to have really good internet, and when ive taken it to my friends home, they have great internet and it works as in intended. 1080p 60fps everytime.
It is a shame that it a streaming machine, but it works for me so much. The portal really got me back into gaming again.
Can you use 2.4 GHz wifi or it needs to be 5 GHz
You don't really need much speed network speed to stream games, the problem comes with other factors of the connection, the broadband you are using, the quality of the router... doesn't matter how much speed you throw at it, it needs to be consistent.
Most people don't realize that you can't connect to a 2.4ghz wifi channel. The connection needs to be through 5ghz. It doesn't matter how fast your connection is, you will lag if you connect to 2.4ghz.
That's crazy
Not crazy at all. 5ghz band is cheap and old @@bigpapa870
@@bigpapa870 Whats crazy? Do you even understand what 2.4ghz wifi is? Its not a Sony thing.
2.4ghz wifi is extremely slow, laggy and prone to interferences.
You will only ever get good performance by ensuring you only connect to a 5ghz frequency
@SteveDavies80
I wouldn't say that 2.4ghz is slow and laggy. Maybe just for ur situation. I know tons of people that still prefer 2.4ghz , just because of the better penetrating coverage.
@@supermale nah, Im a broadband technician visit about 5 customers each day with wifi issues. 2.4ghz is an unmanaged frequency that is not regulated. Anyone can make a product that uses that frequency which will interfere with WiFi.
Baby monitors, doorbells, kids toys etc, and those interference can come from over 100 meters, so any of your neighbours.
Yes it goes further than 5ghz, but the vast majority of people get more stable connection with 1 bar signal on 5ghz signal, compared to 4 bars on a 2.4ghz.
And even in the same room as hub, most homes will not get more than 50mbps via a 2.4ghz connection.
Obviously, some people will be an exception, if they happen to be in a home with minimal interference, thin walls and less wifi obstacles.
I personally use the ps remote app and use the PlayStation gaming pad that I picked up for about $70. Yeah, the controller isn’t as good as a dual sense on the portal, by my phone’s display is much better than the portal’s. And I can stream my ps 5 with little to no issues on my phone’s 5G cell service.
Do you use the back bone adapter in order to play on your phone ?
@@GhostDaLoccc Yes, I use it when playing ps remote play and Call of Duty on my phone.
you can connect your ps5 controller right to your phone
Ever tried the Wii U?
No but I did try the PlayStation U
May I ask what glasses you wear? Its looks really cool
If it works like psp it will be most cool looking handheld device as the design and grabbing it will be easy
When you are on local network, streaming doesn’t use your upload speed. It uses the local network. So your console speaks to the modem and the modem speaks to the ps portal.
You probably will get better results if the ps5 is at least hard wired to the Ethernet for no dropped packets.
Either way it can be unstable even when it’s like that from my experience.
Even PSVita their last handheld had the capability to connect with a mobile carrier.
My Ps5 is upstairs not connected via ether net, and I haven't had a single problem with connection with the portal. WiFi hub is just the one provided by Virgin 🤔
The problem is this device was designed to be use on actual internet setup and not for coffee shops type of internet since they arent safe or protected
My biggest gripe with the PlayStation Portal is the smaller thumb sticks. They are only a little smaller but its a difference enough that i notice i have to play a little different
The ONLY reason they did that is to sel more stick grips. Money hungry Sony back at it again
@@dss-ri5zy cope lol
Got one last week. My wifi isn’t the greatest but i have had a decent experience. But it’s definitely has its good days and bad days. I rely on wifi too. My usage will be primarily at home but the allure playing elsewhere is too great. I want to try it from work. I have two days before taking it back.
Does it require cd game to play? Or must have ps5 at home only then can play ps portal? I dont have ps 4 or 5 but this thing is so cool. Is like bring out your tv to outdoor
You need a ps5 for it
@@shrek5699 ohh..i see..then i have to get ps5 first😄
@@jombeskal4868 yea and you also need good wifi conection etc etc
Can you play on the go with your PlayStation at home?
As long as you have a good Internet connection to the PlayStation portal
i would not count on it sometimes its refuse to send a wake up signal to your ps5 after like 8 hours orso
@imperialdra-mon5907 Well I don't understand why that's happening to you. I've taken my portal everywhere, as I have superfast. Ultra capacity.
5G internet from T-Mobile unlimited and use my portal in different places, as well as a family members house with there Wi-Fi. And it has performed flawlessly. Yes, it takes a little longer to connect and wake up my p. S5, then me being at home, but it really Doesn't have any hiccups when connecting? And it Always connects without giving me a failure to connect on the Screen. My PlayStation portal has worked perfectly every time sense. I purchased it
getting mine soon :) love your attitude and accent :D good video bro
The portal is for a specific kind of person. I love it. I’m connected Ethernet with Wi-Fi 6e mesh routers and rarely have issues. Fighting Adam Smasher on cyberpunk is the only time it started acting up and who knows if it was just the game glitching lol. In my opinion it’s best for grinding type games where you can just relax and level up.
Wow this sounds great not gonna lie 😅
God of war is a game that cause my ps5 to randomly shut off along with NBA 2k24. Do you still experience this with the PlayStation portal if so what is your solution?
That's not normal
As a parent of two toddlers. I can’t play video games on my big tv anymore. That’s why I love my PS portal 🎉
That's the main reason I bought it 😂
Pfft t you just can buy steam deck , or any pc handheld , it's much better than this ps Portal
very convenient!
@@apittora1016 stay butthurt Nintendo switch fanboy crying over a ps portal hahaha
Lol the struggle is real
You need wifi 6 for low latency
Would u say that it would be good to use if I was on holiday far away from my ps5 ?
No
You cant use this far away from your PS5. The PS Portal is just a screen streaming device, if that makes sense to you? you need your PS5 to be on as your are accessing your PS5s content Via your PS Portal screen to play your games. For example if your PS5 is off, the PS Portal is useless. The wifi connection is only so many meters long before you get to far and the signal cuts off.
Say you went on holiday somewhere, you need to bring your PS5, have it switched on and connected to the internet to use your PS Portal.
@@thepillowman2293 too late I already bought it😭😭
@@beaksaver5361you can use it anywhere in the world as long as your ps5 is connected to internet

I bought a sony portal for travel and I was disappointed it’s a horrible laggy experience. I now use a M3 MacBook Pro paired with a PS5 controller and run Xbox game pass cloud which runs flawlessly when traveling.
Cool, how do you play (xbox) games on the MacBook?
@@g.o.9513Xbox game pass
"Get a new router" no, just get a mesh thing like TP Link offers and have them plugged in. I stream games from my main PC to my Macbook or phone and it extremely usable. Looks and feels great. Your router sits where the cables enter your home, build your network around that to ensure really good connectivity. It's not that expensive these days, and if your ISP provided modem/router supports 1 Gbps/1 gigabit ports, you don't need to buy a more expensive router but some less expensive mesh hardware.
My internet speed is 80 to 100 mbps, and i want to play in my house from ground floor ,my ps5 and router on 1st floor..should i buy it ?(From india)plz reply
YES

Yes
I use it on the bed at home connected to a hardwired mesh router. Flawless connection and speed.
Outside, it’s tethered to my phone data service. Not as good as a home set up, but enough to play action games like stellar blade. So IMO, it delivers on its intended use, and then some.
What mesh router do you recommend?
1:24 that's what she said 🎉
You say you use it for 3 hours every day huh. To me it means you like it. You remind me of a kid that wants to be the only one that has one. I'd recommend it. If you have a really good big phone like the s24 or 15 pro max the backbone is a better all in one because it does steam streaming ps streaming and xbox streaming and way more I'm sure. Pick what you want and have fun.
This guy thinks internet bandwith is the only variable.. It doesn’t matter if you have a 1 Gbit/s connection if your latency is relative high.
Did the thumbnail just show Gta 6?!
why cant we have the psp back this is dumb i dont want a ps5 i have a pc but i want to have a portable console
I'm having fun with it .
So short answer: don't just use your phone and get a grip for it it's a lot cheaper
He’s just rabbling on guys!
😂
I love this device
it will look ugly and have a cable. seriously the whole wireless thing is such a pain in the rear, cable headphones were only taken out of smart phones what 5 years ago. i don't care if it doesn't look aesthetically pleasing, i would use them, but do you wanna know whats a real kicker, i own a sony srs xb-41 bluetooth speaker, and even that is not allowed on the portal or the ps5. it's absolute bs, i paid more for my speaker then i would for a pair of pulse 3d headphones.
i bought one, and i was rocking playing fallout 4, literally 10 feet from my ps5. comfortably on my couch, and it was stable, then next thing you know, it would keep disconnecting. that is stupid. i was like why am i doing this, i could sit in my recliner 3 feet away and play on my 85 inch tv, so i packed it back up and took it back to walmart.
We all knew NOT to buy one sine the announcement...😂

@juanalvarado7794 and you are poor to see why sony made a playstation portal instead of ps vita 2 because the vita failed. More of a skill issue on your part if you can't afford it kid haha
Bro why have one and it good huh
Idk men i use this a lot i really enjoy this idk why people cry so much
In other terms it’s useless I just bought rig ally I already have ps5 I just needed pc games to get the full experience
"PS5 connected via wifi" that right there likely explains your stability issues. Two Wifi hops for game streaming just doubles your chances of the odd wifi hickup / interference which could come from anywhere. Heck a city bus passing by could make you drop. As for competitive shooters, I perform better in matches in XDefiant while using Portal. It's very doable.
Bought it for call of duty online, 2nd day I returned it😂
I honestly just want this to play Fortnite but now after watching this I’m hesitant I have good internet but just saw it has a delay as you said for multiplayer games might just get a switch or something or that sort of thing
Switch for Fortnite? lol that’s a terrible idea in 2024…
