Great interview, Madison. I didn’t realise Resene was a New Zealand company. I thought it originated in Australia. Resene has excellent products. I wish Resene would overhaul its branding and marketing to appeal more to the DIY/retail clientele and clearly articulate that it is a New Zealand-based business. It seems like Dulux has a tight grip on that market, with their easy-to-read aesthetics/marketing and the iconic paint names that make them feel like a New Zealand business. I always enjoy going to my local Resene store for help and advice from friendly faces! Maybe we see Renee Retail getting into soft finishings like the other players are…
I had no idea Resene was a 100% Privately owned, family Kiwi company…😊 Well done Resene sticking to your guns and continuing to manufacture here in NZ 👍🏼 Also, Resene - IS - the best paint in the long run, too. Been caught out going for cheaper paints and I suspect many are Chinese or something, and they do not handle NZ conditions well. Have never had dramas with Resene. Thank you for this enlightening interview, Madison. 👍🏼
First year university commerce student here, Madison. I once watched one of your videos in high school, and I was so confused. Now, I love watching your work because it lets me use a bunch of the concepts I've learned throughout my courses. Thank you so much for what you do, and please keep it up!
Have mostly bought paint only from resene over last 30 summers... great to hear back story thank you. Water based enamel, lustacryl etc was eagerly anticipated innivation in the early 2000s then others have copied
Great kiwi company and family legacy that I enjoyed working with during their transformative years. Tony and Tech Director, Colin Gooch, really took on the major international players, Dulux and Taubmans, and won the respect and business of kiwis. Thanks for the video.
I was surprised to see people in this video not wearing rspirators, I worked at their other factory and going inside without your respirator was an absolute no-no. We were issued new filters for our 3M half face respirators once a fortnight. You can't smell anything through them but they're hot and uncomfortable.
Interestingly the IMF is concerned about supply chain issues too, so once the big money starts to recognise problems they will pull the politicians into line to get it sorted, but it just takes time, hopefully Resene will be able to get thru that lag OK.
"We're a kiwi company" Lol, I worked in one of their factories (not head office) last year, I was one of about 3 people on site that could speak English.
@@Towelie- Benign comment Edit: Alright, now that we've got past the comment boss I'll repost what I tried to say earlier. Ok, I see my last comment was deleted, I'll reiterate it's sentiment. If you move to Japan and don't speak Japanese, are you Japanese?
It was noted that the price of Resene would be the same in Mitre 10 as in a Resene own store. Isn’t that price fixing? No wonder building products are expensive in NZ.
Makes me want to support them even more knowing they're based in Wellington and remain committed to it too. I'm Hutt born too. :)
Your best one yet. Definitely want to support Resene in the future.

top interview. Full respect for Resene to stay in Wellington to support 1000 families.
It feels good to see these sorts of videos. At least someone is doing this.

A quality product. If it fails we will get what we deserve.
Onto something here Madison, showcasing Kiwi business in these times. Loved this story and surprised to learn Resene is a NZ owned company.
Good one - nice story about a NZ company that looks well run and managed. No out of touch directors on their Board I am sure!
Great interview.
As someone who works in construction, I never knew the background story of Resene so this was fascinating . 👍
We have owned many rental properties over 4 decades...have always bought Resene paints..
Nice NZ company story, Madison. Keep them coming
What an honest business
One of your best videos Madison.
Great Video and resene, thanks for sharing
Fantastic interview 🎉
thank you sis ..for video..great❤
Imagine working there huffing paint all day. When I'm having a bad day at work this really puts things into perspective.

Great kiwi company and journalism. Thanks Madison 👍

Paints great, but they had employees that would do specs for quotes, and would both push and let other companies they had vested interest with know.
"We're a kiwi company"

I’m sure your colleagues have their kids at local schools, buy groceries from nearby local owners and contribute to our economy like the rest of us!
@@Lilelfshelffer If you move to Japan and your kids go to a local Japanese school, are you now Japanese?
Is English knowledge a prerequisite to be a kiwi? Last time I checked NZ had 3 official languages.
@@Towelie- Ok, I see my last comment was deleted, I'll reiterate it's sentiment.

Stop these periodic sales - i paint when the weather is good not when you have a sale ( which is actually the normal price of other brands if paint )
I can't force another to sell things anymore because it was wrong to force them to sell me things

I,ve used it heaps, but unfortunately it is not as good as its cracked up tp be
My experience as well. Must be they they hired some of Toyota marketing to BS us
i dear could you make paint out of milk or casseen, to the boss of Resene
Lower your prices you might sell more paint!!
If they lower their prices then maybe they would sell more paint ! ? Uncompetitive. It’s paint not gold .
