I am the "Old 83 Year Old Woman" in the video, and I am very fortunate enough to be healthy to be able to do this weight lifting including the squats! I am in the 1% category of people born between 1930-1945 who are alive today, all other are deceased. In particular, when you see people my age are giving up waiting to die! I look forward to twice a week working with the owner, Andrew Lewis. I so enjoy the workouts and the improvement in my bone density and overall strength. Andrew is very knowledgeable and provides individual attention. The new Starting Strength facility is well lit and clean.

That couch looks comfortable...the SS community has a shared goal, that shared goal is "strength training" vs mediocrity from the fitness industry.

As a SSC, I only work with clients who have a big belly, and a big butt. If they have a double chin on top of that, I give a them a 50% lifetime discount on consultation fees. However, if they lose weight, I double their subscription fee. If their BMI drops below 42, I fire them. This ensures that I only work with clients that I like because they're all as fat as I am.

99 % plus people don't want to do deadlifts or lift heavy weight.
Instead of lunges, squats and deadlifts most women would prefer to do a set of easy higher rep hip thrusts or something.
Most people just want to workout and look and feel better about themselves.
Instead of this backwards approach, why not base your training on your clients GOALS.
If my client wants to increase strength and power in core movements, then fine.
I do teach core movement patterns to all. But then tell people to modify based on your goals.
Not everyone wants to get seriously fatigued 3-6 times per week. I lighter easier workout done consistently produces great body composition goals.
The number one factor to gains is consistency.

They’re so lucky to get your advice. They are so obviously struggling to find people who want to deadlift.

@@sb-hb6if I agree. They only have one approach, everyone in the works needs to do core movements increasing weight.
Instead if this backwards approach to training you work with thd client to understand their goals. If they just want to look and feel great, hip thrusts, biking, walking, etc is all that is needed for lower body.
What they need to understand is the question is not what produces the best strength gains, you have to take into account fatigue tolerance, avoiding injury, goals. ..
For 99% people, who is doing dead lifts?
Do you open a gym for the 99% or the less than 1% who want to increaeeax strength in core movements.
      Their approach is so outdated

"work with thd client to understand their goals."
You're never going to master being a coach of every random goal that idiots come up with. It's better to have a method that you can competently coach, based on goals that aren't stupid.
      "Their approach is so outdated"
Name one gym franchise that has ever done this approach. WTF are you even talking about?

@@SportyNico11 dude. They posted a video of old lady doing squats. They are desperate to find people who don't know enough and buy into their one size fits all approach.
      What a joke.
