Awesome review! After COVID, my apartment gym closed and I couldn't find weights anywhere. Found these at Walmart and grabbed two along with a bench. Glad to know it's a worthwhile product!

Yeah but how often are you going to use the weights at the 5-10 lb level? If it's for the majority of your workout this dumbbell probably isn't the one for you LOL. It would be like using a Limo to order through a McDonalds drive-thru.
@@miketebo4826 And mine broke. IF you use them a lot you will find that the plastic disk that seperate the weights breaks. Bow flex does not make the replacement disks anymore so they want you to buy a new one. IF you research this online you will get a flood of the same issue.

Bowflex still the best. Been using this dumbbells for 10 yrs..no hassles except for the scratches on plqstic weights. Bought nuo flexbells used them 3 months the handles got stuck at 32kgs ..cannot use it anymore.
My home gym is extensive. But getting older, workin construction, don't need all my plates anymore because I don't train with all that gear anymore. I've always preferred iron and adjustables. Can make 110lbs dumbbells easy. But I ain't ever gonna be slammin those around anymore. My buddy's brother had the bowflex dumbbells for sell cheap and I absolutely love them. With my set of kettlebells 18-88lbs and these I really never need anything else other than running shoes. The quality of construction is so damn nice. And the max weight is plenty for my curls lol I already climb scaffold with 20lbs of tools at 210lbs bodyweight, arms don't need more meat haha

Bought these as a space-saving device. The ease and convenience of having a rack of weights in 10% of the space cannot be overstated. An entire rack that would hold 15 sets of dumbbells costs $1000 (conservatively) so if you look at the cost of these and think they're too expensive you need to look at what they replace.

I just got mine and the only thing I can argue with is that they are a bit slippery in my hands I wish that the black grip was the hole grip that you use to hold on too it

Everything was secure and in good shape. No weird smells. The weight changing mechanism is really smooth and straight forward. Changing weight is really fast and easy. Though the handle is plastic, I don't think it will be breaking anytime soon. So far pretty impressed after my first session with them. I was afraid they were going to be too wide at first, but I didn't have any issues with them while doing upright rows.

Is it possible to use lifting straps with the Bowflex dumbbells ? The main issue I think would be that when you need to tightly grip the straps, you rotate the dumbbell, but the Bowflex has uneven weight distribution and always must be held with the red handle at the top. Has anyone tried lifting straps ?
Was thinking the same for lighter weights ...but the thing is the lighter weights are the easier ones to accumute and easier on the wallet lol.... I'll probably be ordering my set 👍 thanks for the review
they seem a bit awkward for when your about to do a dumbbell chest press and you place the weight on your legs before starting. can you shed some light on this if that is the case
I can tell you from personal experience that it takes a few attempts to get the counter weights right. They're designed to keep the flat side down. That being said, if the grip is right and you bring them up smoothly it becomes easy. Like anything else it just takes practice.
@@miketebo4826 I've had mine for a long time too. It's the Series 1. I'm still using it. One of the discs broke after my son had used it. Took me a long time to get a replacement part. Yours is a Series 2. I don't know what Bowflex had done to improve on it or if there are any issues like the Series 1 had. I think too many people are rough with it, like dropping them when they fail a rep or using them as pushup handles. They have to remember that most of the parts are made of plastic.
got one myself about a week ago. It's a real solid feeling dumbbell. I love being able to confuse the muscle by ratcheting up and down as I progress throughout my workout. Be warned though if you're not used to completely destroying your muscle fibers in this manner it will give you a burn for a straight week the first time you use it. LOL I went from 37.5lbs to 10 and back up several times before my arms started crying in pain! 4 sets of 6 or there abouts LOL and I stock freight for a living. haha
So you say one of the advantages of having an adjustable dumbbell is not having to buy separate dumbbells, but then you say you might want to go ahead and buy a separate 5 and 10 lb dumbbells anyway. LOL :) Just trolling.

Hey every1. Please be safe n careful with these prices of equipment. The weight falls off the ends n can land on your foot/toes etc..or just damage ur floors. Yo for $550 get a gym membership.. This is a huge rip off..
I want to thank you for your input. Currently I agree that during the pandemic the price of these is outrageous. That being said a lot of gyms are still on lockdown and its not looking like that will change any time soon. In the years that I've had mine not a single one of them have fell off. I got some kind of clone tech shark dumbells, a copy of the bowflex, used them about 25 times now, so far so good.
Honestly my biggest problem is the pain the design on the handles puts on your hands while benching

Oh it's very possible!!! If you're using straps then the distribution should already be at the bottom. I've used them for bent over rows a few times

Just be careful. I have the 552 series 1. The discs that hold the weights in place have been known to break. Don't know about the series 2 though.
