- Mark Kermode reviews 20,000 Days on Earth. This film is a bold vision of one of music's most mysterious and charismatic figures, the iconic Nick Cave. In their debut feature directors Iain Forsyth & Jane Pollard fuse drama and documentary by weaving a cinematically staged day in Cave's life with never-before-seen verité observation of his full creative cycle. This category-defying film possesses the same frankness and wry humour that run through all of Cave's work, and pushes the form into new territory, exploring universal themes and celebrating the transformative power of the creative spirit.
Please tell us what you think of the film -- or Mark’s review of the film below. We love to include your views on the show every Friday.

Fridays at 2pm on BBC 5 live.
I queued behind Nick Cave at an airport once... his bag was haulted by the scanner and I just stared at him and his family, having a normal summer holiday mishap... it was profoundly strange
Just watched this in Warsaw, Poland, at a hip little cinema. A grand audience of 6, including us.
Agree with Kermode - although clearly scripted, dear old Nick does reveal a surprising amount of his real self. The bottle of spirits that we smuggled in definitely added something to the deep feeling that this screening generated.
A damn fine film - well recommended!
"He's been on Earth for 20,000 years"?
Saw it, it's probably the finest music film I've ever seen.
I thought for a moment that it was about a day in the life of Nic Cage
what does Mark think of One More Time with Feeling?
DJ man doesn't give a sh*t, leaves the guy talking to himself. Rude.
I'd LOVE to see Nic Cage's version Mark! Good call!
This movie sounds interesting.
RAIDERS58th not really.
Any movie that could possibly make me want to 'Laugh, yawn or scream' is two thirds of a movie that I don't want to watch.
I like Nick Cave but don't you find he's too studied?
Yes and no, his depth makes some of his (literary) work very interesting, but admittedly his music can feel too contrived or overthought. Even so he comes out with some great stuff from time to time and I lament the fact that his sequel script to 'Gladiator' never got made because it sounded fantastic.
Oh Mark, blah, blah, blah! Get to the end, do you like the film? Ooh, then maybe just keep talking so we don't have to listen to old wooden top Mayo🤔
Its one of my favourite documentaries
The film’s well crafted, well directed, well packed, stylish & is A very well paced music documentary about Nick Cave. (85%) (4/5 stars) (positive)
