IIRC, she was an ambulance driver for a bit in WWII, giving her family and guards heart attacks on a regular basis. She was was barely old enough to drive but she was a ballsy teen and didn't care about bombs falling around her. I vaguely remember reading an article about it and she said she felt foolish sitting in the palace and not helping and she knew she could drive an ambulance.
@@ak5659 people went straight into shelters as soon as bombs started falling around them. They weren't careening down the street in ambulances.
@@leonieromanes7265 The royal family was bombed while they were eating dinner (tea?) at the palace. They could have left the country, like most of the royal families from other occupied countries, but Elizabeth's parents chose to stay and keep their children with them.
@@jeannie1renee2 yes that's true. They were brave enough to stay in London through the blitz and threatened invasion. But the royal family weren't reckless enough to take unnecessary risks. They went into shelters when bombs fell, like everyone else.

I love prince Harry and Meghan the most out of all of them. Despite them leaving royal duties. The unwarranted hate and media lies is completely malicious and displays the British people and royal family in a negative way. Prince Harry and Meghan being independent is a true history changer. They are doing what Princess Diana wanted to do for her entire life as a royal. Royalty may not be for everyone but you shouldn't condemn or hate a former royal for choosing a different life. Especially if you're on the outside looking in. Their happiness matters.

It is sooo exhausting being the object of racism in a predominantly white environment. I speak from experience since I was born in Barbados and grew up in England. I was the only black person in my classes through the age of 18. British casual racism is like none other. !!🥹🥹The worst part is/was that if called out, they’d use the gaslight trick and turn it back on you. I can’t imagine being in Meghan’s role and dealing with overt and written, public racism daily. Then expected to smile and look happy 😏😏😏
I guess as an American, I don't understand the hoopla over the royal family, it's not like the medieval times where they rule the country. Now the power resides with the Prime Minister and Parliament.
It is tribalism. People can project their life and needs on to her and come back with the false sense of equivalency and success. Listen to that one guy early in the interview "She's given her life to us really" as if no one else worked their whole life to help build society, or rather as if we all weren't trying for that.
Actually, the queen can veto any law (and may do so in secret) and can dismantle parliament. Just because she has not used those powers, does not mean that someone having them is not disturbing.
The Royal family is like American celebrities only if you mix them with politicians too.
Americans have our own weird obsessions with stuff with stuff. We focus on characters like John Wayne style independence. The Royal family is kind of just the British version of the founding fathers at this point. More people know mythology about the founding fathers than the realities.
Ask a European rather! Its continuity, tradition, history, and a leader who is untainted by politics and act unifying…..- and even love - we love them and are glad for the job they are willing to do and their service to our country! Say what you will about monarchies, but most are very stable democracies/ societies.

It's hard to understand why people are so emotionally connected to them.

It's the same media and magazines that gave a platform to Amber Heard for all her lies, and in the years that Depp tried to clear his name did not help him and perpetuated Heard's lies. It was a few local YT channels that advocated for Depp, and it wasn't until the trial was televised that the established media had to put the light on Heard's lies. And even then you have people who continue to defend Heard.
It's the same with the MM case. In Heard's case she used the Metoo movement, MM is using the BLM/racism movement.

Well, if the queen hadn't interfered, Charles would have married the woman he loved the first time. He and Camilla have a very long history together. He wanted to marry her and the queen wouldn't allow it. And Camilla didn't ruin Diana's life. Charles is the one who continued to see Camilla throughout his marriage to Diana. This what happens when you are forced to marry someone you don't want to marry.
