Nice video! On getting relaxed- I would recommend people play comp to put them in stressful situations so when in trials they have already felt the jitters. One time recently I 1v3’d a team and won. The next two rounds I was still feeling the buzz and was not playing good. Also- controller - i feel like I over move my sticks…and end up missing shots…how do you move the sticks….a video showing the controller inputs would be great

    • @Julian-rt9qs
      @Julian-rt9qs 2 роки тому +6

Definitely. I think this video inadvertently helps highlight why so man players sweating makes it tough for people too. Not to say it's some kind of evil thing that they engage in, but when players KNOW they're coming up against really good players they probably get nervous about getting dominated AND of course having people teabag and/or emote and what not.
Not saying that this happens for majority of people, but probably a good amount of the community. I'm like CoolGuy, I often have to just remind myself to relax and then it becomes a seamless transition into fast, efficient, and deliberate aim and gameplay. You'll get better at it. Guarantee, just always remember it's only a game and you very literally get to come back and try over and over without consequence.

When I was doing medic training in the Navy, something that the instructors would constantly say is "slow is smooth, smooth is fast" and it always stuck with me even in other aspects of life. Playing a lot of different types of FPS, I've noticed the same way you do, when all that kovaaks muscle memory kicks in you start to feel the moment you out maneuver your opponent and you can sense the moment they start to falter. It's like a state of flow

Since I took a break and came back, I haven't been relaxed at all in pvp and it shows. I also went through a phase of playing with music, even trials and it helped a ton. Also if you're playing with rumbles still on, switch them off, it's literally a stress mechanic having rumbles on. It takes a bit of getting used to but it's soooo worth it if you're trying to improve your game.

The thing is: this method always worked for me when playing Halo, every gunfight I can already tell (mostly) who'll come out victorious, I feel the flow of every bullet being shot.
In Destiny however I can be as relaxed and smooth as I want but that'll never change the fact that someone with a super/OHKO ability/shotgun would eventually come up and destroy me. Half of the time it's relatively unpredictable, mainly because of 6v6 in small maps too. The amount of free kills this game gives to anybody just demoralises me so, SO much

Short term flow state. To go from an overstimulated state to a calm one, and then applying all that brainpower that was firing off wildly on a single target. That's when you get the slow motion effect focus.
When stressed, often times the opposite happens, a "Zone" effect. Your brain is expecting a specific outcome youve planned, and to get the stress over with, your brain accelerates time through it's expectation. This is when you get the situations where you didn't sprint long enough for a charge, your shotgun felt like it wasn't ready on time("jams"), a shot you think should've landed but didn't, you peeked without being fully healed when you were sure enough time passed. You got caught in the zone effect and what you thought happened didn't. It was just what you wanted to happen and it "played out" in front of your eyes. Remember to stay calm.

1.) Not caring or getting worked up (Used to be a guy who cursed, hoot and hollered, ha, ha) which is keeping me relaxed.
2.) Disengaging early or just not taking fights i can't win. I struggled with that D1 and a chunk of D2 but now I've learned to be much more of a slippery little rat. :D

Slow is smooth and smooth is fast is a saying you hear quite a lot in APEX and overwatch. Too many first-time fps players try to jump all the way to fast flicky aiming

I think part of the reason why i've gotten worse at games is because I got a bigger TV. Got a huge 4k TV because I like watching movies/netflix but I game on it too and I feel like I always struggle in my ability to aim. My thought process is still the same though (saved a team mate in a Halo game because I accurately predicted an opponent rushing with a ghost and then fired out an EMP grenade round to the approximate location I thought the ghost would be) but games like Destiny really rely on reaction time 50% of the time.
I will try everything you've said though. It never occurred to me that I may not be relaxed.

This is called the flow state, and thats just your trigger, mines a deep breath that makes every hair on my body stand up, years of playing fps games and i can now activate it at will, as long as ive smoked a little weed 😂
But ive met people who dont get goosebumps and they just say they relax every muscle and let themselves feel like theyre floating and all sorts of tricks but theyre all under the same umbrella term "flow state" and i think everyones is different, the problem is just finding it.

Yeah, you tell me how I'm supposed to keep track of Icarus Dashing Warlocks every 5 seconds with massive acceleration with sliding, 360 degrees turning MnK crackpots. It's just too much, man. I frequently miss console Destiny 2 PvP. It's 30 fps but goddamn at least I could keep track of people.

Being relaxed in ANY case where you've gotta perform helps immensely. I don't remember exactly when it happened but the first session of PVP in a game (likely a CoD from way back) where i was able to relax even under pressure i started to dominate. Not every single game, but I definitely went from a 16-22 kills/ 1.4KD to a 20-32kills / 2.0 KD player. Generally speaking.
It just helps so fuckin much because you focus on what YOU have to do, because you're not dead you're dead. It's obvious but consider how often we watch these high-skill players win gunfights but still take near fatal damage. That's often the difference in good to great. Just a few HP, dig me?

I don't really play D2 pvp anymore, cause cheaters and DMT 🤷‍♂️
But I still play fps games.
I (and I know I'm not alone here) Deal with anxiety. Yes, anxiety in intense moments.
It can be anything from doing a 1 vs 3 in trials to doing a jumping puzzle during a flawless raid attempt.
I keep a rubber band on my arm and if I feel that I'm getting anxious, I'll flick the rubber band on my arm and it brings me back to normalcy. Reminds me to calm tf down. Works like a charm.
I've gone through hundreds of rubberbands lol.

Just curious.. do you think this kind of mentality would work in other games other than a FPS such as a game like rocket league? I ALWAYS feel like my brain knows what i need to do, but my fingers can't keep up with what my brain is saying needs to be done. I'm usually champ 2 but obviously like everyone else want to climb the ranks.

@@CoolGuyGames I'm definitely going to try your method in games like Destiny. I always feel like I need to perform in things like Trials(I LFG because my clan would rather jump off the map) and I'm going to try it for the other games also. Good video as usual!

There was a kid that I was teaching to aim using this type of method and he used to be like Elmer Fudd with an Auto Rifle and now he's hitting things in the head with snipers in this and/or other games.
