I’m convinced UA-cam is purposefully not showing me food theory and style theory videos as much as game and film because I was doing laundry and got reminded of the laundry videos Matt and Steph did and purposefully searched for it, only to then remember after watching that video that I haven’t actually seen many recent theory videos outside of game and film. 10:51 I feel another reason for the milk working well is the fact that toxic waste's main sour coating is on the outside, which is what makes it really strong at first but then get weaker later.
The honey made it worse because like with water and capsaicin, honey won’t dissolve or neutralise the acid powder used to make the sweets sour. So the particles were being moved around your mouth and then the backs of your throats and got stuck there. The viscosity(which normally is useful for soothing sore throats) was clinging to your connective tissue and basically holding the particles against the surface to cause more irritation for longer, making the sensation worse. Just like water moving capsaicin around the mouth and making the chemical touch more of your receptors. Or at least that’s what I think is happening from my own experience eating sour sweets like this. I was the weird kid who never really found toxic waste sweets to be that sour and I was always looking for more sour sweets so I have a lot of experience. So cool to see the pain games are continuing on this channel, even if it’s not spice related. Also if you do another episode like this, do not- I repeat DO NOT use alcohol to try and stop the sour. You will be in a world of pain

Lee is very matter of fact and has a solid voice over, but I can't help but feel that Tom just isn't quite up to the scripts he writes for himself, his intonation and pacing are all off.

Shayne got a meal that he didn't really react to, the ones who knew what was in it were confused, so Josh took a bite and immediately regretted it (the whole thing had a bunch of citric acid in it). I recommend looking up the clip, it's still one of my favourite moments from the series :'D

Then, as an adult, someone introduced me to Barnetts (shipped here from the UK) and it was the first time in a while I felt like I was having truly sour candy. I love them. Unfortunately I feel like I can only have max 2 at a time because you can feel that it's really not great for your tooth enamel and skin in your mouth. But they're super tasty!

This was one of the 2 main things that I was looking through the comments to see if anyone had mentioned. Miracle Berries probably should have been one of the options, though I suppose that it would have trivialized the whole experiment. The other thing is that they really shouldn't have had Honey as an option. Honey is itself acidic (often with a pH lower than 4) so it's no wonder that they had such a negative reaction to it. It basically reacted the exact opposite as the baking soda chemically.

The other issue is it would have had to be a separate test at the end of the episode because it will last for hours so you couldn't have it during the testing phase. It also isn't a "cure" as it does take a little bit of time to take effect.
I had already tried the first three things in this video but how they struggled so much with the toxic wast is beyond me. Oh and the third one was really as bad as they said! The first time I had it I spat it out straight away as well, but then I did it again and waited until I had eaten the entire thing .So in a short please the mega sour raspberry candy and try to keep in in your mouth for as long as possible. I really love the video though it’s one of my favourites alongside how long could you survive in a grocery store:)

I honestly like to think that Matpat's retirement was just a ploy to get him on hot-ones.
Think about it, what better way to get attention to questionnaire show than to become unbelievably popular in a short amount of time and to show that you're (slightly) more free than usual.

I was just talking about this with my brother about how the sour taste is pretty much overlooked in media these days in terms of people enjoying it.
God, I really gotta say, fo all the new hosts, Santi really has proven to have won my heart the most. I really didn't care all that much about Food Theory before the switch, but after? I am SAT for pretty much every episode. I'm not keeping up with _any_ of the others as much as this one, though Game Theory and Style Theory are fighting for second place. Just- props to you, Santi. You're really the shining star here.

I love seeing Josh on other channels. Good Mythical Kitchen is one of the BEST cooking shows hands-down. The chaotic energy of the show really make it interesting and entertaining, especially as a person with ADHD.

What about those miracle berries
This is what I was looking for or I was going to post it. Eat some miracle berries and this challenge becomes trivial.
This was one of the 2 main things that I was looking through the comments to see if anyone had mentioned. Miracle Berries probably should have been one of the options, though I suppose that it would have trivialized the whole experiment.
The other thing is that they really shouldn't have had Honey as an option. Honey is itself acidic (often with a pH lower than 4) so it's no wonder that they had such a negative reaction to it. It basically reacted the exact opposite as the baking soda chemically.
@@mtmcdougall7097 Went though pages of comment to find Miracle Fruit. The other issue is it would have had to be a separate test at the end of the episode because it will last for hours so you couldn't have it during the testing phase. It also isn't a "cure" as it does take a little bit of time to take effect.
Honestly Miracle berry should have been a special remedy.
It took me so long to realize that santi's shirt just had a dark blue design and wasn't just a massive wet spot.

Putting this episode in 1.25 speed made the whole thing SO much better and hilarious, especially Josh's reaction at the end. Pure gold guys.
I had already tried the first three things in this video but how they struggled so much with the toxic wast is beyond me. Oh and the third one was really as bad as they said! The first time I had it I spat it out straight away as well, but then I did it again and waited until I had eaten the entire thing .So in a short please the mega sour raspberry candy and try to keep in in your mouth for as long as possible. I really love the video though it’s one of my favourites alongside how long could you survive in a grocery store:)
