I'm so excited to share another American Girl video with you (finally)! Today I am focusing on thrifted items and how to make them look beautiful for resale! I worked at American Girl's Boston store for almost 8 years and I love sharing my passion for AG with you!! I hope you enjoy this video! Remember to like and subscribe if you'd would like to see more videos about American Girl! Thanks so much for watching!
thanks for this FUN video,,nice to watch you talk about something you really love that you came through.. and alsothanks because we all need to watch out for these.NO DOLL LEFT BEHINd
Dearest Lori- unbelievably this video stuck in my head! Because of that I was able to spot an original perfect company Samantha steamer trunk at my local Goodwill as I was walking out the door to leave. Goodwill had it marked at $8.89! I quickly scooped it up and when I got home it was filled with clothes. I had already picked up some American girl doll books featuring Molly, Kirsten, Josefina, and felicity. They are now all photographed and listed in a lot and I am keeping my fingers crossed. I owe it all to you and I am forever thankful. Keep making these great videos, your knowledge is incredible and inspiring
Great haul! I am currently in the process of selling my 300+ item collection and have made almost $2000 for less than half! 90% of my collection was purchased second hand!
I did not expect to find this so interesting! My daughter was only into the books, but I remember her getting the catalogs and by jaw dropping with the amount of doll items that were available.
I am still an AG lover and had a great time watching this and identifying what outfit everything was from! Please do more videos like this if you find more! Excited to watch as everything sells.
I always wanted an American Girl doll as a child, but they were too expensive. I've never found one, but the inner child in me may not let it go if I ever found one. Thank you for sharing this it was really cool to learn.
Just an incredible haul! I appreciate your knowledge. My daughter who is 27 now has many dolls and accessories. Prob a goldmine by now. She’s saving them for her daughter, who is 18 months. So FUN to see my granddaughter now playing with bitty baby. Love watching all your videos
Holy cow! That is an amazing find. Thank you for all of the information. This might be my new Lori favorite video! My second oldest still collects AG. I went to the AG in NYC last week for the first time. I can see why collectors want the originals. Quality has gone down hill.
Lori,Thank you so much for this info! I have always been a doll collector (and I was an original one of a kind dollmaker years ago) and this has inspired me to begin seeking out American girl dolls for resale. My daughter (now grown) and I used to peruse the American Girl dolls at NYC years ago and have very fond memories. Thanks for the detailed info!
Lori - I had the fairy costume for my Molly doll and also had the fairy costume for me!! I remember begging my parents to let me get it. Next time I’m home, I’ll have to see if they still have all of it!!
I love all your videos & you are by far my fave reselling content creator. *Side note- I told my older kiddos abt the thrift boxes you do for your kids & give them at Christmas. They loved the idea & we are going to start doing that also!! Thank you for helping us create a new tradition❤️
As a boy mom I never got into AG at all but it was fascinating to watch this video as a reseller. Very informative and I know to watch for these now. Thanks for sharing!
Loved this video. My daughter age 33 has 3 dolls in her old closet. Makes me want to go dig them out. Two years ago I found one of the original dolls in the green velvet dress only at a thrift store. I knew nothing and sold her for $45
Great video! My daughter has lots of dolls, clothes and some furniture. This video helped me see that when she is finished with them, I can sell them. Thank you for all your knowledge about American Girl!
So excited to see another AG video! Every time you showed an outfit I was like it would be good money but I’d keep a lot of it lol! Wish I could find goodwills like this around me! They never have by the lb bins!
So fun to watch after sorting through my daughters’ American Girl doll stuff, just have to figure out what to keep and what to find a new home for. You probably don’t remember but I asked you a while ago about getting replacement rubber bands for the Mia skating rink, American Girl customer service said no luck, and I just found them! So now I have the complete rink new in the box! Sorry for rambling but my husband does not find this interesting at all lol. Thanks for the awesome video!
All I’ve never wanted to hear about American Girl dolls, (I have 3 boys), but I found it quite interesting 🤔. Love your enthusiasm for it all. And the ROI‼️❤️. Love you Lori 🥰
Loved this video and learning about the outfits and different dolls. My Molly girl still has her original braids but should be taken out to have a bit of a clean. I also have trading cards, mot a full set but a good amount of both versions of them.
I really enjoyed this video. I have seen American girl dolls but because I didn’t know anything about them I didn’t pick them up. Such great information. Thank you! 💕
Please make more videos on this topic. My granddaughter has a AG doll and I started making clothes for. Then I thought well I should have one here at my home to use and try things on to check fit and looks. Well, tonight I have ordered 2 used dolls.. I’m off into it now. 🤭 I already collect ob11 dolls and Blythe dolls. Oops 🙊 but I’m loving your knowledge. Thanks for sharing
Lori, my daughter was gifted a Kirsten when she was little. I put it up in a cupboard not to be touched or played with. I would say it was approximately 1995 or so. Do you have any idea what they go for mint in box??
I have to be honest I know very little about AG … but this video was so interesting! Plus your enthusiasm had me hooked!!!! Ty … I will be on the lookout from now on :) appreciate all your videos and content!!!!
Looks like you hit the jackpot! Though I have no interest in collecting the dolls personally, I figured this would be helpful if I found a doll or accessories when thrifting. Lots of great info! Thanks!
Might be a bit late with this, but the blue floral dress you started the bag with was one of the 1st Easter dresses for Th Girl of Today/Truly Me present day dolls. Plus, the logo on the inner tube, I believe, goes back to the start of the Girl of Today dolls.
As a customizer it is possible to replace the hair but you have to make sure you remove all of the glue, wig replacements are fairly common, I’m not sure if American girl will do them but if you get in contact with a custom doll maker they will probably replace the wig for you for half as much as what American girl would charge.
This was very interesting, and what a great deal you got. I live in NZ and we do not find things like this at our second hand stores. You have such great stores over in the US. I look for secondhand dolls on our auction site here, I bought a TLC Julie a few weeks ago and managed to find her New Year outfit and another for a reasonable price. Before that I bought Isabelle, not realising it was her and she had the cheer outfit you showed which I sold and kept the doll. I love looking out for the clothes and this was very informative. Thanks so much :)
Oh Lori! I LOVE you so much. I have a feeling we had too much responsibly as children and we missed the playing with dolls stage of our childhood. Love your enthusiasm. When you dumped the bag of clothes Literally said outloud..."Like CHRISTMAS MORNING!" Ha!!! What a great video! Thank you!
Thank you Misty! I was a little old for these dolls but I loved my Cabbage Patch Kids. Working here was a really special time. I loved that my Angie was just 6 when I started so she got the full experience while I was there. Thank you so much for watching! xo
I found a bunch of American Girl Clothes and Accessories at the bins a while back. I need to go to storage and get it all out and list it. Im sure itll sell better this time of year since Christmas is coming up.
I had the Kit doll in the early 2000s. Wish I still had her for my daughter! Thank you for this video! Now I want to go on an American Girl Doll shopping spree 😆
Hayyy!!!, Son tan hermosas 😍💕💕💕 muchas gracias por compartir este video, comparto tu afición por las muñecas 💜💚🧡😍 saludos desde Veracruz México 👍🤗 mi like y mi suscripción 🤗💕
I sent my Mia St Clair to the doll hospital and she came back looking totally different they change the face molds or something so I had to request for her old head back didn’t like it but it’s nice that they offer that
What did you end up keeping for your collection besides the fairy outfit? Boy Mom here. I never realized the extent of the collection? I kinda want to see your personal collection someday, Lori.
I resell mainly women's clothing and follow your channel because of that (and adore you! :) ) but knowledge is power. If I learn a tid bit about another category that could make me money and I'm already out thrifting, why not, right?! Clothes is clothes whether its for women or dolls :)
Hi Lori. Loved this video. I am selling AG items for a friend. One of the dolls is Kanani. She is in awesome shape but her hair has two braids done by the daughter. Would you recommend I unbraid - wash - condition - and style her hair back to near original?
I found an American girl doll at goodwill, she has an ink mark on her face. Is there a safe way to remove it? Would a baking soda paste work? Thank you for all of the great information.
I would try the baking soda paste first. Magic eraser sometimes works, but you need to be careful that it doesn't remove the coloring on her cheeks or lips.
I really need to go through my old collection, I think I have about 4 or 5 dolls? and a bunch of their little accessories, even a little winter chalet 🥺 they really are precious, i kinda wish i had space to display them lol
Very interesting video. I picked up an AG doll at my local Savers. How do you figure out which doll you have? Do they have numbers or names on them? Thanks

Lori I have a bin of dolls and clothing/ accessories I don’t even know what to do with them… they are in great condition I want to sell them. I don’t know their names … do you do a video call ?
oh so easy to ship . I saw an american girl doll at a yard sale but they wanted 20.00 and I was not sure who she was ... I thought about you and thought oh geesh not going to bother you . I did quick comps but I could not tell who she was very pretty had a nice weight and feel to her came with clothes that woman said were american girl but I looked through the few items and none of them were marked american girl . SO I left her thinking I will hit the yard sale on the way back and if she was still there I'll make an offer of 10 I was willing to gamble 10 but not 20. Yard sale was closed when I came back that way
Hi 5 original American girl dolls. They’re in perfect condition not played with the only thing I don’t have is the boxes and I was wondering how I could resell them. If you have any information, can you please send me a message
Can you send me some information I have 6 dolls that were given to me with clothing and accessories can you please assist I don’t know which doll is which
Now I have to look through the bins of American Girl stuff from my daughters! I’m hoping you don’t mind a question. I have a skating rink that went with the Mia doll. I don’t think we ever used it, and I was thinking of listing it. But it seems to be missing the 12 rubber bands that came with it to help position Mia. Any ideas on what would be the best way to replace them? I’m assuming there would not be a replacement part for these at this point (I think it was from 2008?) Anyway, I love your videos and you’ve inspired me to figure out what my girls would be willing to part with!
Ebay and Mercari are so flooded with American girl items, there’s no profit to be made unless it’s the rarest of the rare pleasant go 1980’s items. That’s it now. Collecting since the 80’s . And selling. I know
Are you able to direct me to that contact that can look at my doll and tell me her name or number. I have looked all over the only thing I know is that she is from 2014.
@@LorisBostonFound No, you’re pronouncing it correctly! It sounded a little off to me so I looked it up and I’m wrong…I’ve always said it as “buh-rette”!
@@ricochetkitty7215 a burette is a glass tube (used in chemistry). It is pronounced the way you were pronouncing barrette....so you were at least pronouncing an actual word....unlike my attempts to pronounce many words, which are not even real words lol!

Hi, so I received an AG doll back when I was in late elementary maybe Middle school and I am in college now. My dad gave me the doll IVY, and told me to never open it because it can be worth something someday, and by his word I never opened it. It has just been sitting in my closet in the box he gave her in. I heard recently she is isn't being made any more. How would I go about selling her?
What about the books? Do they have any value?
Very informative!
Do these "exclusive" Christmas open houses have great deals? I am about 30 minutes from Tysons Corner right outside of DC.
I don't get it. I keep seeing how valuable these dolls are but when I check ebay it seems that the pricing is all over the place! You can get a 1986 Samantha doll for anywhere from $80 to $999. They all look the same. Pleasant Co. stamp on neck, original meet outfit, label on clothing, etc. What makes it more valuable? Then there were the 35th Anniversay editions. I was today years old when I learned that I’ve been mispronouncing the word “barrette” incorrectly my entire life! 😂
😂😂 Maybe I'm pronouncing it wrong, lol!
