So....I purchased an AG doll from the thrift store. Someone had GLUED HER LEG BACK ON, and she could not sit. I got another AG doll today at an estate sale. Her leg was clean off! She was $2! Your video, and one other AG restringing video, saved me a lot of $$$$$$! My son says that I am now a doll surgeon! HA! Thank you for my degree in doll surgery. You are the best! Thank you so much.
Thank you! It was really nice to see a tutorial on this so I can do it correctly in the future! I have bookmarked your web-site. I always like seeing how to fix up dolls. I love "rescuing" them :)
Months ago I promised myself not to buy anymore dolls but after watching your video's I broke my promise and bid on a American Girl doll. If I win I'll name her Rachel😁
I feel the happiness and joy in Paul's smile and his eyes it makes me love my dolls even more. I don't have american girl dolls I have Newberry( I'm from canada) and my life as. Also I have 2 glitter girls. They are all I can afford and I treat them with love and care❤
I love rescuing dolls! This is really helpful. I have also cheated a bit and used the rubber band method. Which is basically pulling out all the stuffing and pulling the string on the limbs so it is tight. Then tying a rubber band to hold the tightness. It probably doesn't last but it is a quick and easy fix.
This was very interesting to see how the stuffed dolls are restrung. That was an amazing amount of stuffing inside them. It gives me confidence to resting now. Thank you Rachel
Thank you Rachel and Kathy for this interesting tutorial😃😃 and I would have never thought to use Acne cream to get stains out either🤗🤗!!! And I think Kathy should open up a Doll Hospital in her Neighborhood for American Girl Dolls and perhaps even other Dolls😃😃💖💖💖💖💖!! However, I have learned a lot about restringing and re-stuffing which are a real art!😃😃!! I really enjoyed this video and it was nice to see Holland Diane exploring her Doll environment😃😃💖💖💖💖💖!!! And I really LOVE Paul's new American Girl Doll that Kathy said is a Truly Me 60😃😃👍👍!!!
I watched this video Friday night and Saturday Amazon delivered all the “tools” I need to tighten the limbs! I fixed my Samantha and Kirsten and they can finally stand again! Great job at explaining so Thoroughly!
Great tutorial! I bought 3/16 inch elastic cord shown on the website (dif brand) but it's too large for the limb cups. I found 4mm and once I get it I will see if it works.
I've got me one just like her..so good to see how to repair her..I take her every time I go to dance class..in Trinidad and Tobago carnival we have a traditional character called the "Babydoll" she's part of my act where I go looking for the father 🤣 where I need money to buy milk and pampers. I've learned so much from watching your videos.
Thank you so much for your tutorial. I had your video open while I was restringing two dolls and I still have a few more to go. I was surprised when I took them out after being stored for a few years how loose the limbs were. On the first one once we realized that they needed to be warmed long enough in the heating pad the cups come right out.
I damaged one of my white cups. Do you know where I can get replacements? Thank you so much for this...rteaching the art of estoring beautiful things and keeping them from going to waste is such valuable work!
I was wondering if you could share where you purchase the cording you use for neck string replacement? I have looked for this brand and haven’t had luck in finding it. Thank you!!
My favorite stuffing tool is the eraser end of a new pencil. No danger of tearing the fabric. I would be scared of that stuffing fork!! Thanks for the video. Very interesting. Does American Girl still do doll repairs for your dolls?
I need your help. I purchased the piping you showed in your video on Amazon, 2mm. It is too small in diameter. I have the doll all apart and I'm ready for that step. Can you send me a link to the exact product so I can finish the project? Thank you
Awesome video I've seen many restringing videos put not an in depth In How to re stuff the AG dolls. I got am $2 thiftstore ag doll that needs her one leg restrung and I'm debating on re wiging her cause her hair was cut super short.body tag says 2008 and her neck stamp says pleasant company so I think she Samantha. My mom said I should send the doll in the doll hospital and to keep the dolls head because she's an older doll.
This is how I fix the American Girl dolls but, in working on one of mine I dropped one of the cups and, lost it. Where can I get replacement cops for the dolls? I also use an electricians tool for crimping the Durrell on the elastic. Do you remember the Hop Scotch Kids that Pleasant company had out? I am looking for instructions on how to re-string these. Anyone have suggestions for this? Thank you showing this.
I had to stop the video at 10:50 and say something - why isn’t your friend replacing a zip-tied doll head with another zip-tie? If your friend is so hellbent on having the same stuffing in in an older doll, I fail to understand why she wants to regress a newer doll by replacing the zip tie with strings. You need to respect the doll’s era, period! I’ve restored dozens of Cabbage Patch Kid dolls in the past, they all had zip-tied heads starting in 1982… it’s easy-peasy and takes less than a minute to cut the zip tie, take it out, do whatever you need to do, slip in a new zip tie and tighten it, snip off the excess end of the zip tie and push the little plastic box inside the fabric to hide it. Much, much quicker and more efficient than watching your friend struggle with a bunch of twine wrapped with scotch tape. I’m going to also say that if I’m giving the doll to a little kid, a zip tie is going to be a lot safer than strings hanging out. It’s also more aesthetically pleasing. I’m about to turn a busted AG Evette doll into a beautiful custom fantasy doll with purple hair and eyes - that’s why I’m watching these kinds of videos. But you can bet that I’ll be putting her head back with another zip tie, not a piece of string. No hate to your very knowledgeable AG friend, I just think her logic here isn’t computing.
In my opinion, a zip tie isn’t nearly as important as original stuffing when talking about originality, and maybe a zip tie works better. When we repair antique dolls, we use different kinds of repair cord and it makes no difference. If you really want to know, you could send her a KIND inquiry.

Kathy is amazing to watch. I learned so much watching her. Paul is very happy to be there and learn too. Stay well and safe. From Tennessee
Thank you again! It is so cool to see what has changed with soft bodied dolls and what has stayed the same.

I love one of the baby dolls with the long hair

I loved this!
Wow a true surgery! acne cream 10%benzoil, this cream is a (doll) life saver. Thanks again Kathy.
Thank you! ♥️

Love your Chanel
I love your video you teach well.
Where did you find your storage case for your doll supplies
Very interesting!
This was great! Thank you!!
You're so welcome!

Hi there. Is there any way you can list the items needed to restring in text?
I was wondering if you could share where you purchase the cording you use for neck string replacement? I have looked for this brand and haven’t had luck in finding it. Thank you!!
thanks for sharing
My favorite stuffing tool is the eraser end of a new pencil. No danger of tearing the fabric. I would be scared of that stuffing fork!! Thanks for the video. Very interesting. Does American Girl still do doll repairs for your dolls?
Does the benz peroxide work for marker stains? I've tried everything. Pink marker on the face.
Maybe try Formula 911 from DollsParts.
I need your help. I purchased the piping you showed in your video on Amazon, 2mm. It is too small in diameter. I have the doll all apart and I'm ready for that step. Can you send me a link to the exact product so I can finish the project? Thank you
What supplies do you need to do this for the body strings and end cords?

Curious why you would replace the zip tie with a neck string instead of another zip tie?
You could try both methods. This is just what Kathy found works best for her repairs but there’s many ways to do it.
Could someone tell me where to buy the cording for the limbs?
Can someone tell me the brand of the macrame cord i cant make it out Thanks
How do you fix the eyes that have turned red on 18 inch dolls ?
I use chopsticks for stuffing into the tight places.
This is great, but I think I would t be able to do it. I might have to send it to the doll hospital.
I feel like the girl from the AG meme ('I think I know more about American Girl than you do, genius") grew up to be Kathy Leppert.
Hello, do you have a service where people can ship their doll to you for repairs? I have a pleasant company doll that needs an arm reattached
Is Paul going to make an American Girl doll UA-cam channel?
We hope so!
🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍💕
I am a 72 year old American Girl and some of my joints are loose too.! !!
💖💖💖
I just got 4 AGD for 100$ on Kijiji and i have no idea who they are and what their name is! Is there anyway to know?
Maybe check an AG Facebook group?
I pulled apart my doll and the cups that go in the body - not the limbs are not there. So now what???
Hi! I would contact a professional and ask them to repair it for you.

Ma perché non lavate mai in acqua e sapone da bucato i corpi e le imbottiture???
