I remember this well but I think for the Burl Ives version. M&G just snuck in before Liverpool burst on the scene, along with so many others back then.

It was very much mums' and dads' music even back then - they were popular (mainly in the UK only) due to their luvvie dovie and softly softly approach. Lonny Donnigan helped to promote them [he is seen at the begining of the film playing a guitar].
