Many, many verses of Scripture support this. God does love the world, in so far as “common grace.” The Bible says that the rain falls on the just and the unjust. Rain is a blessing from God. Without rain, humanity would become extinct. God’s goodness and grace expands to the sinner in nature as well as to the righteous man, but salvation belongs only to the elect. I think you’re wrong about this. Calvin teaches two things. I’m not English so forgive my mistakes. Calvin teaches predestination and men’s responsibility to be saved. Predestination is from the perspective of God and the Bible teaches us that God knows everything even before we were born. Our responsibility is from the perspective of us human beings. If you believe in God and your faith is right then you can get comfort that God was knowing you first and did choose you or set you apart. The big problem is that some people went the wrong way with this teaching and only teach the predestination which is not meant for us.
