Unity actually does have a way to disable backface culling in it's materials. At least in URP which most people use now. Just under the surface options, you turn "render face" From front to both
This is the second time I heard that since I released the video. Sorry for the mistake! I don't know how I've missed that since I was looking for it when making one of my asset packs heh
This is one of the best blender tutorials (imo) it's perfectly simple and explains almost everything you might need as a programmer without modelling knowlege
Tip: if you want to smooth faster don't do as he did, where he goes through the options, just right click and click "shade smooth". Very quick and easy.
The best tutorial I've ever seen. Showing everything that's relevant for a beginner like me while also giving me the feeling of "Yeah, that doesn't seem so bad! I can do that too!" Amazing work!
Only started using Blender a couple of months back. After 4-5 years on Maya. You are the first to get a lot right about game optimization and game models. Most other videos are good for modelling for animation or even film but not game ready objects. A lot of small tips like how you smoothed the faces around the 12 minute mark. Been searching for this tip for hours
@3:00 , seeing the timeline constantly running while you were explaining the steps just made this more relatable lmaoo, I be accidentally pressing spacebar by instinct all the time 😂!
thank you for making the easiest quick and understandable explanation on making a modular set of models. that was something ive been wondering for a while lol
Great tutorial my timestamp: 5:20 (edges of each piece must align with the grid so each modular piece snaps perfectly) timestamp 8:54 (If there is flickering, I may have to adjust the heights of certain faces so they no longer overlap)
I've been watching you on my tv in my bedroom for a few days now so i havent seen your sub count or subscribed until just now, i cant beleive u only have ~8k subs your content is great!
Just wanted to note if you are using Unity, you can click on your model (.fbx) in its asset folder and in the inspector hit automatically generate lightmap. (so you don't have to worry about lightmapping in blender if you're using unity)
Im here taking a peep into prop modeling after i enrolled in a course, just to see what i should know without going in blind it feels. I super love ur execution and humor. Also this is the most simple video ive seen someone do on blender, thank god 😂 To me its basically CSP but for shapes lmao and i dont need to know every single tiny setting going in 😭 its something you have to learn over time! So thanks for giving me info thatll actually stick to my brain walls
This is such a great tutorial for all of those who've been trying to begin making a game, even as an unity user this has been very helpful, keep on the great work
Love the UI look. Always been a struggle for me to make UI look good but I like the way you did the hotbar. Also for the weed system. Not sure how many other problems with the gardening system you might be adding but you could look at maybe have an icon like a caution icon that flashes over the garden or near it and when you click or hover it can show like hey there are weeds that need addressing etc etc. And you can give the player an option in the settings to turn on or off visual assistance.
This is the best tutorial to be honest, i mean I understand this guy dont show you the rope....but this video is not a watchalong and do video. Tbh, I am sick off watching videos that handholding me. I been doing that for some other software now. I dont want to be in that similiar situation again. Anyway, I already got the gist of how the expected/target result that someone using blender needs. And from that, I guess I can learn on my own. Anyway, thanks Jens for the video and humour😂
Thanks, I took a ton of inspiration from your video and made my own tile set to start building a first Unity level. Textures/materials haven't "clicked" yet but I'll get there.
Is it possible to do a step by step for like every shortcut you were talking about honestly was trying to follow along as i learn by mimicing and when you randomly had the extra layer for the bottom of the wall i was so lost
6:35 is hell for me. i have been trying for the last 2 hours do this and i just wanna give up. you shouldnt have gone so lightly on such an important aspect
The method with the color palette is so cute but doesn't it really suck for baking since you are basically only using a fraction of your texture space? And btw why aren't you just using the brick texture node in blender? Love the video and your content none the less! Good work :)))
Not to hate, but the "just do this" directions left me completely unaware of what 'this' was. I'm a blender novice (if that) so maybe I'm jumping into the deep end here but a bit more explanation as to what you're doing would be great.
for those who are using unity and facing that transparency problem just add a solidify modifier to your mesh with a vert little value and the problem will be solved....
At 7:22, he says to move the origins to the middle and export. I can see in the menu on the right that he has not deleted the other models, yet he is exporting each piece independently. How do you make all of these models in the same Blender project but export them independently?
how did you chop the wall at 6:08? How did you merge vertices for the corner? My object origin snaps away from the grid by like .25 inches, how do i fix this?
I'll check out that material maker. Never was able to make good looking textures. Always turns out blurry. Doesn't blender come with all material maker's functionality already?
I have already built the map that I will use for my game in Blender, but I am undecided whether it is better to recreate it with the modular pieces in Unreal, what do you recommend?

amazing work i am a 16 year old 11 grader who wants to make my dream game and start coding but its hard can u do a vid or a series for coding or recommend a vid that u might have used in the past to start coding cause after i finish grade 11 and 12 and enter college i want to become a dev and can do anything i need without any problem an reply from u whould mean alot and u just earned a new sub keep up the good work and good luck on ur game
Sorry for the late reply, been busy working on my newest video. If you use unreal engine you don't need to write any actual code but can do visual scripting. My advice however if you were to use unreal would still be to learn coding first though, because it is essentially the same way you use visual scripting as you write code. It was a while since I used anything but if I remember correctly there's a website called codecademy where you can learn coding interactively straight in the browser. Check it out to see if you can still use it for free! Hope that helps and good luck on your dev journey! :)
at 6:33 he says to extrude the loop but i cant make the loop do it to both sides at once if i hold down a directional key it just moves one side properly then the other goes into the wall what am I missing
Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'll try to answer them!
Can you do a Video named "I made my Dream Game"?
@@keanu3865 I might do something like that at some point :o
What's wrong with your face?!
Can you compile the assets you made in this video and share them to us

As a programmer trying to understand art this is a surprising useful information piece
great to hear! :)

Most materials are rendering front faces only tbh

This smooths the whole model though
@@kitsunemusicisfire not when you go first into "Edit-Mode" and select only the faces you want to shade smooth. Then right click and "shade smooth"

I would actually buy a low poly blender course made by you. So simple yet so elegant. Well done, sir.
Loved your video. You deserve more subs. Also nice trick you got there using the uv unwrap window the way you did.
I LOVE THE CORNER PEACE OF THE BREAD

I was actually wondering why I wasn't subbed. Great video!
Proper good blender tutorial thank you very much :)
This was funny, educational, perfectly executed, exciting, and I enjoyed every second of it. Thank you
bro i munch on the corner piece all day if i had to and love every second of it
Actually helpful and straight to the point.
excellent approach for teaching ! will start following you. thank you sir !
Very informative video to a new blender user thank you
You can also extrude the tree leaves a tiny amount to make it double sided if you need to.

thank you, my brother, i subscribed and liked this masterpiece. cya
12:52 In a shader graph you can also just enable two sided faces
Thank you so much 4 this man
me, someone who actually subbed when you said to sub c: I have been struggling. trying to practice isometrics and this video helped so much
13:00 in unity u can just make a shader graph shader material with double sided rendering enabled
come on now, i love the heel of a loaf of bread!!!

Bro I just clicked on a 3d modeling vid and found out it was made by jeb
NO WAY, 4 WHOLE BUCKS?! 😭
hilarious, loved it
there's an asset that helps to render both sides in unity
As soon as i saw his "one" game developed i knew this guy knows shit about modeling
You can fix normals in unreal by using its modelling mod. also materials has a option which makes them 2 faced. Cheers.
