I think John was trying to illustrate the importance of timing. Something that most guitar players suck at. Most are only concerned with how fast they can rip through a solo. But that was pure soul that John was laying down.

Can anyone help me understand John’s tone, especially that first riff? Don’t know if he switches pickups or pedals after that, but the tone and effects of that first bar is delicious. Any guesses?
Whenever this happens when I’m playing with someone it could throw things off in a way but we usually just keep playing and the band goes around again til we get back on track. This kinda thing only really happens when we’re going for solos. We stay on track the rest of the time lol.

Where can I find the names (by number) of the major and minor pentatonic shapes? I know the shapes but in my mind learned them via the caged letters. Would love to memorize them by shape #1 or #2 etc.
