Your like half Jerry Garcia, half Care Bear. We all need more Stitch in our lives. Thanks as always, bud.
I would love to see this man play in a dead cover band
So well said!!!
Or a fuzzy yoda
He is the best. His love of teaching and joy comes through.
Love this comment so much.. much love Brent and Stich :)
Old guy with no guitar experience here: this is an excellent tutorial to get stuck in. A lot of understanding packed into a simple method. Thank you very much (and thank you Jeff for bringing it up).
holy COW this was elucidating and i've been noodling for almost 20 years at this point
I always like how
I IV V
and
ii iii vi
fit together like Tetris blocks. That's how I "see" them.
And the same thing happens with the I on an A-string root. I need super simple stuff like this to keep my place on the neck 👍🏼
I love when I know what the fuck an instructor is talking about but I still learn something!!!
Years ago I got called up on stage in a bar in Key West, the band's guitarist said, "Blues, 1,4,5 in "A", 8 bars and a turnaround. First time through I'll take 4 then you take 4, then we'll each solo a full 8 and finish with a "dualie", can you handle it"???
I'm soooooo glad I knew wtf he was talking about!!!
It went so well we got a standing ovation 😁.
It could've been a disaster but getting out and jamming with people while I was learning taught me the much needed lingo I needed to communicate ideas without having to explain them in depth.
This is VERY VALUABLE if you have a paying crowd or if you're paying for studio time!!!
Great lesson here... Communication is EVERYTHING when collaborating on ANYTHING!!!
I’m going to watch this video over and over again. This may be the most consequential theory lesson I’ve ever had.
Spread the word👍😬
Thanks, I needed that!
So appreciate you and your lessons. Happy I crossed your path.

I love these videos. I've played for years, but I learn alot from your lessons. Thanks a ton!
Blew me away with this. Thanks Ian. So glad your around man.
For as long as I've played guitar (poorly I might add) and despite the fact I generally understand key and scale theory, I had never put this together. Brilliant. Thank you
Wow! Picked this up immediately.
Great easy addition. Thanks!
And it STILL works...Thanks!!
You have an excellent way of presenting your lessons. Thank you for sharing your knowledge ! 😊
I subbed cause of this video. Much needed visual
Thanks Jeff
6:20 Magic , this whole
tutorial! For this section
you say you have to have
every letter name in a scale
or key. I guess conversely
and which might be simpler
for me is that : You do not
us the same letter twice in
a key, hence we can't use a
given letter in the key twice,
so since we used 'A' min,
we don't call A # , A # we call
it Bb .
What a Pattern!!! Thanks so much for sharing this..Helps soooo much....
Brilliant lesson. So many lightbulb moments when watching your stuff. Thank you
Great insight, on knowing the chord qualities and chord patterns of notes in a scale. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks man! You rock. Learning so much from your video's.
Thank u Ian, you’re great🇫🇷👍🏼🍒
You teach really well. I learn something new every time I watch your videos. 😁
Game changer for the newbie...thanks
You Da Man Stitch 🔥🎸🤘
Love the way you explain things!
Thank you
So helpful!!! I’ve been playing for 30 years and I never thought of this. Seems like it’s so fundamental but it’s a lesson I’ve never visualized so easily until you explained it.
Completely agree. How is it possible something so simple was never introduced?!
Super helpful. You are simply a wonderful teacher. Thanks
outstanding Lesson!!!!!!!! I had a WOW moment, THANK YOU.
Thank you sir!! Great stuff here, diggin your approach and your vibes. ❤️♾
This was of great help, now I can noodle properly thanks Mr Stitch
Great information here. After many years this is the first time chords have been explained to me this way. Makes perfect sense. Thank you!
Amazing video
This man is the reason I now know music theory after over 30 years of playing without knowing it. Much gratitude.
Aha!....what a lovely way of explaining what I've been trying to grasp for a while now...many thanks! 👍👍👍😎
Mans just blew my mind 🙏
Awesome
Thank you for this video so helpful just got a looper and I can now play these chord progressions and loop the lead over the top of it... fantastic stuff man you're awesome👍🍻
Ian, I've been watching you since you started your channel and you've done it again. You've made something click that never clicked before. thank you!
Wow wow what a great lesson. You demystified typical chord progression for me!Thank you. Subed!
I will share this lesson with a couple of my friends. They should get a lot out of it!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! The light that went on in my old brain was almost blinding! At last, I think I may understand!!
Been looking for a lesson explaining this for so long, always just looking up notes to a key and never understanding how it connected, this did it perfectly thank you! Stitch is the best
New subscriber thank u master 🙏🥰💜
I appreciate the clarity and insightful nature of all your lessons. Can you please do a variation on this that covers the 1-4-5 with the E shape and A shape caged chord and scale pattern as the starting point staying in the same position?
Interesting!thanks a lot buddy,Godbless
Great 👍 👌 👍
thank you. Very easy to follow and explained really simply. You can never stop learning and this about a guitar being a pattern based instrument has opened my eyes and a light bulb has just clicked.
Awesome to hear, thank you for enjoying
This blew my mind
An abacus for finding the note layout of each key - that's pretty cool. Couple less printouts I need laying around and a lot easier to see this way 👍
Very cool lesson. It really helped me to put together bar chords in a Key, which I've been learning them separately from each other.
Oh and by the way this is the first time I've ever seen this lesson on UA-cam, totally new info , gave me a mini breakthrough.
Thanks brother!
Thanks for caring
Much love from India. Thanks a lot fam
Yet another lesson I should know but only saw the notes on the E string despite knowing the notes on the A string just never put it together, but there goes another piece to the puzzle, thanks
vielen dank für deine geduld und deine mühen du bist der BESTE liebe Grüße Fritz👍
