    the very very very high note that kinda sounds like a scream is done by irene! (yes the main rapper did a D7 high note)
    the members all tried it but irene’s note sounded the best so they kept hers!

    Lists you must listen to their Bside like Marionette, Wildside, Kingdom Come,...

    So about the b-Movie thing the visuals in most / if not all of there MV's are majorly inspired by Stage Theatre from various Performance disciplines.
    You'll find references to Opera, Ballet and as you said here Low budget horror films.
    Red velvet's overall story is a little complicated but here are the spark notes.
    -Red Velvet are said to be in communion with the gods.
    -There are actually 2 sets of girls.
    -The first and original group and their Doll Counterparts that were made by ReVe an entity that can control dreams
    -They are from the Land of Dreams but reside in our world
    -The "Real" girls are witches and have magic powers (These are usually the girls we follow in the velvet / Darker songs)
    -The "Dolls" were made by ReVe in an attempt to recreate Red Velvet so they would always be with him in the world of dreams (These are the girls who appear in the Red / Quirky songs)
    -At some point (Due to Reve losing control) The 2 sets of girls were forced to become full beings and have merged with their counterparts.
    -They may or may not be evil (At the very least grey in morality).
    -We have yet to discover their Motive for the things they have done.
    -Oh and Irene and Seulgi can change into cats (Or might actually be 2 halves of the same person.......that probably won't come up, )
    The MV's do not happen in any sort of chronological order because Dreams don't occur in a linear fashion.
    I've left a bunch of stuff out but this is the gist.

    that "velvet side" pause at 2:44? this is actually a mixture of the two (aka, of course, red velvet) but leans more toward the red side!
    remember, the velvet side is more smooth (and sonically richer; think around the sounds of "bad boy", "psycho", "kingdom come") -- usually r&b, 90s/early 00's inspired.
    and the red side is more your current modern pop (sonically bright, like "ice cream cake", "russian roulette") -- dance, edm inspired.
    and the red velvet mixture (either bright verses with dark choruses/bridges or vice versa; or bright everything over a dark beat or vice versa--"really bad boy", "chill kill") -- tropical house, electronic, synth-pop inspired.
    the best way to fully differentiate the sound is if you go back and re-watch their killing voice, the songs from the "happiness" to "red flavor" is the RED side, "peek-a-boo" to "kingdom come" is the VELVET side, and "time to love" all the way to "chill kill" is Red Velvet.

    Dance practice videos are a recent thing, they didn't exist before.
    If I remember correctly, it started at JYP Entertainment, and ITZY took a practice video and reported it, and Park Jin Young told them to just put it on UA-cam, and it became famous, and that's when it became a trend.
    When Red Velvet was active, there was no such thing as posting dance practice videos.
    It's probably this one. It was taken for internal reporting. They're all barefaced with no makeup on, and it's just practice clothes, and the reason they're famous is because they're so steady live, doing these intense moves.

    The father not really their father. Nope. The guy kidnapper and locked them in the basement, making them believe he's their real father but nope! The guy just using them for entertainment, they can't even make any noises, the night when celebrating youngest sister with fake cake with a wish for freedom, wendy decided to killl the man. The moment they burnt all and get caught by the police they're dancing together for the last time.
    I hate them getting caught as a murderer, it should be them getting founded after missing for a long time

    If you want super red songs, I will suggest Red Flavor, Power Up, Umpah Umpah, and Zimzalabim! :)
    Someone can correct me if I’m wrong but I believe that there is an English version of this as well and it actually super slaps! The scream in this, that whistle note, is Irene - she said she had to bend over to reach it, lol. But the whistle notes at the end are ofc Wendy.
    RV has not been in Queendom but they have a song called Queendom which is the first TT they did after Wendy was recovered from her injuries. I would also suggest you really start looking at their B-sides because along with Dreamcatcher, RV are the absolute QUEENS of b-sides =)

  • @devynmicheli5314
    @devynmicheli5314 9 місяців тому +1

    to settle the conversation you had in the beginning about the theories and the actual happenings on the mv- Red Velvet has no settled and official lore. When they were created they did not have any at all- but with Aespa's debut all of SM's artists was thrown into the Aespa lore. So SM is slowly but surely finding ways to incorporate all of their MV's into this unofficial/unknown lore of Red Velvet. Which is why its hard to get a definite on some of the more confusing mv's.
    The most common tropes among various mvs and extra content is:
    ReVe (a blob-turned-girl-robot character)
    The never-ending ReVe Festival
    Dolls/Maniquins/Robots
    Offing Dudes
    Birthdays
    and more leaned into recently- the girls being magical beings/having magic
    also the dance practices- red velvet are severely behind on releasing them
    their only ones out are Umpah Umpah, Rookie, Feel My Rhythm, Birthday, and their b-side Look
    but on older variety shows like Weekly Idol they have some clips of their dances like red flavor, bad boy, and other songs they perform for concerts (ex: ua-cam.com/video/VsZ_gqtjmyk/v-deo.html)- unfortunately not full performances unless you want to watch x2 dance challenges (ex: peekaboo 2x ua-cam.com/video/v3ZYOgUD3t0/v-deo.html)

      They do totally have lore there is literally a comic called The Story of Reve Released in the runup to Birthday to explain it.

    • @devynmicheli5314
      @devynmicheli5314 9 місяців тому

      @@FashionBarbie it doesn’t explain half of their music videos or exactly who the girls are. just that the reve blob loved these magical performing girls and got sad when they left. turned mad trying to create copies of the girls. and then ran into rv, scared them then they wanted to help soothe her and gave her the robot head so they always know it’s her if they cross paths again but also to have a happy and never ending fun imagination with them and then went their separate ways

    • @FashionBarbie
      @FashionBarbie 9 місяців тому +2

      @@devynmicheli5314 it was never meant to it it's a basic narrative for the fans to build off of it explains the basic functions and the logic the story world works off. It gives just enough information to allow discussion and for people to develop an understanding from.
      The only reason I wrote a reply was because you implied in your original comment that there was no official lore when in fact there is.
      There's also stuff we know from Concerts but that's way too much to go into here

    Releasing dance practices didn't become a thing until 4th generation/2020's. RV being 3rd Gen (with a lot of 2nd Gen traits) dance practices will be few and far between, and not at all on their earliest videos.

      The music video is clearly inspired by old B-movie horror movies. Do a quick search on b horror movies from the 60s to the 80s.
      Even the twins in the hallway scene was inspired by the shining.
