Arctic ecosystems, snow science, incredible athleticism - this doc is a MUST WATCH! Congrats to Kit, The North Face, 37 Laines and the whole Beyond the Summit team on today's launch. The world needs more of this type of content!!
One thing we don't focus on enough... are the wins for the climate and for our planet. While this feels like a small win, it's still a win to protect one of the most beautiful places on earth. Love the story telling, so well captured & felt super inspired after watching this.
Thank you, North Face for combining the love of sport with the love for the planet. All of us outdoor athletes are very aware of how special our planet is.
One of the most important films of the year for its content and compassion for our future earth. Kudos to North Face for investing in meaningful projects such as this and allowing Kit to tell her story. Amazing!
I drove from Haines to Coldfoot last summer alone. While I never saw the wildlife refuge, I still saw enough of Alaska's wild country to last me a lifetime. Thank you for the work you and your team do.
So much educational value to this video, even if it involves discussion of the contradictions of using trucks and jets to accomplish the measurements obtained. I’m of the opinion that the project has tremendous value and this science is necessary. Much appreciation to all involved. Thank you!
An incredibly inspiring story, and a beautifully made film. It just shows the immense power and influence that is found within a single person, team, and community, when they are guided by passion, purpose, and a healthy dose of defiance.
I’m so great to see dedicated people to do good for our environment. These are the kind of people who I want to be surrounded by. Inspiring team effort. 🔝
This is such a moving and inspiring film that makes me want to up my efforts in our climate battle. Brought me to tears at the end. Amazing work, everyone!
driving around in big trucks, airplanes, skiing 7 continents, wearing the made in china jackets stuffed with feathers from factory farmed animals, eating stuff packed in a 100 plastic bags, living in big houses ... all for nature. BIG THANKS lemmings. thank GOD for C02!
This is spot on lol. Love the hypocrisy from a lot of these people. I don't think any changes will ever be made as long as you have celebrities being hypocrites. Do as I say, not as I do.
you would think the TNF would come up with some light weight sled duffels for this cool expedition! Such a product would help many on there arctic endeavors! ski on
yeah cool video but doesn't 1/2 your clothing and other product lines require said oil they are trying to block to produce them you just get it from different places? facade?
I see your point, I really do. I hear you saying how we complain but are unwilling to let our consumption of oil go. And it's a valid point we all need to address within ourselves. But it's just one side, demand side. This film addresses the supply side. And I must say: CO2 releasing at this level with the destruction of the permafrost = too costly. No drilling here, not worth the expense to the planet and all species
How come, to me at least, it appears that the people who ski down the mountains have a better and safer time going to the summits, than many people have who are only going up and coming down the most common way?
It’s quicker to ski down and decreases the time on the mountain which means there is less of a window for anything to happen. Also, there is an intense amount of planning and preparation that goes into it. They don’t just get to the top and throw their skis on and take off. It takes several weeks to climb these mountains, and then entire time they are checking snow conditions, weather conditions and making sure their route down is as safe as possible. It also helps that most have decades of experience.
I’m a little conflicted, she spent most of her career jetting around to ski mountains and then she became concerned about the environment. I also agree we shouldn’t be drilling there and I do my part to fuel demand as well. Drilling in the arctic is a reaction to American president approval dropping every time gas prices go down. This will be harder to change. The arctic has one thing going for it. Getting oil from there is much more expensive than buying it from the Saudi’s.
Everyone always forgets this type of concern when their lifestyle or wallets are threatened. Look at Europe now, they are opening up nee coal plants and scrambling to drill in their arctic regions.
They are all amazingly talented, athletic people, no doubts there. But y'all VISIT Alaska in your airplane with all your gear made with oil, your gas stoves, etc, to try & stop oil & gas drilling in ANWR. Take a look at why Alaska has the cleanest, most environmentally friendly drilling fields in the world. Look at the wildlife that thrives along the pipeline. Let Alaskans decide how to do our thing. We live here cuz we love it & want to keep our environment beautiful while helping supply oil, gas & jobs to everyone, including Alaskans.
They are at it again and want to build a road that will cut the caribou herd in Gates of the Arctic national forest. SIXTY tribes up there depend on that herd.
Now can we get some of the footage from Jimmy Chin’s Everest ski? There’s no footage available anywhere. There used to be a very short clip online, but it’s been scrubbed.
That's priceless nobody in this uses gasoline ? They travel all over the world in trains, planes and automobiles way more that average people. King Kong carbon footprint here. Hypocrites
Awareness inspires introspection & how you can personally deduce your own footprint. They have the unique skill set and platform to bring this to more people and continue the conversation. Nothing can be perfect, I'll be honest the scene when the plane started up made me feel the hypocrisy too but we can continue sourcing from places that aren't so fragile
@@123-olmngresx godless hypocrites....nah. these people are the closest to any god out there. Mountains, the earth, all represented in many religions as gods. Maybe get out there and get close.
@Marissa North Been there done that. 3 ascents of Denali including a ski descent from the summit when these people were tadpoles. 18 years living in Alaska. Oil is the life blood of all alaska. The whole place is amazing not just the upper right corner. Sad to see outsiders or Cheechakos think they know about what's best for a state they don't live in.
It doesnt count if you dont carry your skis to the summit yourself. Not in my book. There are plenty of clean ski descents from the 8000ers, but this aint one.

Will just lead to more selfish parents leaving their kids behind.

Why does everything in the modern world have to be politicized!
Because politics insert themselves where they should not.
