I watch these test drives exclusively for the faces you pull as the cars pick up speed, Dean. The moment you caught that bump at the end, I lost it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My wifes brother has one of these. Been in it. Cracking performance but the handling in damp is crap. I agree the 4wd audis are unreal ! I have a skoda superb 4x4 and it will not lose traction in wet when proper pushed! And as for the asbo back popping aint for me. Keep it going Dean love the vids .👍🏻👍🏻
Great series, dean. I'm glad you put the little disclaimer at the end saying that it had gone to the MOT centre 😉 Job well done, and I look forward to the next one, bud 👍 😊
Found your channel a year ago and got to say love it. And finally someone who knows how a car should sound. Pops and bangs every time you take your foot off is ridiculous. I understand why people like it.
Car looking amazing. 👌🏼😎 The sound you hear when unlocking the car is the valvetronic module adjusting the vanos. Its broken or need recalibrating. When its not working properly it will not pull as it should on low rpm. Pops and bangs are just in sport and sport+ mode. 😊
I loved this series. Besides being much more of a BMW guy than a VAG one (I just really enjoy your work), I admired all the work put into this one. It was very interesting, specially the carbon roof. Nice work.
Wow really chuffed for you Dean, all that hard work bringing that car back from the dead has really paid off, must be an amazing feeling for you. You’ve got a cracking car there now mate 👍
Another really good video. I do look forward to all the material you put out. Unlike other channels the majority of vehicles you work on are of interest and I also like the fact that you don't invite the big time youtubers to promote the channel. Keep up the good work.
I went from an M135i LCI to a Golf R for exactly the reason you mentioned! - able to have fun in it more of the time.. the M135i had the traction light twitching in 3rd on anything other than bone dry roads.
Matt my sister bought a brand new bmw 330ci what a nice car in silver a beast . it was brilliant ,After a month it made a knocking noise from the rear end when she set off and when she stopped and again when she set off . She wrang BMW they picked it up at 9AM from home and then they brought it back at 4pm all fixed all done miss ,And the nice man said here is your bottle of red whine in the boot for a week .
Great series on this M2, that BMW seat belt / warning beep will drive you mad in the end worse than a type r, was a big factor in my decision to get rid of my last bm
I like your first miles on a Road Test as you listen for loose bolts, missing bits, misfires, whining sounds and did I forget to put that bolt in that was hard work last week?? I’m not sure I would feel to brave in your car…I had a 325i Sport when they were brand new but think it would feel a bit strange now. Good luck painting it all up…then put it through an auction quick!!!😱😱😱😬😬😀😀
Asbo pops sounds ridiculous ?with a smile of your face 😂 looks like it was worth the wait by the look of your face on the second test drive . Really beautiful car
Great video. Glad the M2 is getting there. I agree with you, had a Audi Quattro A4, brilliant in all conditions and I now have a BMW 4 series M Sport, rear wheel drive, and it turns into corners brilliantly and better but mainly in the dry!
Mate that clicking noise from the engine bay when you unlocked it is the vvt motor (variable valve timing motor) either the teeth on the eccentric shaft are worn or the motor is dying. I would advice you to get This checked before it becomes a real problem. When you unlock the car it wakes the motor and spins the eccentric shaft yours is stuck (clicking noise) Had them before like this if you leave it too long the car will not start if the eccentric shaft finishes in the wrong position.
Great stuff Dean, car sounds awesome. Glad the noise was an easy fix. Very brave decision to buy this car, it looked horrific, but your skill and tenacity shone through mate. Fabulous motor 👍🇬🇧
Trust me, you can have fun 100% of the time in a BMW, including in winter here in Norway. Sideways in every roundabout. Love it. Thanks for the video! :D
great job on the rebuild!! The pops in the video sound like its an old diesel trrain going over badly jointed track at 5mph!! They need to be removed!!
I get a Stage 1 tune but a Stage 2 plus is pointless on the road in a RWD. Lets face it that’s why it was crashed. Great work though, loving the channel!
Sounds like your wheel nuts are coming slack. I do have to say, I've only ever driven an M3 and I was well impressed with the chassis. Bloody thing could corner like a go kart!
That ratcheting sound at 2:13 happened to my M4 comp a few times before it threw a load of drivetrain errors & wouldn’t run- turned out to be a valvetronic actuator position sensor failure.
Sounds like it has a bad valvetronic unit from the noise when you unlocked it and first start up, such a weapon of a car and makes me miss my one so much keep up the good work
That must be a handful, my OG M2 is around 410hp and it is a bit sketchy in cold damp weather and when you rev it out. The TC and active diff help but it still likes to step out at times. Really want to get an M2 comp or F80/82 M3/4 next. The S55 is so tuneable.
Hi Saving, thank you for the videos. Please replace that broken wheel (the rear one with panel noise). It's taken a big hit and all parts from wheel in should be sound before driving in that miserable rain and the (to this American) dangerously narrow "B" roads. Please stay alive ;)
Great videos you make. The rattle at unlock car is the valvetronic motor trying to spin the eccentric shaft and not actually going anywhere so if calibrating in scanner (or ista) throws error at least there is a valvetronic motor to replace...worst case the eccentric shaft teeth are too worn and that one will have to be replaced as well :).
The weird noise you got when unlocking it is the valvetronic servomotor. Eventually failed on mine causing a missfire and drivetrain malfuction warning. It was around £350 for the part iirc
Clicking noise on ignition is the valvetronic motor/ shaft, common fault on these if only driven short distances, will only get worse then give drivetrain errors, just replaced mine😢
I reckon the battery moved in the shunt & damaged the cable & the airbag wires. Bit of a strange one, though, because I think it should be mounted so it can't move?
that woodpecker noise @2:12 is the valvetronic motor running past its end stop, crops up on the S55, there are PUMA cases on it, possible no charge for dealer to fix. New valvetronic wiring or motor or shaft.
The car looks incredible. I love your videos and I’ve been rewatching the whole catalogue as I just found your channel. You do some Absolutely amazing work and have inspired me so much into looking at my own car 😅🥰👍🏻
Hi Dean the M2 sounds awesome, the faces you make as you are putting your foot down is hilarious, the M2 series so far has been great just like all your other rebuilds 👍👍
That popping sound though sounds like a boyracer's Fiesta 1.1 with some stupid big bore exhaust on it and filter, i agree with the owner it sounds naff
I watch these test drives exclusively for the faces you pull as the cars pick up speed, Dean. The moment you caught that bump at the end, I lost it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂
😂
I’m an Audi man too but I much prefer rear wheel drive for the fun aspect, good luck with the MOT
@My Cancer Journey I'm praying for you. 🙏🙏
That S3 knew you was behind him. Great content 👍
My wifes brother has one of these. Been in it. Cracking performance but the handling in damp is crap. I agree the 4wd audis are unreal ! Haha had to be done
@@SavingSalvage dodgy geezer...Still not MOT'd
Going to the MOT centre via Scotland 😂 I really like the orange, the whole car would look great in it with the carbon roof etc
@steve williams no one likes a grass.....
@@euanscotland Do you mean 'you don't like a grass' or everyone 'doesn't like a grass'?
Mad that I recognise where you "broke down", glad to see it was something so small in the end!
Found your channel a year ago and got to say love it. And finally someone who knows how a car should sound. Pops and bangs every time you take your foot off is ridiculous. I understand why people like it.
Hi Dean, book the Beemer onto a dyno so we can actually find out how many horses that 6 cylinder is throwing out!
youre right it does sound ridiculous! Why that is possible is beyond comprehension
Well done I'm pleased you've got it fixed proud of you
Wow you have transformed this car and given it another chance to live
Car looking amazing. 👌🏼😎
The sound you hear when unlocking the car is the valvetronic module adjusting the vanos.
Its broken or need recalibrating. When its not working properly it will not pull as it should on low rpm.
Pops and bangs are just in sport and sport+ mode. 😊
I love twitchy driving,it keeps you on it,hate that popping and banging boy racer sound, credit to you with the repair, you done good
OMG, the bellend pops had me in stitches!
Glad the last bit was such an easy fix, as you put a lot of work in, to get it back to where it is now. Really enjoyed this build.
Dean thought it was going to be lifted from those yellow lines so glad you got back and it was still ok cracking job you've done.
John
I loved this series. Besides being much more of a BMW guy than a VAG one (I just really enjoy your work), I admired all the work put into this one. It was very interesting, specially the carbon roof. Nice work.
Great video Dean. Really enjoyed the in view of the drive
Great vid Dean, LOVE your "that's not normal?" comment, I know the feeling :)
Good call on not joining the dual carriageway. 👍🏾👍🏾
Great series! Would like to see it fully it painted and a final cost breakdown.
Wow really chuffed for you Dean, all that hard work bringing that car back from the dead has really paid off, must be an amazing feeling for you. You’ve got a cracking car there now mate 👍
😅😅😅

inviting more famous UA-camrs would help his channel grow so i see that as a good thing, no?
Mint car Dean sounds lovely apart from the pops and bangs it will look lovely when it's been painted
"Mint" ha ha. You misspelled "ming"
@Biddy Boy no I haven't and if I had whats it got to do with you
That sounds phenominal Dean !!
Dude, congratulations! That thing does sound like a beast. And yes, tune out the "burble", it's ridiculous.
The red mist almost descended on you there. Loved the scary face.
I went from an M135i LCI to a Golf R for exactly the reason you mentioned! - able to have fun in it more of the time.. the M135i had the traction light twitching in 3rd on anything other than bone dry roads.
Lovely car now it’s sorted - nice work fella👍🏻

Would love too see dragy times between the RS3 and m2 comp tuned! In the future. Launch, rolling, 100-200 , 0-200 etc. Cheers King Dean!
It started as rubbish and ended up a true gem. Well done Dean. Superb effort. Cheers, Bob
This is the best channel by far really interesting to watch, just saying from North of Newcastle 👍
In the end, smiles by the miles Dean. Rear seats look baggy as hell in the video though.
Great series on this M2, that BMW seat belt / warning beep will drive you mad in the end worse than a type r, was a big factor in my decision to get rid of my last bm
I love that straight 6 on full song 👌
Apart from the pops n bangs that sounds epic
great video Dean the pops are ridiculous
I’m a simple man I see saving salvage I click video I hit like button and watch video I know I’ll enjoy!

Thanks Dean, series was brilliant again,BMW’ s are ok but you can’t beat the real thing 👍
I'd bet a pound to a penny that that's nowhere near 650 bhp. Great work as always though, love your videos.
I’ve got a dyno print out for 630, I just rounded it to 650 😂
@@SavingSalvage I take it all back then! Be interesting to see if there hybrid turbos etc are still there
Nice to see it running down the road under it's own steam Dean
You've done a grand job so far mate
Proper fun cars these. Would love one myself.
It was worth changing the main battery cable as it was damaged anyway, especially the insulation.
Great video. Glad the M2 is getting there. I agree with you, had a Audi Quattro A4, brilliant in all conditions and I now have a BMW 4 series M Sport, rear wheel drive, and it turns into corners brilliantly and better but mainly in the dry!

The boyz in brum would die for that exhaust sound 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🥊🥊🥊🇬🇧🇺🇸🏴🏴👍☝️
Nice job i an happy to see you enjoyed the drive with the cheeky grin and you need to look at the worm gear on the central locking by the sounds of it
Cable damage perhaps by the fire brigade trying to isolate the battery?
great job on the rebuild!! The pops in the video sound like its an old diesel trrain going over badly jointed track at 5mph!! They need to be removed!!
What I remember of my M2 Comp the power is very progressive and rev happy. Seems a little faster than mine which was standard so I think you're good.
Totally agree on the pops. It’s so stupid 🤣
Imagine stage3 tuning your rs3. It’s gonna sound so much better and you got the Quattro 🤤
Great videos and Dean you should put all of the bolts back in.
Love what u do. Keep these videos coming
Really enjoyed watching this , great videos as always, very informative in way you describe the way it handles compared to the Audi.

Yeah mate, not a fan of machine gun burble tunes ether, but you've done an excellent job with this little beastie, Rj in Oz
Sounds like your wheel nuts are coming slack. I do have to say, I've only ever driven an M3 and I was well impressed with the chassis.

was my first thought too when he was moving the wheel
A really interesting rebuild series. I can guarantee you will enjoy driving it in drier weather!😁
I'm surprised you heard anything over that stupid exhaust 🙂.

Just watched the full video where you're opening it up and it sounds FANTASTIC !!
After watching this i want a M car back in life awsome cars wicked build

"It sounds awful" with a smirk.. 🤣😉
Awesome, great job repairing it 👍👍😃😃
Excellent video dean, I've got a vw gti tcr 290bhp not quiet as much as your 650bhp but alot of fun 😊
That clicking when you unlocked the car is the valvetronic motor. My f80 had the same issue.
well job done, sort of .great video as always, big thumbs up buddy .well done
Thanks for the video! Currently hopeful to see more of the porsche though. What are your plans long-term for the M2? Keep or sell?
Parked on double yellows epic Dean 🙏🏻👍🏻😂
Great job Dean and the videos are nothing but great!!!
Smashed it again Dean. Top work
This is a very complex car and that’s your only fault on the first real test drive. You’ve done very well putting this car back together properly 👍

Not a fan of the asbo pops lol but that looked quick at the end and sounded sweet 👌
My mates stock m2 comp didn’t feel quick from the passenger but the Speedo said otherwise 😅
Are u sure u don't like the pops ? Your smiles says otherwise 😅😅.
