    Hi Dean. I have a 2 Audi Allroads with same suspension setup. 55 plate(C5) and 60 plate(C6). These have self levelling suspension so if one corner drops the car compensates by dropping the others. Lift the car to maximum height and put it into jacking mode via the MMI. This will disable self levelling and if you have a leaking airbag, only the faulty corner should drop. As posted earlier, it would also be advisable to replace the air compressor relay with an upgraded version.
    Good luck👍

    TPI for suspension leaks. The orange, purple air lines rub on the chassis and get pin hole leaks. TPI give a part number for new air lines and connection, then you have to re-route the lines away from the chassis.

    This car is my daily driver.
    I too had to change the compressor: I first cheaped out on the refurb kits (to no avail), followed by the 200 quid compressor (repackaged China) from a UK ebay seller, which only lasted me 4 months. I then bought the original OEM WABCO for around 400 euro from Germany. That one is working great, fingers crossed:). I also changed the valve block (just because I wanted to) and two strut valves. Luckily, my bags are not leaking, but I have a guy who can replace the rubber sleeves for 80 euro a pop (no need to buy a new strut). It is also important to change the plastic height sensor linkages because they seize over time; one UK ebay seller sells adjustable linkages made out of metal. Mine were super seized.
    And, don't forget to change the compressor relay; it comes with the new compressor.

    I had this exact same fault with my Q7.
    Turned out I had a slight leak in one of my front airbags which made the compressor overwork blowing the fuse.
    I had the fuse replaced and ran it but ended up frying the compressor a few weeks later.
    Had 2 new front bags and a compressor fitted,problem solved.
    I have a brand new air block for the back of the compressor sat in my garage that wasn’t fitted. If you need it you can have it for the price of postage and a couple of pints😁

    I've been working at a body shop for a bit now and extra tips I learned was if you're painting the door, it's better to take off the mirror and belt molding (the trim at the bottom of the window) for a better paint job in the end. The mirror can get in the way, and if you're unlucky, the clear coat could stick in that gap between the door and the belt molding.

  • @ianpumphrey5041
    @ianpumphrey5041 Рік тому +2

    Hi Dean, a fuse never blows for no reason. The compressor has an NTC sensor (overheat) which inhibits relay coil to shut of power. If the relay is welded shut (on) the NTC ecu control does not work, it then runs the pump forever, vents the overpressure air and burns the compressor out. It will be caused ultimately by a combination of leaks adding to increased demand on pump duty.
    Recently I found leaks around the joints on the front strut top aluminium housings (porus) that was the leaks and the demand. Clue was the car (cayenne-same as q7) was down on its nose in the morning. For what its worth, monitor pressure vs temp vs demand call from the ecu to determine a lazy compressor - it will be at this age, so a decent replacement around 350 quid, easy to fit plus new relay. You need however to fix the leaks. Get so soapy water in a spray bottle, with system pressurised, spray every joint, pipes, tops of air springs etc. Leaks will blow bubbles Dean - cheap and easy. Then fix the leaks...

    I had the exact same symptoms, suspension bottomed out and lights on the dash. It was just the massive 40A fuse. No independents wanted to know because they couldn't diagnose the air system. A month wait for Audi to look at it forced me to Google, and found an obscure american website with one reference to that fuse. Cost me a couple of quid to fix and had years of happy motoring aftwerwards.

    I see you found out that Audi pile on a huge mark-up! Many years ago I worked for a systems supplier to Audi and one day an unhappy member of the general public (owning a C5 A6) managed to find the contact details for my employer and phoned up to try to find out if Audi were ripping him off for some component / system that we manufactured. The receptionist put the call through to me and....yes, I had to tell him (strictly off the record, of course...) that Audi were quoting him approximately seven times the price of what my employer would charge Audi to supply said item. The gentleman's next question was - would it be possible for him to acquire it directly from my employer...? I had to tell him that car manufacturers make their profits by screwing their suppliers in the first instance and then screwing their customers for any spare parts in the second instance. If it had been up to me, I would have given him contact details for our sales division and suggested that they open up a little sideline to bypass Audi on spare parts, but sadly that was far above my pay grade!
    How I (do not) miss the automotive industry....

    So Audi, having proper diagnostics failed to see the fuse was blown?? WTF , that's scandalous there is no way they missed that fault and just wanted to charge £££.

    • @einfelder8262
      @einfelder8262 Рік тому +1

      Wrong. Audi knew the fuse was blown, they knew the pump sounded like an asbestos lung, and they knew all 4 airbags and lines needed replacing and they are required to give their work a sensible warranty, along the lines that the air system would be trouble free for xxxx thousand miles or 1 year. I don't know the UK consumer laws but would be surprised if a dealer could charge to fix something and have it fail a month later without the consumer being protected.

    Going through a similar issue myself. Bmw f11 2012, rear compressor for the airbags, new one off ebay 2 years ago now rusting from the inside out. Now have to buy a genuine one. Steer clear of the ebay rubbish. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Sellers don't reply when there's an issue with the item..

    These VAG prices are getting ridiculous. I just got quoted £180 from TPS for a rear wheel hub and bearing assembly. I ended up buying a good quality pattern item for £50!!

    Older big SUV's may sound tempting for the price but they can be a total money pit. I bought a 2003 X5 3.0D Sport cheap a few years back. Ended up needing an automatic gearbox and a turbo. Not to mention the last owner had snapped all 6 glowplugs when they attempted removal...
