Hey yoyomax12! Firstly, I adore your channel! Secondly, I agree with you. Having to turn on the oven every time to bake takes more time and is more cleanup. This steaming way is much easier :)
OMG!!! you are AMAZING! We just start to do videos for kids (no baking required) and now we want to be like you! WOW just completely in love with your talent. We LOVE japanese food!
i already made this kabocha steamed cake and it's so delicious. i'm not diced the kabocha but i mash the kabocha into the batter. The method of steaming really easy and useful
You should do a kitchen tour! It would be nice to see the different between an America kitchen and yours :D especially any different appliances. But I tried this recipe and I loved it. They came out so fluffy :^)
When you used the kabocha, did you steam it first or use it just as it is? What about sweet potato? Should i steam it or just use it as it is? I want to try this recipe with sweet potato.
Hi Ochikeron! I love your videos and your recipes! :) I have two questions for you about this recipe: 1) What do you mean with cooking oil? Is it okay if I use olive oil or it's better if I use the sunflower seeds oil or something lighter than the olive one? 2) Woult it be okay if I use an ordinary pumpkin? I live in Italy and I'm not sure we have Kabocha here... Anyway, I'm pretty sure that it would be good with fruit too, don't you think? Grazie e tanti auguri! Ciao! ^.^
Kabocha is a type of pumpkin, so I think regular pumpkin would work just fine! Any kind of sweet squash you can get your hands on should work well. Or even sweet potato!
Since this version is more cake-y is it possible to remove the kabucha all together? I'd love to make some with raisins like in an anime I saw called "Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day". ^w^ I love your videos by the way!!!!! I plan on making some of these recipes very soon. Also, could you do some more side dishes for bentos?? I need one with leeks as a main ingredient for a Miku bento.
I was talking to my boyfriend about a cake i made a few days ago...i said i never use the oven and that was my first time, he tell me then that he dont have oven in his house :c, he also joke about this metod of cooking a cake, so...i will show him the vid for sure...thx ochikeron!
hey ochikeron! i luv watching ur videos n tried baking butter cake using ur recipe but there was one problem though.... after the cake finished baking, the cake shrank in the middle. do u know what happened to the cake? P.S i really loved ur videos!!!!XD
Please forgive my ignorance, but is it possible to boil/mash the kabocha first and then put the boiled/mashed kabocha into the cupcake mix? Thank you very much in advance. Take care.
i don't like squashes, pumpkins...what can I do? what else I can use? fruits? will it work with cocoa-powder and I'll get chocolate-muffins? I don't have any oven :/
Can you please tell me what the difference between a Japanese squash and say a butternut squash. I want to make these but I dont have the ability to track down ingredients not readily available in general American grocery markets.
Giulia V raw Kabocha will be cooked after 15 minutes. but of course it depends on the heat (how low) you steam, so just taste one and if you think you need to cook more, just cook more minutes!
Regular grocery stores have it, but it may not necessarily be called Kabocha (" Winter Squash "). Look for a small, round, green squash where the other squash is in produce.
This method for steaming is very useful :)

She has a recipe for regular Steam Cakes on this channel as well.
Did you steam your kabocha before hand? I know it usually doesn't cut that easily...xD How do you make it soft? Steaming it? How long?

Hello! :). Do you think this could be made without eggs?
luzorquidea i haven't tried it... maybe you can try and let me know?! hehe
do u think it will work if i added pumpkin puree into the batter instead?
lwy i think it works~ but you may want to less the sugar if the puree is sweet~
ちょっと気になったのはかぼちゃがどのくらい柔らかくなるでしょう。
かぼちゃはブラジルで人気ですから、ぜひ試したいです!
Rodrygo Tanaka 15
I made this according to the recipe but it end up a little bit hard. Can I ask what's the problem is?
Is it okay to just make it plain?
Excuse me Ochi, the pumpkin has to be all ready cooked or raw?
Giulia V raw Kabocha will be cooked after 15 minutes. but of course it depends on the heat (how low) you steam, so just taste one and if you think you need to cook more, just cook more minutes!

Regular grocery stores have it, but it may not necessarily be called Kabocha (" Winter Squash "). Look for a small, round, green squash where the other squash is in produce.
