I dont get how, great song. If they don't get it they don't get it. I feel like people just hear soft and put it off and ignore the lyrics and story of each song.
ST has a song on their previous album called Fall For Me that is also very polarizing in the fandom. Most people put DYWTYLM and FFM as their least favorite songs on each album. They're two of my favorites in their entire catalog, and I have a feeling you'd really appreciate what I consider to be somewhat of a predecessor to DYWTYLM. Hope you get to check it out
Sad lyrics with joyful melodies always have a special place in music bro, reminds me of Hey Ya from Andre 3000 which Sleep Token covers, It's like going through that sad feeling in a different way, that's art.
This is one of my favorites by them. The lyrics heavily imply that part of the song is being sung into a mirror. So at least partially, the "Do you wish that you loved me?" is being asked to his own reflection. I used to struggle a lot with self love and liking myself, this song is very relatable in that regard.
Apparently a lot of people don't like this song because it sounds so differend, but I'm forever grateful for it. The first time I listened to Sleep Token, I put on The Summoning and it was too hard for my liking at the time and turned it off half way through and put them out of my mind. Then I listened to DYWTYLM when it was released and it reminded me of another song I liked and thought, well, maybe they're not so bad after all. Within 16 months they became my top artist of all time on Spotify; I hardly listen to anything else anymore. They don't have a single bad song. DYWTYLM itself is just so good, it's simple but it cuts so deep.
anyone saying they dont like dywtylm because its so different they really havent paid attention to sleep token they have no signiture sound other than good well written songs everthing they do is different which is what i think is the real reason people hate on them is the emotional and toneal whiplash they get from the album because most bands dont switch that much in an album much less in the song which sleep toklen does it in the songs and the albums but in a great way
There was a moment in listening to this song where it finally clicked what the song meant, and it pulled my heart out in a very personal way. I broke down and cried so hard. Maybe my favorite song on the album
“I was like… no?” That was funny lol Also another song you should listen to is Fall For Me, it’s another one thats sad but sounds so good. ‘The room below’ version just sounds amazing too
I would LOVE to see you react to the entire album Hospice - The Antlers. It's so heartbreakingly beautiful, so specifically crafted to convey the very specific emotions it wants you to feel throughout the album. It's less than an hour long, but I genuinely do not believe you can enjoy this album in pieces. The first time, its gotta be all the way through.
Formally requesting Portishead reactions... but from the albums, not from the Roseland live performance. Or, hell, I guess I'd take reacts to Roseland too. Biscuit, Roads, Numb, Only You to name a few. Far too few Portishead reacts, the world needs you, DonVon.
Idc what anyone says this song is one of my favorite ST songs on any of their albums. A lot of people don’t like it cause of the beat but the lyrics are amazing and emotional
bro new subscriber here. your jinjer reactions brought me here. but you have to check out the band heilung and the song krigsgaldr. please do a reaction for it. you will not be disappointed!
Homie, I’m not gunna lie, it took me getting really h*gh (after months of listening to this album) to realize he was talking to himself in the mirror. Completely changed the song for me. Good job catching it on the first listen.
This may be one song most people don't like but I love that he's talking to himself. It brings the story together ❤
It’s so good, great concept
I dont get how, great song. If they don't get it they don't get it. I feel like people just hear soft and put it off and ignore the lyrics and story of each song.
Idk how people don’t like it. I loved it on first listen
yeah, this one took me a while to get used to, but now I look forward to it in my Sleep Token playlist.
I think the idea of the upbeat song is to signify that he's putting on a happy facade while feeling like shit inside. 😭😭
Sticks and stones may break your bones but vessels words will make you have ptsd flashbacks of your life.

“Smile back….at me” I didn’t like this song at first but it has become one of my favorites from their whole discography.
It's definitely a case of "hurts so good" isn't it? I fully agree that only Vessel could put a happy-sounding beat to such a sad song.
Disgustingly hard!... Lyrically

Illve in the back ground you can hear and sharp inhale and then a breath out in this song. Like gasping for air and letting out the stress.❤❤
