⚠ Important Note Music Usage in This Video: I'm currently working on finding the right balance between using certain tracks and avoiding any content ID issues or copyright strikes. As part of this, I’m breaking the music into smaller chunks to help prevent any problems with the system. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding as I navigate this! 🎶
Usualy Hoyoverse encourages people to use their music (if credited well) and never claim a copyright over it. Sadly there're some companies who try to claim the music, even though they don't have the right to do so. You did a great job here, it's interesting to see a producers perspektive. I loved your video!
I'm surprised how they allow it.. but that makes it easier for us 😊 i was thinking a normal blanket license to creators might be a good solution, but I have yet to know the in's and out's of how the Chinese do copyright, their PROs and licensing. 😅 I also wanted to be careful with content id detection. I tried uploading a different video (my footage of battling with Raiden shogun) to another private YT account to test the content ID system. And they detected the track because someone else on YT had a cover of Raiden's battle track. 😅 but anyway, THANK YOU FOR WATCHING 🩵
Better than a lot of certain companies in Japan that decide music is justification to send you to dottore's house despite credits being given in the description.
@@Melomuei mean the more you use their music, the wider the music spread. The more video used their music, people who don’t play may asked what bgm that it. Hence the introduction to the game.
YEEEES MORE OF THIS PLEASE!!! not a musician or anything but proud top 0,5% listener of hoyomix since 4 years now! i play genshin and hsr mostly for the lore but the incredible music is what really is making me come back to those games over and over and over again. they create such incredible atmosphere. my mom knows nothingabout video games but she LOVES all the genshin tracks i showed her and even went to 2 of the genshin concerts with me - she was speechless!
Natlan has such an a massive use of motifs. Like 2 masters of the night-wind themes in Citlali's teaser and story cutscene, the use of battle theme motifs in many, many epic moments, and of course the main melody as the national anthem and in 2 of the peak moments.
@ Characters from every other region except Natlan all incorporate soundscapes from their cultural inspirations that blend masterfully well with modern musical styles. Every single OST from Natlan's character trailers have been extremely disappointing - a stark contrast between Natlan's absolutely incredible in-game soundtrack.
I love how Hoyo-mix uses the instrumentation to reflect the environment, not only in the regional sense but also time of day and even topography. There is so much care and thought put into each and every track. Thanks for the video - I have so much more to think about now when listening!!
Couldn't agree more! Every time I hear Genshin's music, I always feel like they have a whole army of people working on the music lol. I also agree that they definitely put a whole lot of thought into these tracks! Thanks for watching! 😊
As someone who repeatedly watched Shenhe's demo before her debut, hearing her leitmotif play during her cutscene is one of my most favorite moments in any videogame i've played
Thank you so much for your insights. In 4 and a half years I never made the connection that all the battle themes actually share a motif. To others this might be obvious but you kinda blew my mind a little when you played them all consecutively.
This is such an interesting analysis. I'm not an expert but I just love listening to Hoyomix's music ever since I started playing Genshin. I'm actually glad they added the new Rhythmn Game coz it was so fun. I do hope to see your compositions in the game too in this new game mode. I am looking forward to see more music reactions from you especially Lyney's and Furina's they're my fave themes and I love doing them in the new rhythm game. Their themes have a certain vibe that I like. I can't explain it well but I just like how upbeat they are.
Thank you so much for watching! I'll definitely consider Lyney's and Furina's. 😊 did you mean a reaction or a more thorough analysis like this video? I think my reactions are more like first impressions ✨
Hoyoverse usally dont give copyright strike their music, But there are 2 songs that you might get strike ( furina character demo music and her character story music). The strike is not by hoyo but from some 3rd party or something.
I remember is own by Tencent music. But mihoyo don't have any corporation with Tencent making furina music. More like is stealing hoyo music. Just hope hoyo can fix this issue.
@ hmm it might be more than just "ownership" issues.. i bet it's a lot more complicated. 😅 in the case for YT CCs, a sync license & master agreement are needed to use the tracks and that's something miHoyo/HoYoverse can give. But i'm not quite sure how that would work considering the music is made in China, and the licensing/copyright laws could be a little different.. there is a lot at play. I also doubt that this issue will be fixed anytime soon, 'cause they recently had a mass layoff. And that includes some of the content partnership managers -- the ones handling the HoYoCreators. 😅 there is supposed to be someone who is in charge of the music CCs. But ohwell, I can only do my best to manage this situation as I uploaded videos. 😊
another detail about Hanchirusato theme and playing around Ayaka related scenes and zones. its that the character Hanachirusato also has relation to those places and the kitsune mask. So the themes work to both as an Ayaka and Hanachirusato representation
Hey, I loved the video and your insight on it! One thing I'd like to point out that I found particularly interesting is how the instrumentation often reflects the setting. Overworld music tends use exclusively real instrumentation, while specific boss fights (Like the narwhal fight) will use almost exclusively synth sounds to emphasize the otherworldly nature of it. This makes boss fights with mixed synth and orchestral sounds, which only the Fatui bosses and Ei's fight have, really interesting lore-wise, especially when even the Abyssal manifestation doesn't feature synths! I'd love to hear your thoughts on this in a future video :D
That's a pretty good observation! I'll check that out too and take note of this as a possible topic in the future. 😊 I'm a synth head so I love talking about synths too! ✨🩵 Thank you for watching the video!!!
As a musician (violist) and gamer myself, I loved this video! You could totally do shorter videos to break down certain themes. Like you could do one on region or a character in the regions. There's so much to dive into with the music. I'm interested to hear another musicians take on it. My favorite theory is that the Monstadt battle song "Rite of Battle" is a nod to Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring."
Love the video! Very interesting, music is such a complex language and has such a huge impact on perception it'll never not be intriguing to hear an expert's thoughts on it.
That anthem of savannah, it feels familiar, turns out the same motif as photon of fluctuation.. thanks for the analysis. Also, now I feel barbara's singing is similar to the leitmotif..
during ayaka's part, I couldn't help but think of chinju forests' 'murmuring creeks'. It sounds a lot like ayaka's leitmotif but rearranged in a way to make it sound a lot more creepy? im not entirely sure how to describe it. amazing analysis, it really opened my eyes to a lot of different aspects to genshin's music. I didn't know prismatic proverbs had the photon of fluctuation motif despite me listening to that song a lot. The more you know :D
In the CN community, we tend to call Hoyo the music company that got misled into making games Like you can complain anything else in Genshin except it’s music (I mean you still shouldn’t complain and just appreciate and enjoy the game)
@ Same. I joined Genshin after i heard Devastation and Redemption, it’s so close to my heritage and i just loved it so much. Each character demo theme is also a main factor for my pulls too 👍
@ while I may not have the same heritage, I do remember being emotional and having goosebumps with that track! Did you pull for Yunjin because of this too? I got her at C6 and made her a DPS hahaha
Honestly, at least in my opinion, Genshin's music is just okay (probably because I have high expectations of it in a videogame after being an Undertale, Deltarune, Sonic, Ace Attorney, Minecraft, Geometry dash fan all at the same time tho)
By the way, the music for Ayaka’s dance is originally a Chinese song composed by Yu Peng Chen. HYV bought it and it became the music for Ayaka’s dance.
I feel like you aren't comfortable reading (or editing) your script. The voice has weird cadence and accenting, and it's like either you scribbled it down and are reading it for the first time or are having trouble following what you wrote. Could also use a little bit of light editing imho. No offense meant -- just trying to point out some criticism for future consideration. I feel like you could have a lot to say on the game's music and I'd love to hear that, but parts of this video felt like a middle schooler reading a book report.

Epik
I sometimes feel bad for Ayaka for no reason coz no one is letting the "wet sock" situation slide 😂.
But I actually love the cut scene a lot
genshin's music are great in YPC era, then after that, it's slowly getting generic and uncatchy, now in natlan it's kinda hit or miss to my taste
The game hit rock bottom after a climax of similar magnitude of Mount Everest, yet the music still soars through the heavens.💀
