👍👍 thanks a lot! I have this problem on my XKE Jaguar it had no reverse and neutral was acting like a drive. Then it broke free and just did it again. Took out the valve block cleaned it and nothing. Now I’m going to drop it and to a full rebuild it’s a bw12 three speed.
Oh man. My 2005 Buick LaCrosse was driving fine. Stopped from going 30 at a light and never took off normal again. It’s driving forward in ALL gears but not fast. Almost like it’s in 4th ear and struggles to move BADLY until it’s past 40mph. I had to limp it home because I cant afford a tow (ran 5 red lights😂)
I'm having a similar issue with my 2010 Final Edition Volkswagen Beetle. I was backing out of a parking space and thought i had cleared the curb. Put the car in drive and hit the curb and put a hole in the transmission pan. Had it towed to the shop and had the pan replaced. It drove fine the first day. The next day i tried to back out of the garage and reverse wasn't working. I went back to park then back to reverse again and it worked. No more issues that day but every morning after the car sat all night, i would have that issue once and then it would be good for the rest of the day. Now all of the gears are lit up as if they're all engaged. Park works fine, My reverse is Neutral, and every other gear is drive, including Neutral.
Pulling forward in neutral means the FORWARD GEARS ARE WELDED TOGETHER. THE TRANSMISSION MUST BE DROPPED AND THE SEALS AND CLUTCHES AND STEELS REPLACED.. SAME HAPPENED IN MY PT CRUISER WITH ALOT OF BILLET PARTS AND SHIFT KITS
got a '67 tbird that just did this to me. At least im assuming this is the issue. I have only drive, it wants to go forward no matter what gear (except R). Prior to this issue, I had to wait awhile before I could put it in drive. If I tried any sooner it wouldn't move for a min, like it took forever to engage. Had R just fine and dandy. Only in D did it occur. Its a c6 auto transmission.
@@la.dn4 If it starts in neutral that means it's lined up with park. If it goes forward in neutral and the gear linkage is correct. SOME CLUTCHES AND STEELS ARE WELDED TOGETHER THE TRANSMISSION MUST BE REBUILT WITH HARD PARTS TOO..
@@la.dn4 When you lose reverse you the transmission has to be dropped also. Same thing happened to me and I just rebuilt my transmission. Get good raybestos goz blue plate clutches or hi energy Borg Warner. Get steels. A seal kit. A Transgo kit. A bigger transmission cooler. A billet torque converter too. And get sonnax kits too and get that rebuilt and drive
so my truck does this but it’s not nearly as bad, when in neutral it barely wants to move forward if I rev it up it will like loosen up and will be normal, and when in reverse it will backup if I give it quite a bit of gas and then if I put it in neutral rev it up a little bit put it back in reverse and it’ll roll back like it normally should
I have this exact issue with a 00' Toyota Tundra A340E. It has 349k miles. Another symptom which I have never seen, it shoots transmission fluid out of the dipstick tube? I pulled the pan, and everything looked fairly good for the milage. No chunks just normal fine metal on the magnets. I replaced the 3 shift solenoids, new filter and I could only get 3 quarts in it? It didn't change anything, I'm sure you are correct on the clutches being fused. Great video, thank you.
@@michaeloviedo2488 was able to slowly get it filled, and the vent is in a unreachable place without lowering the transmission. It was overfilled and using the dipstick tube to push out excess fluid. But as another video suggested, just drive it, and it drives fine in drive. The problem is every gear is drive. Even park and neutral. It not a primary vehicle anymore, bought a newer 2018 4Runner and It's still gets used when something needs to be picked up or hauled. We just have to plan parking, and shut it off to get it to roll backwards if needed on a hill.
Im having the exact same issue. the car was giving me problems going into reverse and drive it would take a while to actually catch but always eventually would. After I drive around all day it would be fine it would go into reverse and drive no problem, then it started jumping when I come to a complete stop and press the gas It would go and throw me forward and change gears all the same time. So today I got the idea maybe its low on transmission fluid so i take it to auto zone and check the dip stick while the car is hot and running. It wasint showing me any liquid at all on the dip stick, So i bought a quart and put half in there. After doing that I lost my reverse completely. Then my neutral goes forward now. another thing is while in park with foot down on the gas pedal all the way it would only go up to about 2 RPMS, and same as reverse only going up to 2rpms but car not moving at all. So I added 2 more quartz to see if that would help so 3 in total. It did not lol. So I put it into neutral with the car off and pushed it back out of the parking spot and put it in drive and it drove great , no slipping or jerking at all and it would go over 3 rpms and then switch gears on its own. So in drive it works great , but now I have no reverse and my neutral goes forward. this sucks..
@@codemansauto208 How long can I drive a my 2006 gs430 like this. It's identical to this no reverse, forward in all gears and only revs to 2k in Park. In drive it works perfect besides and a harsh downshift into first. Can a transmission a few months like this before it dies. I need more time to save for a new transmission.
if your stuck in forward then your forward clutches may not be releasing and there for the reverse may be working but cant move backwards because the forward clutch wont release so you will probably need to replace your forward clutches

I had a 2008 impala that did the same thing. Lost reverse moved forward in all gears. And struggled to move till about 40 mph

My Acura tl drives in neutral and I can’t reverse it. Do I need a new transmission or is it something else

sorry to hear you are having this issue but it sounds like you may have clutches burnt together

Hello there I have a 7.3 engine the transmission. It got stuck in forward and not reverse. What part to get to fix this problem?
if your stuck in forward then your forward clutches may not be releasing and there for the reverse may be working but cant move backwards because the forward clutch wont release so you will probably need to replace your forward clutches
