Harbor Freight Doyle Professional Forged Wire Strippers Review

- 64868, these are Harbor Freights new heavy-duty forged & ground hot riveted professional electricians wire strippers. They actually seem like a decent product for the price. . .
Just an FYI about the crimper. It is only for crimping ground sleeves. It is not designed to crimp insulated terminals. The pliers are designed for an electrician doing install work to have one plier to strip wire, twist wire, crimp ground sleeves and close loops on screw terminals instead of needing a stripper, linesmans pliers, needle nose plies and a ground sleeve crimper. The crimper works perfect for what it is designed for.
I know Im kind of off topic but does anyone know of a good place to stream new tv shows online?

Don’t know if they are still popular, but when I twisted at too many wires a day, we used a “chimp sleeve” on the ground side , which the included position on your pliers I believe is provided for. Currently have two pairs that are only crimpers, with cutting tips. Use all the time.
I don’t need these. Going get them next weekend.
Just bought these and used them today, they worked fine, good video thanks for the info got mine for $16.99 with coupon and a free tape measure!
Just got myself the forged electrical pliers from Knipex. Think I'm set.
I like them. It will be a hard call when I finally wreck my Milwaukee pair: they have a kind of interesting file/grinding surface on the outer edge that I've used to waller open holes and other things but the Doyles are slim and sexy. Absolute must, though; having a forged pair. Faster and better results.
I've been using the same pair of small, light, simple Miller 100 strippers for 45+ years with no problems -- and its scissor-action cutter works well for all but the very thinnest stranded wire, so I rarely have to resort to a diagonal cutter or a linesman's pliers for that job. I can't imagine switching to a big, heavy tool like this thing after decades of trouble-free wire stripping and cutting with something so much more practical.
Nice review. Looks like a nice pair. Your tip on going to the next larger size to pull the insulation was the best part!
I just find so much stuff I never knew existed on this channel 😮
Thanks for the review on those Doyle pliers. They look decent, and I believe you can use 20% off coupons with the Doyle line.
What's the tool you used to open the package????
That's what I want to know! lol
@@AxxinTheSupernovaisa skill saw . value under 30 dollars at hardware store
@@AxxinTheSupernova I got one at Harbor freight made by warrior. It works great.
You really know a lot about tools. I always learn something new from your videos.
I just got those pliers and they work great for what they are and money spent. I have the Milwaukee pliers version and these pliers work as good as the Milwaukee pliers and Kleins. I also have southwire version, hart version, kobalt version and Kleins version to. I admit that I am a fan of multipliers and I have husky version as well . Good video and good pliers.
Just bought a pair of these yesterday. Haven't taken them out of the packaging yet and just noticed they are very loose at the joint. Think I'll be taking these back for another pair, based on how tight yours are. Nice review, btw!
They’re a coupon for these right now for $16.99. It was in the book that got mailed out and is good until the end of January. That is, of course, if you can find them. I finally got some today, but been looking for them for a month. HF can’t keep them in stock.
Great fid! They look to be very stiff though. Also, next time you might consider cutting a couple of the appropriate sized screws with them. That is a common task for pro's. and it would be nice to know how they perform. And I believe that crimper at the bottom is only really for ground clamp sleeves.
Yup. As specific as the two screw cutters. Good eye; I was waiting for the coffee to tell me what you did.
I have these and use the crimper for spade connectors daily and they work great.
HF is really stepping up. Great review.
I think all the China/Taiwan things are getting better. I just bought a Chinese electric guitar off Amazon, called FireFly 338. I can't believe how damn well it's built and the finish is flawless. Chinese/Taiwanese learned they had better step up their game, or they were gonna screw themselves
If this wire striper was spring loaded like the others , I would consider to buy this tool.
I just got a version from husky and they work great for what they are. I am game to try those . I have both versions of Milwaukees and those look close enough to the Milwaukees version so do the husky version. They work great for what they are all of them. Even channellocks version. And as always great video and videos you post fellow handyman.
I don't see these advertised anymore. Were they discontinued
I bought the Milwaukee style of these and they couldn’t cut anything for me. Maybe it’s me or I got a defective pair. Then I got the Klein forged pliers and they are super sharp. I’m still not sold on Doyle hand tools. Great review Cactus
catus what is this tool you use called that cuts thru the plastic package and opens it up i got to get me some... love you reviews
The tool he's using is a power cutter you can go to Walmart and get the Worx Zipsnip for $32.67 and it will cut plastic and carboard
@@stanleymcman9422 hey much appreciated no more getting cut on that plastic....
@@jefffloyd6561 your welcome
@@stanleymcman9422 - thank you!
Just bought the Milwaukee. These seem to be a better tool.
Milwaukee made in China. Doyle made in Taiwan.
When I replace my POS Klein tool gonna pick up these.
Many of your criticisms of the Doyle holds true for the Milwaukee as well.
Always great content.
If they had a better crimper they would be an instant buy. I use mine for automotive so i need the crimper. But they are good looking.
That exactly what I was concerned about, thanks for the info
Pretty decent tool and i have to say good job on your review.
They could have put a hole in the jaw for bending wire into a loop for putting on an outlet. Using the end gripper to do the bend often does not give the proper radius to fit. Most other electrician pliers think of that.
Love your videos, I like that u have a good variety tools..
Good video. Nice set of pliers strippers and cutters but they do fall short with the crimper. They should have done a little better than that.
Thank you for this as I'm in the market for a new pair of wire strippers
@catus maximus are they electrically insulated?
You can use the 20% off on Doyle. It’s not a restricted brand as of rn.
I looked at both in store, and bought the Milwaukee set.
Where you get that package cutter
I'll stick to my small ideal or klein strippers. They've worked fine for 20 years without the additional weight that this Doyle would bring to my pouch.
so are the milwaukee spring loaded or not?
I guess they discontinued these because I can't find them anywhere.
Hi Catus , Another Well Done Review . For Auto Electrical Wire 16-22 gauge the Pittsburgh Wire Strippers Are Cheap and Very Good .
What is your opinion on them not having a spring to hold them open? Do you prefer spring?
I personally do not like the spring loaded strippers. They are harder to store in a toolbox organizer and they will sometimes slide up and out of a leather pouch.
I had a job interview for a well known wireless technology firm turns out I didnt need them but who was to know ???
I'd buy any of the Doyles next time I need a tool.
They really do look very much like their Milwaukee counterpart
Can you tell me what package opener you using
Hello again Catus Maximus
You have a Great Video as far as the video goes, but no sound?
Snap on has a small pair that are far more Superior the cramps should always be at the front
Yeah, I had a pair of Snap On's, MAC's and Cornwell. Excellent Crimper/strippers..
I literally just bought the Milwaukee version of this this past week from Home Depot. Wanna say 24 dollars.
Same. Stopped at HF after and, I seen the Doyle version was identical. I'm not mad though, I only paid a couple bucks more like you said, $24.
I did end up buying the Doyle Auto Strippers too though. Now I have both.
Thanks for sharing this informative video
Threse are DOILE 5 star Quality made in Taiwan $25 bucks..the other doile are less quality 4 stars
I still prefer the Irwin dedicated wire strippers
These are great wire strippers
I need a pair that can strip 24 awg
I recommend Klein 1019 very versatile and very comfortable.
🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣Klein tools ..............But I would try them did look like they would do the work👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼
Your dreaming, made by Milwaukee, Milwaukee tools have not been made by milwaukee for atleast 15 years!
Klein is going down hill to I think
Haha nothing makes me madder than making a nice cut and you still break a couple strands lol
Use the correct gauge hole.
Earl Lizardi no shit
For $22 get the Milwaukee version for $24
Why?
Nice video!
Made in Taiwan and forged, I'd buy those for 22 beans. Made on the mainland, not worth a fiver
Recalitrant-who woulda thunk!
$22?!?!? Milwaukee is $24. Much better
anything you buy for tools they are warranty forever
The Milwaukee pair is $4 cheaper. Why buy this crap? Lol
Real electricians do not use wire strippers like your showing in this video!
That's funny.... I'm a real electrician, and I use wire strippers like these (mine are the Kleins), and all of the electricians I know also use these.
@@marcusfreeman2512; Marcus, there better, faster, and smaller tools that don't take up as much space in your tool pouch. I guess if you were doing a lot of light gauge wire they are useful however, their is still is a danger of loosing some stranded conductors and ringing solid conductors that will evently break someday. I guss to each his own. Sorry
David Schwartz then what do we use?
If your referring to using a linesmen like the old school electricians use then just know it was not built to strip wire. Too much pressure and you will damage the conductor and a real electrician does everything to protect the conductors and using a job specific tool like wire stripper is what should be done.
Have you ever head of a knife smartypants
damn bro are you collecting wire cutters & copying AvE much, jeez..
AvE created the market for package openers. HF has some pretty tough packing.
I like strippers
2 leg kind ? 😂🤣😂🤣
@@johnlieske8908 1 leg kind
AvE ripoff- lol
Good video!
