Taking the expedition out of the equation, all the others did very well at capturing the gold. I did find that if you did not have the flow right then you typically blew out the larger, flatter gold and almost all the small stuff was caught. I would refer you to the green mountain gold trap page and check out his videos on that. I think he talks about mesh size and what you can expect to catch with it. They all performed pretty equally in my opinion.
liked the video thanks. as for fingers getting cold instead of the way it is just drill a hole in sluice and removable tray and use a stainless pin easy to make way quicker
So you're searching in Vermont. I have the smaller Recon model, not the Expedition. To use a sluice of this size, you need to obtain and pay for an annual permit for sluicing in Vermont streams??
In order to legally operate a sluice in Vermont you must have landowner permission and a permit. Sluices are not allowed on state land. The permit is only good for a short period of time and specific to one small area on the brook you are in.
From using Joe's ( gmgt) last weekend with him that he had it set up for me it was tiped down more to the flow off end . Not really any rock I put on to it stayed . It needs a good amount of water for running for it best proformence ,the water needs to flow in that to part after the metal mesh right to the top of the wall. I did well with it and had a great day out with Joe . But yes you need to tip it down a bit more and more water will help remove them rocks . I'm on a vid with Joe showing my cleanout so plz go have a look see it is one befor the latest one with a give away . I will be buying my self one in the near future.
Thanks for watching! I have only met Joe once and I bet it would be difficult to not have a great day with him. I was more concerned with trying to keep things like the flow as equal as I could. Because of the depth of the reaper I was limited as to how much pitch I could give it without digging out some rocks and doing a bunch of extra work to get set up. I am going to do a part 3 on this and will be going into more detail about how I set these up and why they both have their place in my arsenal of equipment. I have not filmed it yet but stay tuned.
I hope to be back up with him soon but work and whether is key . I'm right out side of Bennington in n.y so we both know time is about up for water play . I got a great schooling from joe and plan on using it well . I spend a good amount of time in v.t either riding my bike or my 4x4 and found a lot of good places and bad places , but with my magnetic probe I got from joe is going to up my game ten fold , so this spring out on the back roads or the very deep back roads / 4x4 trails i will be very busy. . Good vid look forward to the next
@@802OutdoorAdventures ~Your welcome, yes the Grizzly Gold Trap fluid bed stopped production for a while, now they started back up again. Yes check them out. I would like to compare them to Green Mountain and Dogtown Gold Reaper to see which one is the best.
You are correct Scott. All GMGT's off the line today are made from Pollycarbonate. Wish you let me know you were going to do this. You really had me cringing bud! Yes, the GMGT's work well in low pressure however, they work just as well in high pressure. But with any fluid bed, you need to slow down your feed rate and let it do it's job. Overloading the capture tray with any of them will result in gold losses. One day we should link up, providing I can find the time. Would love to 1- dig with you and 2- give you a total rundown of all my discoveries based on my design. I guarantee you will begin taking home more gold each time you go out regardless of what fluid bed you use.
I would love to get together. Always want to learn more. I plan on doing another VS video. This time it will be a little more planned out. I will wait until after we get together so I know really know how to run it.
@@Miley_00 Yes but any tailings have to not go back into any body of water. This is why an instream sluice is illegal as it is in the stream of water itself.
You could definitely put a small amount of low profile ribbed matting in front for prospecting purposes, I doubt it would change the dynamics:) Great video by the way!
Looks like you don`t have it at the right angel and water flow , just my opinion on the video you did on both of the sluice boxes. You got the weight mixed up on the expedition with the recon is 2 pounds and the expedition is 4 pounds on the snake river products . I have yet to use a sluice box and set one up for use
With sluice boxes, which includes the Bazookah (Title of invention sluice), The Gold Reaper, Both the Expedition & Recon, the Grizzly Gold Trap technically yes. When I filed the patent for GMGT the title of invention is (Fluid Bed Classifier) not a sluice. The legal definition of a sluice is, Something that has riffles, Something that has a gate to control water flow & Something that is long as in 100's of feet. But if you ask me, the laws are totally ridiculous. That's why I did what I did to get around it all.
Watching them in action is good stuff when pondering a purchase, thanks for your opinion too
Thanks for watching. I am glad I could help.
How well does it capture ulta fine gold 100 mesh

Go reaper!! I am with you on that brother! I like the long length videos! Keep them coming!

The Grizzly Gold Trap fluid bed sluice is now being made again, posted this on: May 28, 2022.

Links to each would be very nice, I very much liked the comparison! Well done, now off the see #1!
Thank you for noticing I don't have links. I will correct that.
I’m watching the first one, are you going to switch around and compare number 3 and 4 to 1 and 2? I’m a novice so this is very interesting!
@@mary-ruthflores4107 I had not thought of that but It is a good idea. I just might do that soon. Thanks for the feedback.
Loved it m8. Not tried a fluid bed sluice yet, was very interesting to hear you found it worked well in low flow conditions. Cheers, HnC

@@802OutdoorAdventures Very cool. Wish we could ban winter!! Maybe start a petition er somethin🤣
I wish instream sluices were legal in BC Canada. They would be so convenient.
If you don't mind me asking. Where in the world are you located?
So can you use a high banker?

Thanks. I have not set any time aside to experiment with matting. I don't see why it wouldn't work.
should put a pan at over flow to see if u lose any gold more water flow on gmgt great job on videos they all seem to get gold
oh ya the winner issss you and me and all the gold getters out there

quick question, do you need a permit for using the fluid bed?
Doesn’t that depend on where you are?
Can I plead the fifth on this question?
