  • Sorry for the long video, it was hard to edit all the info down to anything shorter. On this trip I compared my Bazooka Prospector with my Grizzly Explorer. I hope this helps anyone that may want to see a comparison of the two! I had a great day out on the river and got some gold! Thanks for watching!

    1. DON'T USE SILICONE for your repair. Silicone won't stick to that plastic as well as the right stuff will. Those sluices are made of ABS, the same material as black plumbing pipe. Go to Home Depot or someplace similar and buy a small can of ABS cement - NOT the cement that will glue several different kinds of pipe (eg. white pipe and black both). This cement is actually dissolved ABS so when it dries it BECOMES ABS - like adding another layer of plastic! Open the joint and let goo fill the cracks and then you can build up a thicker joint like you would with silicone from a tube. It'll make the box a LOT sturdier.
    2. Where did you get the leg brackets? That's neat.
    3. Where did you get those gloves? I'd LOVE to have a pair of those!

      Thanks for the tip! The leg brackets came with some of my Gold Hog equipment. The gloves are called shoulder gauntlets, you can google them. They have some on Amazon, I can’t remember exactly where I got mine.

    1.31g.. very nice weight for one person on a day trip. That's hard work. Excellent job. I very much love the under flow tech as well.

    Thank you for the information on the sluices. I also have been looking at the Green Mountain Gold Trap.

      The Green Mountain Gold Trap looks amazing. It’s a little expensive, but it’s a get what you pay for kind of thing. The quality looks great, a lot of craftsmanship goes into them.

    Thank you so much for such a through comparison of the Bazooka Gold Trap (GT) Prospector with the Grizzly GT Explorer. Very well done. I like my Bazooka GT sluices but was considering a Grizzly GT. I did not realize the Grizzly Explorer was that much lighter duty than the Bazooka. I agree with the comment by James Voorhies. Rather than using silicone to seal the separated deck and sides of the Grizzly GT, would suggest considering using ABS cement to weld it and maybe with another small strip of ABS to strengthen the joint. While I have fed a Bazooka Prospector (gently) with a shovel, it sounds like the Grizzly Explorer might not hold up to that.
    You found that the over all recovery of gold was essentially identical. Both of these fluid bed sluices do a great job recovering fine to coarse gold, but the issue is the really fine gold, where the longer trap and potentially lower angle of the trap in the Grizzly GT might be better. So the question is what did you use to recover the really fine gold from the concentrate? and can you recover -50, -100, -200 if your running them as flat as you can to feed the gravel through? Once again great video! Thank you

    • @libertymining5728
      @libertymining5728  3 роки тому +1

      I have definitely recovered -200 in both, but I will say the GGT recovers more of it. I think it’s because of the flatter trap, more jets per size of trap. A lot gets trapped in the riffles too. I dump buckets and toss shovel fulls on the BGT, but wouldn’t on the GGT.

    • @Dancencamp
      @Dancencamp 3 роки тому +1

      @@libertymining5728 Thank you, just as I thought. I fully agree that these fluid bed sluices are better than conventional riffle type sluices. Since running the sluice as flat as possible is likely key to improving recovery of -100 and -200, I wonder if it would help to lightly sand down the texture on a portion of the deck of the BGT upstream of the trap so that it is a little slicker. Although it would make it harder to see if you were getting gold, the gravel might feed through a little better when the sluice is flatter. Has anyone tried that?

    • @libertymining5728
      @libertymining5728  3 роки тому

      Sounds like that might work, though I haven’t heard of anyone trying it. The green mountain gold trap is made with acrylic, so it might be smoother.

    actually that was perfect...watched, and skipped many of these videos, as not very engaging, but somehow you pulled it off...i made it to the end, and was interested the whole time...broke it up with some spots, some scoops, kept rythym well, and who can beat natural water sounds, not voice cancelling music...and actually a good analysis...keep up the good work...

    I just recently found your videos and they are very informative. I've been considering the GGT or the Gold Hog stream sluice. I'm concerned about water flow with the Grizzly gold trap. In Colorado after spring run off the water flow in the small steam on my claim can make it difficult to set up a stream sluice. Have you used the Gold Hog stream sluice. I feel like low water flow would work better with the Gold Hog but i would have to classify. With the GH but not the GGT. I could also back up my keene High banker with the Gold Hog but couldn't use it with the Grizzly Gold Trap. Any thoughts about this? Thanks!

      This an old video but I own a gold hog stream sluice and you need alot of flow for it to work properly it comes with a low flow mat as well as the high flow but u need a good ripping flow not deep but fast and a little drop in the creek helps also you dont need to classify at all. Im sure by now u watched a few videos of it. The gold hog stream sluice is a beast if u have the right flow and conditions.

    If you want to build the Bazooka 36" and the Mini yourself I got one when they where still available and took all the measurements and put it into CAD. Here are the drawings and PDFs: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1yZvsyZtlHrKdEB-4-LsT8I693du6piQ6?usp=sharing
