    Just to add to how much we love hockey, whenever there's a big hockey game going on, at school the teachers pull us out of class to watch a game live in an assembly

    • @lilpwnige
      @lilpwnige 8 років тому +4

      It varies, depending on the specific game. It's widely spread across the country during the Winter Olympics when Team Canada is competing for Gold or Bronze game in both Men's and Women's hockey. It also happens rarely when an NHL Playoff game is scheduled during school hours, and only when that game has the local team competing in it or is a deciding game for the Stanley Cup.
      It's also worth noting that it's not compulsory for schools to do this. It very much boils down to the specific school and who's in charge of it (and how much they like hockey). However most schools have decided its a good idea because it reduces the chance of students skipping a full day of classes to stay home and watch the game.

    • @redcitadel8354
      @redcitadel8354 8 років тому

      Very widespread, at least in Nova Scotia. When the Stanley Cup comes on we are all there to watch the final game!

    Today is Canada Day. In my town, we had a Canada Day Parade where locals wear red and white and walk the streets. Lots of young children took part in this parade. Now on one corner, a group of people were burning a Canadian flag as a warning. Just the respect we get for helping them and giving them places to live!

    I'm actually Welsh but I'm watching this bc I love Canada and would at least like to visit someday. Anyway, I noticed you mentioned Canadian geese, we have those in my town too! :) They live in the moat around our castle. My stepmum works at the castle and she said they emigrated generations ago and wouldnt leave and had babies so now we have Welsh Canadian geese haha

    Wanna know a cool fact about the CN Tower? When it lights up at night, all the lights are small images! I love living in Toronto! :D

    I'm glad you mentioned Jig's Dinner. Too bad there were no Newfoundland Fairies in the superstitions

    The "labrador huskie"? Seems like an odd choice to mention when the labrador retriever itself originated in Canada. Developed in Newfoundland and named for the Labrador Sea.

    Ketchup chips are available in the US. Herr's is one brand that makes them. Don't know why people are convinced this flavor is only north of the border.

    Oh Canada,
    Our home and native land,
    True patriot love,
    In all thy sans command,
    With glowing hearts,
    We see thee rise,
    The true north strong and free,
    From far and wide,
    Oh Canada,
    We stand on guard for thee,
    God keep our land,
    Glorious and free,
    Oh Canada, we stand on guard for thee!
    Oh Canada, we stand on guard for thee!

    Seriously where are you getting your info from? I'm surprised you didn't include that we all live in *igloos* too! And OMFG the superstitions are ridiculous! I'm born and breed true Albertan and in 40 years I've *_never_* heard of the berry picking thing.

    I'm sorry, but as a Canadian I have to point out that the CN Tower is not the largest freestanding structure in the world that title was lost a few years ago.
