Natalie wood lived and passed away before my time, yet I've found myself drawn to her and her story. I think its very interesting that Christopher walken has basically remained silent about this for pretty much 40 years. For my money Chris walken is the key to this case and knows a lot more than he has ever said.
Christopher told the police what he knew at the time of the accident. So why would there be any more to say? He said it was an accident.

If you have actually followed this case for any length of time and looked at both sides of it you certainly wouldn't make such a casual and lazy statement like that. Wagner is a POI. Which is a legal way of saying he is their prime suspect because he was the last person seen with her. You would think someone who loved his wife and would do anything for her as much as he has claimed would actually cooperate with the new investigation instead of hinder it. I mean, what husband waits hours to finally call for help for a missing wife? That certainly doesn't sound like someone who would do anything for her. And yes, that is a fact, he waited HOURS to call for help.

The last person on the list never called investigators but BEFORE Natalie’s body was found at approximately 7:30 am on 29 November 1981, he had time to call his attorney ~ BEFORE.
No one will ever know how terrified Natalie was in her last moments because Mr. Wagner will never tell anyone what happened. It's a sad tragedy. If it were my Mother I could never accept this flimsy account.
Brian Jones - I learned that it’s legally correct procedure to name wagner a “Person of Interest.” If they called wagner a suspect (as he is) defense would use this as “Trying to sway the jury” which would put an end to the trial. I agree 100% with your question, fortunately for wagner and walken, it’s the way our legal system works. But unfortunately for those of us who believe he murdered Natalie (which I believe 100%), they would be free, as they are today, without the dark stain on their lives. They are “Innocent until proven guilty.” Detectives in the LASD know he murdered Natalie. However, they ask the idiotic question, “How did she get into the ocean? Who put her in the water”? walken knows exactly what happened! How big was the boat? How many feet away was walken? If they ever speak with detectives, they would both be arrested. They will take their secret to their graves.

@@johanvajse8410 Multiple witnesses heard a terrible row in the front cabin of that boat, and it's factual that Wagner smashed a bottle of wine in the ruckus. Natalie was deathly afraid of dark water and wouldn't have tried to board a dinghy that was out of easy reach low on the side underside of the boat. Wagner at best killed her accidently, as her face and legs were bruised, according to the autopsy diagram. At best he panicked and threw her body overboard, and the boat's captain, Dennis Davern said years later that Wagner swore him to affirm the concocted story that went out as official.

I agree with you 100%. I can't even add to your perfect assessment. It's just so accurate. On the mystery of her death, we may never learn more of Natalie's death and/or the truth, unless Robert Wagner agrees to talk to the authorities, which he and his attorney say they will not. Jealousy could be the motive Wagner killed the 43 year old actress. There are witnesses, who say they did hear Wagner yelling at Christopher Walken, "Are you EXPLETIVE my wife??!!" shortly before she drowned. Finally, there is something off about Robert Wagner's demeanor, something not even his average acting skills can hide.

I have always loved Natalie Wood since I was a teenager. Splendor In The Grass is one of my all time favorite movies. I will never forget her. I was shocked and grieved when she died so tragically. So grateful her daughter is paying tribute to her with this documentary.

This is my favorite HBO Documentaries, Natalie Wood. still remains my all time favorite actress of that era of Hollywood. She was one of my crush watching a lot in her movies. Still wish she had won an Oscar in any of her three roles. in "Rebel Without a Cause", "Splendor in the Grass" and "Love with the Proper Stranger".

This documentary struck me as her the adult children wanting to tell the world to stop looking for answers… because Wagner is old now and nothing will bring Natalie back.
I did notice that Mr Wagner’s recollection of the timeline that night didn’t discuss the delay in alerting the coast guard for search/rescue.
It didn’t seem like the daughters want to know exactly what happened (or maybe they already know and just want to move on from the continued gossip). To me, the documentary came across as ‘Mom was wonderful, we miss her, she hit her head and drowned, please leave Daddy Wagner alone. Bye bye.’
All of Natalie Woods friends whom she invited onto the boat for that trip (who declined), said that they wished they had accepted the invitation and been there. Hmmmm.

I served Robert Wagner room service in 1991 in Hawaii. There was a problem with his order and he sent me back to the kitchen 3 times. Keep in mind he was in a villa far outside the hotel I had to drive a golf cart about 2-3 new your city blocks back to the kitchen.
During all of this he was in a state of absolute rage. Like high voltage rage over an egg omelette.
At the time I thought nothing of it , oh another star being a baby. But after reviewing Natalie's incident I can totally see Robert harming her. His face was just absolute anger and rage. At the time I kind of just ignored it. My Grandfather had a temper too as well as my Mom and Dad so I knew how to handle it. But still kind of makes me wonder.
I would say it's likely he harmed her. He certainly has/had anger issues in 1991.

I am a JR fan. But: I wonder why Robert rushes through the explanation what happened just minutes before her death. That leaves a lot of room for speculation.

I met Mr, Wagner while working in Aspen, He was so very kind and polite. I am happy this documentary is out as she always stood out to me after I watched Splendor In The Grass as a young girl.
This is a nice documentary, and I´ve actually been a great fan of Natalie Wood since I was very young. Please don´t get me wrong - I am not in any way insinuating that Robert Wagner killed Natalie or was responsible for her death from a legal perspective, but it also becomes very clear very fast that Natasha Gregson-Wagner was a producer on this "documentary" and that this affects what is being told in the documentary. I still don´t really feel that we are getting the full truth about what happened that night on the boat. YES - at the end of the documentary when Natasha is interviewing her "Bonus"-daddy - we hear peripherally about what allegedly happened but not really into details I think.

Quite the change to uncomfortable body language when he discusses his specifics about the night it happened; he can't sit still. RJ is clearly a control freak and narcissist. He got so angry to smash a wine bottle just bc Chris said Natalie was a great actor and should continue to act; RJ even admits this. RJ was clearly jealous of Natalie's fame and fortune and the friendship with Chris Walkin. All of these things make control freaks and narcissists feel emasculated. Clear motive. Numerous witnesses have come forward to back up Dennis Davern that all point to foul play. Sadly there is no proper evidence except witnesses bc the police didn't do a proper job to begin with and the coroner lied which they tried to correct in 2011 but was far too late. Back then and even today, too many rich and famous men get away with far too much.
I felt sorry for Natalie's two daughters, Courtney Brook and Natasha (Natalie named her - Natalie's own name). I feel very sorry that Natasha idiotically changed her surname to "Wagner," her own mother's killer, hugging and kissing 'it.' How could she do that?! How can she believe that liar and killer - does she live under a boulder, unknowing what detectives and most people who have followed this case.

Natalie had purchased a family plot in Westwood Memorial Cemetery, which it quickly sold and purchased a family plot in Aspen Colorado, where it currently abides with 'its' current wife.

NATALIE WOOD was murdered by robert wagner, her husband, at 11 pm on 28 November 1981. He’s lived to be 90, more than double Natalie’s life that he took away from her. I don’t understand how Natasha believes the murderer, rather than know the truth of what really happened to her mother.

An excellent documentary on Natalie's life....I especially enjoyed the interviews with all the people who knew and loved Natalie....I still don't know what to make of Robert Wagner...it has always bothered me that I read that he told the captain that night not to turn on the search lights to look for Natalie....he waited, and then finally notified police...if that's true, how terrible is that.....I remember that Sunday morning in 1981 hearing the news and just being so sad and shocked....both of Natalie's daughters sound so much like their mom....I see Lana Wood is still not considered part of the family anymore....as a longtime fan of Natalie and her films I really enjoyed this : )

An unauthorized bio I read about her mentioned she had a fear of drowning because she almost drowned when filming a movie scene as a young girl... this is never mentioned in the doc. She also had alcohol and drug addiction which was never touched on in the doc... This film is a beautiful tribute to Natalie seen thru the eyes of her daughters which reveals the demands on her as a child actress by her parents and shows lots of touching home movies. Most likely there was a cover up involved with her drowning ...only RJ snd Walken know the real truth about what happened to her that night... what’s highly unlikely is that she was trying to tie up that dingy,.. and that RJ conveniently never saw her go into the water... but s hit TV show can go s long way for actors in Hollywood.
Her fear of water also stemmed originally from what a Gypsy once told her mom - Beware of dark water. The warning was for Natalie’s mom but for some reason her mom put it onto to Natalie as well. That’s what began her fear of water!

I will add that he must have an outstanding gift of mind control. It’s beyond my understanding that Courtney, and Natasha believe wagner is innocent of murdering their mother. Their loving mother was taken away from them. Do they believe the LASD investigators made the whole thing up? And don’t they watch the news or read the true facts? I know that Natalie would have done anything to protect them; she loved them beyond measure. Why doesn’t Natasha do the same thing for her mother? Why does she use wagner as her last name? It was a good documentary and gave us precious home videos and photos of Natalie we have never seen before. I guess my only complaint is it didn't really in depth regarding her film career like the peak of her fame and fall during the late '60s. IMO Courtney actually looks more like Natalie than Natasha but they are both beautiful in their own ways.
Definitely dictated by RJ Wagner his jealousy of Natalie was so prevalent at times, but he has brain-washer her children quite well!!

I was thinking the exact same thing.
Natasha does not believe her stepfather would hurt her mother but she was not on the boat the night Natalie went missing. Christopher Walkin was on the boat and remains silent. The boat's captain has publicly stated that he believes RJ was involved. RJ told the captain not to look for Natalie or call for help-allowing hours to pass. The dinghy was gone. RJ knew Natalie was terrified of water. The captain passed a lie detector test but took years to come forward. He too remained silent at the time. RJ is now an old man. Police likely believe, after all these years, they could not get a conviction. Natalie died that night because three men did nothing to try and save her. It is easier for Natasha to believe RJ is innocent.
You obviously keep reading gossip magazines. Do you know the captain's story has changed multiple times? Do you know the vendetta by Natalie's sister because she wasn't given more money? Were you there?

@Olivia Christopher Walkin has stated that he went to bed before Natalie went missing. Did he hear RJ and Natalie fighting and did not want to get involved? Natasha was never adopted by RJ. Why does she use the name Wagner? She could have used the documentary to ask RJ some long outstanding questions based on new evidence but decided to give him a pass. She is not looking for the truth.
I know that we all just want to think of her in only a shining, glamourous and positive light. But she was human after all. It was an open secret on the set of her last movie "Brianstorm" that she and Christopher Walken were having an affair. The screenwriter said it in an interview in 2019 that they would disappear together to one of their trailers throughout the day and it was all too obvious what was happening. Someone would go to the trailer to tell them to get to the set and they would ask to give them a minute. RJ learned of it. She was 43 and aging out of lead roles, Walken was a young, up and coming actor who recently won an Oscar. It made her feel young, desirable and reconnected to A list Hollywood.

I am a JR fan. But: As he told they had an argument and then he left and next she is suddenly in the water then there are only 2 possible conclusions: She did suicide or Robert doesn’t tell the truth. Combing her hair for bed before and Christopher Walken being fought by JR for complimenting Natalie, there is no other possibility. So if their children trust in their dad - then Natalie must have done suicide. Do her kids wanna make us believe that ?
