This is by far one of the most emotional and heartfelt performances Jerry had in his later years. Such a joy to see that smile after he nails that solo, with shaky hands and all. I'm about to re-check out some of these other suggestions including Englishtown, N.J. 1977-9-3(Sat) which I haven't heard in quite a while but I can't forget that also at Englishtown the 'Eyes of the World' and 'Mississippi 1/2 Step Uptown Toodaloo' are both truly mind blowing, for sure!
In any case, you're on the ball and this one here from definitely Vegas '94 as it appears others also have rightfully determined. Not to be too egotistical; we just have to teach the young folks where it's really at! I'm sure you'll agree?

Jerry had many great attributes but perhaps his greatest is that he never ran out of things to say with his solos. Peggy-O ain't all that complicated and they played it hundreds of times, yet here we are discussing which version is best all because of the variety of killer solos Jerry turned in on this tune. Me, myself, personally? I like '82 Peggy-O. I know most heads don't care much for early 80s but I'd challenge you to find a subpar Peggy-O from '82.

@@campsjams Andrew, it seems like you'd get bored listening to 1 song hundreds of times over a short time frame but I promise, you will love this exercise.
I've tried it with other songs but just couldn't get into it like with Peggy O. It didn't work for St Stephen or Dark Star. I'm not sure those songs are structured for this way to listen to them.
I think next I will try it with Row Jimmy or Althea.

This appears to be Las Vegas, Sam Boyd Stadium, I was standing in the 2nd row when he played this. I won't forget that purple shirt. Vince Welnick on the boards did a pretty good job! It was a 101 degrees at night and they had stations where they sprayed folks with cold water hoses and filled water bottles. We met sooo many nice folks there :)

Jerry pulls emotion from God and lets us mortals here it. Bless him. He is SORELY missed. I smoked weed with him in 1975 backstage when he played with Merle Saunders. It was supposed to be mine; I promised him great Jamaican weed I was running from Jamaica but I changed shirts before the concert and the joins I rolled were in the shirt I didn't wear. "No problem." said Jerry. We'll smoke mine". I was embarrassed but got pretty high, so....there's that.

I keep telling this tale but I Hated the GD when I was growing up, just despised them because all I ever heard and all my stoners ever played was 'Truckin' and I found it lacking in so many ways, I vowed to stay away from them. Fast forward when I was 23 and got a job as a night auditor at a hotel, balancing the days books. My claim to fame was knocking out all the work then getting stoned and gliding high the rest of the night. One time some guy from the previous shift left some dead tapes and I pressed "Play"..That was all she wrote! I still dislike Truckin' and thankfully they did not play them much during my 32 concerts I saw of them :)

@@itsgonnbeok7249 The lyrics depict a story set in Fennario, where a captain falls deeply in love with a woman named Pretty Peggy-O. He proposes marriage to her, promising freedom for her cities in return. However, Peggy-O hesitates because she feels he doesn't have enough wealth (guineas), fearing her mother's disapproval. The captain, on the other hand, believes that Peggy-O's mother might change her mind upon seeing his wealth and position. However, as the song progresses, there is a tone of despair and a sense of a doomed love. The captain warns that if he ever returns, he would burn her cities, suggesting a tumultuous and possibly unrequited relationship. Ultimately, Sweet William (the captain) dies, having spent all he had for a maid, and Peggy-O is left to mourn his loss.
The lyrics narrate a tragic tale of love, societal expectations, and the consequences of decisions made in the throes of passion.
